'''[[Virtupets Space Station|Virtupet's]] [[Altador Cup|Yooyuball]] team''' is a solid team of role players, though they are unspectacular in play. But due to star forward [[Keetra Deile]], she uses her brilliance and talent to elevate the play of those around her, making the team seem better than one would initially think. During [[Altador Cup 2006]], winning the tournament was viewed highly unlikely by the fans, but they believed an "upset" in the first or second round of the tournament wouldn't be out of the question. With their defeat by the [[Lost Desert]] in Round One, they failed to live up to the hype.

In [[Altador Cup 2007]], the Virtupets is once more led by up-and-coming superstar Keetra Deele, who vowed to take on much more responsibility for the team's scoring needs that year. With Deele picking up the scoring slack and newcomer [[Sela Pretore]] stepping in for underwhelming defender [[Kerib Vickers]], it was hoped the Space Station could rise up and surprise the experts. Despite a solid start, Virtupets would finish the season in dead last. In [[Altador Cup III|2008]] they got a new goalkeeper which helped them climb up the standings, finishing 12th in '08 and '09. But experts are still baffled when in [[Altador Cup V|2010]] Virtupets were a contender for the finals, and finished 6th.

In [[Altador Cup VI]] Virtupets did better than their previous years, scoring a near-perfect Make Some Noise record. They fought against [[Maraqua]] and [[Krawk Island]] for the Cup and emerged as the winners of the Altador Cup.

Team Tyrannia

'''[[Tyrannia]]'s [[Altador Cup|Yooyuball]] team''' was assembled a few years before 2006 from a group made almost entirely of players whose original teams had given up on them. After a series of trades and waiver wire acquisitions, Tyrannia began to transform its motley bunch of cast-offs into a selfless squad of warriors. Driven by a desire to show everyone how wrong they were to write them off, Tyrannia's "Forsaken Five" have gone on to become one of the most successful Yooyuball teams.

After their defeat in the first round playoff by [[Roo Island]] in 2006, many expected Tyrannia to retool their lineup in 2007. Rather than act on this, Tyrannia's managers believed they were simply unlucky, due to the fact it was hard to imagine anyone defeating Roo Island. They kept the tight knit "Forsaken Five" together, believing it would be a horrible mistake to break up one of the best Yooyuball teams in Neopia over a single playoff loss. However, their minds changed after the 2009 season, trading Evrem Guilako for Terror Mountain's Elbin Kroe. However it appears they got the bad end of this deal as they finished 10th, while [[Terror Mountain]] finished 9th.

[[Elbin Kroe]] moved to [[Faerieland]] before [[Altador Cup VI]] started. Tyrannia hired [["Spikes" Barmie]] to be their new Right Defender. This helped Tyrannia and the team turned into a fierce competitor. They defeated [[Darigan Citadel]] before they were stopped by [[Meridell]] and ended up in 6th place

'''[[Terror Mountain]]'s [[Altador Cup|Yooyuball]] team''' was known as "the worst team a fortune can buy" in 2006, due to the collection of talented players who failed to come together and play as a team when they were defeated by [[Darigan Citadel]]. Terror Mountain's management has since begun moving away from their overpriced free agent signings of years past and started rebuilding for the future. The centrepiece of the youth movement was [[Osielle Lidel]], a speedy young forward who stepped in to replace [[Tico Tems]] in 2007. While Lidel has the makings of a future superstar, it could be a year or two before he has the kind of team around him ready to seriously challenge the Altador Cup.

In [[Altador Cup V|2010]] they made a big trade to [[Tyrannia]]: [[Elbin Kroe]] for [[Evrem Guilako]]. Due to this trade and their record setting [[Shootout Showdown]] record, they came in 9th place.

In [[Altador Cup VI]] they improved very much and got out of the third tier and fought to get 5th place. They were defeated by [[Meridell]] and [[Darigan Citadel]] and ended in 8th place.

Joining the [[Altador Cup]] in 2007, '''[[Shenkuu]]'s Yooyuball team''' is regarded by [[Altador Cup]] enthusiasts as an exciting young team with plenty of promise, but they were expected not to make much noise in the tournament, having too many holes in their team. The inexperience of goalie [[Xana DiLanche]], the unpredictable health of defender [[Turo Rafels]], and the team's overall lack of tournament play are all serious concerns. However, the stunning talent of young forwards [[Mirsha Grelinek]] and [[Foltaggio]] may cause a few upsets.

The team surpassed expectations in the [[Altador Cup II|2007 Cup]], defeating [[Krawk Island]] in the third place game. The following year in [[Altador Cup III]], they dropped one spot to fourth place. In [[Altador Cup IV]], Shenkuu shockingly defeated top seed [[Kreludor]] to reach the finals, but lost to [[Krawk Island]] was left in second. Although they were favourites going into [[Altador Cup V]] thanks to their strong prior performances, Shenkuu's 2010 bid ended in a very disappointing 11th place finish.

[[Altador Cup VI]] continued Shenkuu's inconsistency. Finishing yet again in third tier at the end, the team finished 10th after defeating [[Haunted Woods]], but losing to [[Roo Island]].

'''Mystery Island's [[Altador Cup|Yooyuball]] team''' is led by [[Teylore Nix]] and the unstoppable brute force of [[Volgoth]]. They entered the 2006 Altador Cup with a punishing offensive arsenal few teams could hope to keep pace with, and were the odds-on favourite to bring home the cup despite the shaky status of their goalkeeper. After defeating [[Faerieland]] in Round One, however, Mystery Island's scoring duo was stopped by [[Krawk Island]] goaltender [[Garven Hale]]. The following year, Mystery Island kept the same roster, yet the team was quick to point out they're more wiser and reliant on brains than sheer speed and brute force, making it seem their defeat humbled them to bring out their very best. However in the middle of the season, their star defender [[Maital Koric]] got injured in a game against [[Meridell]] half way through the season and Mystery Island was forced to replace him the the inexperienced [[Vela Binal]]. However, Binal rose to the occasion and they finished 2007 in 6th place, same as the previous year. In [[Altador Cup III|2008]], Mystery Island had a new goalkeeper and a new spirit, hoping to finally crack the top 4. However, they had a rough year and finished 9th. But in [[Altador Cup IV|2009]] they were back to their old ways, finishing 6th. However, their victory was short lived because [[Altador Cup V|the following year]] they finish 14th, the worst they had ever done. [[Altador Cup VI]] continued to pull inconsistent matchups, finishing the year in 14th yet again, after winning against [[Kiko Lake]] and losing to [[Lost Desert]].

'''[[Moltara]] City''' joined in [[Altador Cup V]]. There was a lot of hype for them coming into the Cup, expected to be a serious contender, however it would be an understatement to say they were a huge disappointment. Having never won a single [[Yooyuball]] game, they came in 18th place going into the finals, and stayed that way until the end. Though they may not be the best [[Yooyuball]] squad, they have an undeniable fighting spirit.

Unfortunately, [[Altador Cup VI]] gave no new improvements to the team. However, things were looking up when Moltara went into the consolation bracket with 3 Yooyuball wins, while [[Altador]], the other team in the consolation bracket, had none. However, they lost key games in Yooyuball, winning two and losing two, while Team Altador found an undeniable prowess in Slushie Slinger. As a result, Moltara finished dead last for the second year in a row.

Team Lost Desert

The '''Lost Desert's [[Altador Cup|Yooyuball]] team''' of 2006 had a lineup which could have done lots of damage in the tournament, but troubles in 2006 ([["Dirty" Navers]]' aggressive tactics and [[Derbi Azar]]'s holdout) made fans wary of them and if they would effectively play. They managed beat the [[Virtupets Space Station|Space Station]] in the first round, but were beaten by [[Roo Island]] in Round Two. When the time came to assign blame for the improbable loss, most of the criticism was aimed at defenseman [[Wyett Tuggins]], who was repeatedly put to shame by the brilliant play of Roo Island's [[Fenny Vail]]. As a result, journeyman [[Luvea Trivon]] took his place in the 2007 games.

After a few uneventful years for Lost Desert their chance to shine came in 09' where they made it to the finals and placed third after being defeated by the eventual winners [[Krawk Island]], but being able to defeat the initial top seeds, [[Kreludor]]. Thus expectations were high when [[Altador Cup V]] came around, where Lost Desert were the odd on favorites. Though they hit a rough patch 2/3 into the season, they were able to keep it together and eventually win the Cup!

The next Cup came and everyone watched on what would happen to Lost Desert. Surprisingly, they were beaten easily by many teams and fell to the 4th bracket, the farthest any winner have gone after the year they won. Not accepting their great fall, they fought hard to win the tier and they did, ending up in 13th place.

'''Meridell's [[Altador Cup|Yooyuball]] team''' is all about "speed", and is said to be described with that one word. Their superior conditioning allows them to wear down opponents with a relentless flurry of cuts and screens from the opening face-off until the end of a game. Their speed, however, masks the fact they aren't the most accurate or powerful shooters.

They began the 2006 tournament as one of the odds-on favourites to win, having run circles around [[Maraqua#Yooyuball|Maraqua]] in the first round, but "smashed their head on into a brick wall" when they faced [[Darigan]]'s defence in Round Two, finishing 17th. In [[Altador Cup II|2007]] Meridell fans hoped the replacement of reviled ''Left Forward'' [[Vitri Sitol]] with swift scorer [[Gregorgio Maille]] will not only give the team a much needed offensive boost, but also help improve their standing among fans around Neopia.

When the team in fact did worse, the demanding fans wanted more change, so [[Sir Pollonaire Freidl]] was replaced by [[Yoris Obbles]]. This was just the boost they needed, finishing 5th overall in [[Altador Cup III|2008]]. Needless to say expectations were high for Team Meridell in [[Altador Cup V]], but they were a disappointment, finishing 11th overall. Although in [[Altador Cup V|2010]], they fought with [[Roo Island]] for the final spot in the finals, but just fell short, entering the playoffs in 5th place, and leaving in 8th.

[[Altador Cup VI]] was very similar for the Meridell team. Again, they fell just short of first tier to end the round-robin in 5th. However, they managed to defeat both [[Terror Mountain]] and [[Tyrannia]] to secure 5th place, the best they've done since Altador Cup III.

The '''Lost Desert's [[Altador Cup|Yooyuball]] team''' of 2006 had a lineup which could have done lots of damage in the tournament, but troubles in 2006 ([["Dirty" Navers]]' aggressive tactics and [[Derbi Azar]]'s holdout) made fans wary of them and if they would effectively play. They managed beat the [[Virtupets Space Station|Space Station]] in the first round, but were beaten by [[Roo Island]] in Round Two. When the time came to assign blame for the improbable loss, most of the criticism was aimed at defenseman [[Wyett Tuggins]], who was repeatedly put to shame by the brilliant play of Roo Island's [[Fenny Vail]]. As a result, journeyman [[Luvea Trivon]] took his place in the 2007 games.

After a few uneventful years for Lost Desert their chance to shine came in 09' where they made it to the finals and placed third after being defeated by the eventual winners [[Krawk Island]], but being able to defeat the initial top seeds, [[Kreludor]]. Thus expectations were high when [[Altador Cup V]] came around, where Lost Desert were the odd on favorites. Though they hit a rough patch 2/3 into the season, they were able to keep it together and eventually win the Cup!

The next Cup came and everyone watched on what would happen to Lost Desert. Surprisingly, they were beaten easily by many teams and fell to the 4th bracket, the farthest any winner have gone after the year they won. Not accepting their great fall, they fought hard to win the tier and they did, ending up in 13th place.

In the 2007 [[Altador Cup]], Kreludor did not participate. They were replaced by Shenkuu, but returned in 2008 replacing Kiko Lake. To [[Altador Cup IV]] Krawk Island went, and they were sure ready to finally win a cup as the sole remaining out of the "Original Four" ([[Haunted Woods]], [[Darigan Citadel]], and Roo Island being the others)to not have won yet. Like the previous year, no roster changes appeared in 2009 so it was now or never, cause "Dasher" Soley seem ready to retire soon. As well like the previous, they blazed through to the Finals, with major accomplishments to major disappointments (ie: A sweep from Kreludor) but still earning them a 2nd seed spot through the finals. After quite a major victory from "[[Yooyuball]]" powerhouse, [[Lost Desert]], they only needed to beat [[Shenkuu]] to finally win. The match between Shenkuu and Krawk Island was a sure classic as this two teams had battled it out many times before, with the two major matches before giving way to a win for both teams, so now this was a deciding factor, who would rein supreme. Finally, Krawk Island had done it, with a intense battle between the pirates and ninjas, Krawk Island finally won the match and with it the Altador Cup earning them their first cup.

In [[Altador Cup V]] talk of the "winner's curse" was very common. While some said that Krawk Island won't fall as hard as the others, while others said they'd fall worse. About a month before sign ups, rumors surfaced that [["Dasher" Soley]] had finally retired. And when the rumors were proven true, with Hale becoming team captain, even the Krawk Island supporters were worried. However, when Soley's replacement, [[Feldon "Dinksy" Collibridge]], injured her right leg, Krawk Island had to call Soley out of his retirement for on last season. As all of [[Neopia]] held their breath to see how Dasher's Squad would do, Krawk Island got off to a pedestrian start. Trading wins with losses, they entered the finals in 6th place, though after loosing to [[Virtupets]] they finished the season in 7th.

With "Dasher" Soley retiring after his replacement was okay, [[Feldon "Dinksy" Collibridge]] replaced him. She helped the team get back to its glory and get back to the top tier. They are the only team that got into the Top 4 5 times.

Not making it past the first round, fans hoped for a surprise in 2007, similar to that of [[Roo Island]]'s team, though many believed they wouldn't make it past the Round-Robin Phase. En route to AC III, they were sidelined by a rock slide. Kiko Lake entered AC IV with a drastic lineup change fans thought would help them a lot. Although this new line-up beat Maraqua in the first game which led to be a confidence booster, they later fell from grace and into the final bracket being beaten by Terror Mountain, placing them 14th. And after making no changes to their lineup in [[Altador Cup V|2010]] they were not expected to do much better. Though after beating expected contender [[Shenkuu]] in game one, they didn't play well after leaving them in 16th place at the end of the finals.

[[Altador Cup VI]] had the Kiko Lakers excited for some time, holding 11th place for much of the second round-robin. However, as they began to falter against stronger teams, Teams Shenkuu and [[Brightvale]] kicked them out to fourth tier. Then, going into finals, they lost against [[Mystery Island]]. However, after losing against [[Faerieland]], they finished 16th.

After getting beaten in the first round of [[Altador Cup 2006]], fans thought Maraqua would cut its losses and get rid of Elon Hughlis. When it became apparent that Hughlis wasn't leaving, they decide to trade other foward, [[Jair Tollet]] for [[Roo Island]]'s [[Dayla]] (injured in preseason). Considering Hughlis insisted on scoring most of the team's goals, Maraqua decided having three defenders in the lineup worked best for them, adding hefty defence man [[Oten Runeu]] to their starting unit. As a result, Maraqua looked to have one of the toughest squads in Neopia to score against, later proved to be false after placing ninth and tenth in the following two cups.

In [[Altador Cup V]], the team was hyped about a lot. However, due to a tough series of matches where they had to face the top three teams; [[Lost Desert]], [[Kreludor]], and [[Darigan Citadel]] in a row, and not faring well against any of them, they dropped from a strong fifth at the end of round one, to a struggling eighth at the end of round two. However, In the Finals they shined once again, beating [[Meridell]] who were consistently placed in the top four before being slightly edged out near the end by [[Roo Island]], the defeating [[Virtupets Space Station]] to claim the same spot they claimed the year before, 5th.

In 2011's [[Altador Cup VI]] they added [[Lost Desert]]'s defender Lamelle Turow because Dorina Hals retired. With a teammate from the winning team of Altador Cup V, people thought that Maraqua would have a very good shot at winning. Though they weren't quite able to play up to par with the other top tier teams, they managed to claim 4th after losing to [[Virtupets]] and [[Kreludor]], the best they've ever done.
