'''[[Virtupets Space Station|Virtupet's]] [[Altador Cup|Yooyuball]] team''' is a solid team of role players, though they are unspectacular in play. But due to star forward [[Keetra Deile]], she uses her brilliance and talent to elevate the play of those around her, making the team seem better than one would initially think. During [[Altador Cup 2006]], winning the tournament was viewed highly unlikely by the fans, but they believed an "upset" in the first or second round of the tournament wouldn't be out of the question. With their defeat by the [[Lost Desert]] in Round One, they failed to live up to the hype.

In [[Altador Cup 2007]], the Virtupets is once more led by up-and-coming superstar Keetra Deele, who vowed to take on much more responsibility for the team's scoring needs that year. With Deele picking up the scoring slack and newcomer [[Sela Pretore]] stepping in for underwhelming defender [[Kerib Vickers]], it was hoped the Space Station could rise up and surprise the experts. Despite a solid start, Virtupets would finish the season in dead last. In [[Altador Cup III|2008]] they got a new goalkeeper which helped them climb up the standings, finishing 12th in '08 and '09. But experts are still baffled when in [[Altador Cup V|2010]] Virtupets were a contender for the finals, and finished 6th.

In [[Altador Cup VI]] Virtupets did better than their previous years, scoring a near-perfect Make Some Noise record. They fought against [[Maraqua]] and [[Krawk Island]] for the Cup and emerged as the winners of the Altador Cup.

With a new style of play in [[Altador Cup VII]], there was no telling what would happen with the alleged "Winner's Curse." Some thought that due to the dedication that they showed last year, they wouldn't fall as hard as the other teams afflicted by the curse have. Others said that the new style would ruin the team. After only one round of gameplay, it became apparent that the team would fall hard, losing key matches and even drawing in Yooyuball against the traditionally bottom-barrel team [[Moltara]]. They still fared well against middle-tier teams, but their occasional run-in with top-tier threats never ended well. The result was a fall of [[Lost Desert]] proportions, ending the tournament in 13th.

2013 would become a disastrious year for Team Virtupets. The achieved a historical low amount of wins and finished their lowest position since Altador Cup II. Team Virtupets made it 16th, in a tie with Team Faerieland in [[Altador Cup IX]].

Only a year after their greatest disaster, Team Virtupets rised up in [[Altador Cup IX]] to the level they had 3 years ago. Keetra Deile and her teammates managed to sweep topteams like Darigan Citadel, Krawk Island and Kreludor. Becoming a major favorite for the title. However, in the fourth round Virtupets entered the same bracket as the other top favorites: Haunted Woods and Moltara. They were able to beat Moltara but lost to Haunted Woods. Thus in the end they had to settle with silver for the 2nd place.

'''[[Tyrannia]]'s [[Altador Cup|Yooyuball]] team''' was assembled a few years before 2006 from a group made almost entirely of players whose original teams had given up on them. After a series of trades and waiver wire acquisitions, Tyrannia began to transform its motley bunch of cast-offs into a selfless squad of warriors. Driven by a desire to show everyone how wrong they were to write them off, Tyrannia's "Forsaken Five" have gone on to become one of the most successful Yooyuball teams.

After their defeat in the first round playoff by [[Roo Island]] in 2006, many expected Tyrannia to retool their lineup in 2007. Rather than act on this, Tyrannia's managers believed they were simply unlucky, due to the fact it was hard to imagine anyone defeating Roo Island. They kept the tight knit "Forsaken Five" together, believing it would be a horrible mistake to break up one of the best Yooyuball teams in Neopia over a single playoff loss. However, their minds changed after the 2009 season, trading Evrem Guilako for Terror Mountain's Elbin Kroe. However it appears they got the bad end of this deal as they finished 10th, while [[Terror Mountain]] finished 9th.

[[Elbin Kroe]] moved to [[Faerieland]] before [[Altador Cup VI]] started. Tyrannia hired [["Spikes" Barmie]] to be their new Right Defender. This helped Tyrannia and the team turned into a fierce competitor. They defeated [[Darigan Citadel]] before they were stopped by [[Meridell]] and ended up in 6th place.

[[Altador Cup VII]] was a new format, and whether it would help Tyrannia or not was debatable. They had a mixed bag of success and failure over the first few matches, alternating from pulling off sweeps to being the ones being swept. They began to hit their stride in the second and third rounds of the tournament, before the fourth round forsaw their collapse. However, despite their lower 10th place finish, they proved they were still strong, and the spirit of the "Forsaken Five" lives on.

In the preparation for [[Altador Cup VIII]] they exchanged Goalkeepers with [[Team Moltara]], therefore gaining the strength of Mor Gollog. The team spirit that year was never better and the mechanism functionated like an oiled machine. Already soon in the competition they proved themself even worthy for the title. As the time went on their only rival for the Cup was Altador, in the decisive match between them, Mor Gollog proved himself of great value and reassured the Cup for Team Tyrannia. An impressive achievement that no one saw coming. But Loryche was always sure of to be possible.

The expactations were low for Tyrannia at the start of [[Altador Cup IX]]. Over the past six years, winning teams were tormented by the "Winners Curse" the year after their grand victory. Team Tyrannia however fought hard and shocked the world of Yooyuball. They were able to compete with the favorites, breaking through their "unbeated" status. Unfortunately Tyrannia simply wasn't good enough but still managed to finish 4th in a tie with Darigan Citadel. Their top5 position was proof that Tyrannia is in fact the first team ever who doesn't suffer the Winners Curse.

Team Terror Mountain

'''[[Terror Mountain]]'s [[Altador Cup|Yooyuball]] team''' was known as "the worst team a fortune can buy" in 2006, due to the collection of talented players who failed to come together and play as a team when they were defeated by [[Darigan Citadel]]. Terror Mountain's management has since begun moving away from their overpriced free agent signings of years past and started rebuilding for the future. The centrepiece of the youth movement was [[Osielle Lidel]], a speedy young forward who stepped in to replace [[Tico Tems]] in 2007. While Lidel has the makings of a future superstar, it could be a year or two before he has the kind of team around him ready to seriously challenge the Altador Cup.

In [[Altador Cup V|2010]] they made a big trade to [[Tyrannia]]: [[Elbin Kroe]] for [[Evrem Guilako]]. Due to this trade and their record setting [[Shootout Showdown]] record, they came in 9th place.

In [[Altador Cup VI]] they improved very much and got out of the third tier and fought to get 5th place. They were defeated by [[Meridell]] and [[Darigan Citadel]] and ended in 8th place.

Under the new system of play, Terror Mountain's crew seemed to suffer greatly - claiming only one Yooyuball win in the first two rounds. However, in the second half of the tournament, they cleaned up their act and began to pick wins here and there, though still generally under-performing against top tier threats. Despite their hardships, the team managed to slide into a tie with [[Brightvale]] for 11th.

In [[Altador Cup VIII]] Terror Mountain was more focused then ever. They started sloppy but grew in strength all the way to the top. In the end this was good enough for a 7th place, the best ranking ever for Prytariel's team.

A year after their best ranking ever, the expectations were high and tensed for Team Terror Mountain. Perhaps a bit too tensed for the players in [[Altador Cup IX]]. They couldn't get into their usual flow and when they finally did in the last round it was too late. Still, they made it to the 13th place and tied with Roo Island and Shenkuu.

Joining the [[Altador Cup]] in 2007, '''[[Shenkuu]]'s Yooyuball team''' is regarded by [[Altador Cup]] enthusiasts as an exciting young team with plenty of promise, but they were expected not to make much noise in the tournament, having too many holes in their team. The inexperience of goalie [[Xana DiLanche]], the unpredictable health of defender [[Turo Rafels]], and the team's overall lack of tournament play are all serious concerns. However, the stunning talent of young forwards [[Mirsha Grelinek]] and [[Foltaggio]] may cause a few upsets.

The team surpassed expectations in the [[Altador Cup II|2007 Cup]], defeating [[Krawk Island]] in the third place game. The following year in [[Altador Cup III]], they dropped one spot to fourth place. In [[Altador Cup IV]], Shenkuu shockingly defeated top seed [[Kreludor]] to reach the finals, but lost to [[Krawk Island]] was left in second. Although they were favourites going into [[Altador Cup V]] thanks to their strong prior performances, Shenkuu's 2010 bid ended in a very disappointing 11th place finish.

[[Altador Cup VI]] continued Shenkuu's inconsistency. Finishing yet again in third tier at the end, the team finished 10th after defeating [[Haunted Woods]], but losing to [[Roo Island]].

After two years of subpar performance, the worry that Shenkuu would never return to the powerhouse team it once was persisted as [[Altador Cup VII]]'s new system threatened the stability of certain powerhouses. The year was fraught with peril, as [[Mystery Island]] suddenly emerged as a powerhouse. Losing a good deal of their matches, things did not bode well for the ninjas, which resulted in a dismal 16th place finish.

In 2012, Team Shenkuu made a lot of changes in their roster. Club icon Foltaggio was replaced for the Altadorian defender [[Timu]]. Therefore the formation became a 1+3 with Mirsha Grelinek as only Forward.

Eventhough Team Shenkuu made a jump in [[Altador Cup VIII]] to the 12th place. Still it did not change the fact that Shenkuu didn't score higher than the 10th place over the last 4 years. The nightmare for Team Shenkuu keeps on lasting, and is generally not being seen as a powerhouse anymore. The reason for their bad results is probably because of their great desire for the 1st place since [[Altador Cup IV]], but not having the capacity and thus overestimating themselfs.

After a minor growth last year, Shenkuu had hoped for more in [[Altador Cup IX]]. Sadly Shenkuu simply cannot do any better. Mirsha Grelinek and teammates did their best but 13th in a tie with Roo Island and Terror Mountain was all they could.

Joining the [[Altador Cup]] in 2007, '''[[Shenkuu]]'s Yooyuball team''' is regarded by [[Altador Cup]] enthusiasts as an exciting young team with plenty of promise, but they were expected not to make much noise in the tournament, having too many holes in their team. The inexperience of goalie [[Xana DiLanche]], the unpredictable health of defender [[Turo Rafels]], and the team's overall lack of tournament play are all serious concerns. However, the stunning talent of young forwards [[Mirsha Grelinek]] and [[Foltaggio]] may cause a few upsets.

The team surpassed expectations in the [[Altador Cup II|2007 Cup]], defeating [[Krawk Island]] in the third place game. The following year in [[Altador Cup III]], they dropped one spot to fourth place. In [[Altador Cup IV]], Shenkuu shockingly defeated top seed [[Kreludor]] to reach the finals, but lost to [[Krawk Island]] was left in second. Although they were favourites going into [[Altador Cup V]] thanks to their strong prior performances, Shenkuu's 2010 bid ended in a very disappointing 11th place finish.

[[Altador Cup VI]] continued Shenkuu's inconsistency. Finishing yet again in third tier at the end, the team finished 10th after defeating [[Haunted Woods]], but losing to [[Roo Island]].

After two years of subpar performance, the worry that Shenkuu would never return to the powerhouse team it once was persisted as [[Altador Cup VII]]'s new system threatened the stability of certain powerhouses. The year was fraught with peril, as [[Mystery Island]] suddenly emerged as a powerhouse. Losing a good deal of their matches, things did not bode well for the ninjas, which resulted in a dismal 16th place finish.

In 2012, Team Shenkuu made a lot of changes in their roster. Club icon Foltaggio was replaced for the Altadorian defender [[Timu]]. Therefore the formation became a 1+3 with Mirsha Grelinek as only Forward.

Eventhough Team Shenkuu made a jump in [[Altador Cup VIII]] to the 12th place. Still it did not change the fact that Shenkuu didn't score higher than the 10th place over the last 4 years. The nightmare for Team Shenkuu keeps on lasting, and is generally not being seen as a powerhouse anymore. The reason for their bad results is probably because of their great desire for the 1st place since [[Altador Cup IV]], but not having the capacity and thus overestimating themselfs.

After a minor growth last year, Shenkuu had hoped for more in [[Altador Cup IX]]. Sadly Shenkuu simply cannot do any better. Mirsha Grelinek and teammates did their best but 13th in a tie with Roo Island and Terror Mountain was all they could.

'''Roo Island's [[Altador Cup|Yooyuball]] team''' consists of also-rans and inexperienced rookies, but received a huge boost when [[Lilo Blumario]], one of the game's top players, decided to take a pay cut and sign up with his hometown club. In what was considered improbable and the biggest story of [[Altador Cup 2006]], Roo Island managed to reach Round 3 of the tournament, being defeated by [[Darigan Citadel]] and placing as number four. After a voting of fans and players that Roo Island had the ugliest jersey, fans hoped to do even better this past tournament,with a new uniform and the team's signing of [[Maraqua#Colour|Maraquan]] forward [[Jair Tollet]], who was traded to Roo Island for [[Dayla]], the red Lenny (She got injured in the first practice and never played again). This helped Roo Island make it to the final match, losing to [[Darigan Citadel]], and overall placing in second.

Third time proved to be the charm, when in [[Altador Cup III|2008]], Roo Island beat Krawk Island in the Altador Cup final, claiming the cup. In 09, however, Roo Island placed ninth. In [[Altador Cup V|2010]], Roo Island was questioned for making no changes to their lineup in the offseason. However, though a pedestrian start first half, they kicked it up a notch before the mid-season break by winning 16 of the last 19 matches. This catapulted them up to 4th place going into the finals. [[Kreludor]] was able to sneak out a victory in the first round, and [[Darigan Citadel]] defeated them in the second round, leaving 4th place to Roo Island. They were contenders for the Cup in 11'. Even though their Yooyuball record was great, their side game performance wasn't up to par and ended back in 9th place.

[[Altador Cup VII]]'s new style didn't fare well for Roo Island, and frequent matchups against powerful teams did not fare well. Further, with [[Mystery Island]]'s upgrade to a powerhouse force, many worried of what else would come to the Roos. Even with a roster change, trading popular defender [[Gordo Gunnels]] with equally popular [["Squeaky" Tressif]], the Roos suffered. The result was a 14th place finish, a position far below what is expected of them.

In [[Altador Cup VIII]] Roo Island regained its strenght. Starting the tournament with a full sweep against teams like Lost Desert, Mystery Island, Maraqua and Shenkuu. And gained victory while fighting powerhouses like [[Team Darigan Citadel]] and [[Team Kreludor]]. Eventually they were only unable to defeat the suprises of that years tournament; Altador and Tyrannia, ending up at the 3rd place. But still the best result since their victory of the Cup, proving that Roo Island is still a traditional powerhouse.

Unfortunately, it became very quickly clear that Roo Island wouldn't repeat her previous performance. They lost a lot of marches in [[Altador Cup IX]] but fought bravely. In the end they tied with both Terror Mountain and Shenkuu for the 13th place.

They entered the 2006 Altador Cup with a punishing offensive arsenal few teams could hope to keep pace with, and were the odds-on favourite to bring home the cup despite the shaky status of their goalkeeper. After defeating [[Faerieland]] in Round One, however, Mystery Island's scoring duo was stopped by [[Krawk Island]] goaltender [[Garven Hale]]. The following year, Mystery Island kept the same roster, yet the team was quick to point out they're more wiser and reliant on brains than sheer speed and brute force, making it seem their defeat humbled them to bring out their very best. However in the middle of the season, their star defender [[Maital Koric]] got injured in a game against [[Meridell]] half way through the season and Mystery Island was forced to replace him the the inexperienced [[Vela Binal]]. However, Binal rose to the occasion and they finished 2007 in 6th place, same as the previous year. In [[Altador Cup III|2008]], Mystery Island had a new goalkeeper and a new spirit, hoping to finally crack the top 4. However, they had a rough year and finished 9th. But in [[Altador Cup IV|2009]] they were back to their old ways, finishing 6th. However, their victory was short lived because [[Altador Cup V|the following year]] they finish 14th, the worst they had ever done. [[Altador Cup VI]] continued to pull inconsistent matchups, finishing the year in 14th yet again, after winning against [[Kiko Lake]] and losing to [[Lost Desert]].

After the inclusion of [[Selmon Woulf]] as a replacement for [[Bertie Shurtz]], in [[Altador Cup VII]], the Mystery Island team had an incredibly successful outburst. It was obvious from the beginning; having not lost a single Yooyuball match until towards the end of the second round, they were highly successful throughout all the rounds. Claiming win after win against powerhouses such as [[Lost Desert]] and [[Maraqua]], and even defeating [[Krawk Island]] and [[Meridell]], two favorites going into the tournament, fans saw them as a team to be feared. By the end of the four rounds, Mystery Island soared to a tie for 2nd place, alongside Meridell. In doing so, they went into the tiebreaker match, in which the team was victorious against Meridell and secured 2nd place.

After a historical achievement, Mystery Island gravely disappointed in [[Altador Cup VIII]] where they became 15th.

The series of disappointments were followed by a small growth in the rankings of [[Altador Cup IX]] for Team Mystery Island. They had a very average tournament, in which they won some and lost some. Bounced up and down in de bracket rankings to finally end up 11th of the Altador Cup IX.

'''[[Moltara]]''' joined in [[Altador Cup V]]. There was a lot of hype for them coming into the Cup, expected to be a serious contender, however it would be an understatement to say they were a huge disappointment. Having never won a single [[Yooyuball]] game, they came in 18th place going into the finals, and stayed that way until the end. Though they may not be the best [[Yooyuball]] squad, they have an undeniable fighting spirit.

Unfortunately, [[Altador Cup VI]] gave no new improvements to the team. However, things were looking up when Moltara went into the consolation bracket with 3 Yooyuball wins, including an upset win over powerhouse team [[Krawk Island]], while [[Altador]], the other team in the consolation bracket, had none. However, they lost key games in Yooyuball, winning two and losing two, while Team Altador found an undeniable prowess in Slushie Slinger. As a result, Moltara finished dead last for the second year in a row.

In [[Altador Cup VII]], the new style of play did not affect Moltara's chances very much, but slow improvement was seen, as they swept [[Faerieland]] twice. Though their wins were rare, claiming very few in Yooyuball and a fair amount in the side games, they managed to pull through to climb up the standings slightly, going up to 15th.

By 2013 Moltara tried their chances with a new Goalkeeper, namely the experienced Tyrannian [[Harlis Neyhbol]]. Unluckely the effect of improvement was only temporary. After having their best score ever of a 15th place, they dropped back to the 18th place in [[Altador Cup VIII]].

Moltara started [[Altador Cup IX]] with the objective not to become last this year. Their enthousiasm brought them to a far higher level then anticipated though. They were even for a while a favorite to win the Cup. This dream was however crushed by former winners Haunted Woods and Virtupets. They had to satisfy with the 3rd place. But there was no sadness, because they had written history for their land.

'''Meridell's [[Altador Cup|Yooyuball]] team''' is all about "speed", and is said to be described with that one word. Their superior conditioning allows them to wear down opponents with a relentless flurry of cuts and screens from the opening face-off until the end of a game. Their speed, however, masks the fact they aren't the most accurate or powerful shooters.

They began the 2006 tournament as one of the odds-on favourites to win, having run circles around [[Maraqua#Yooyuball|Maraqua]] in the first round, but "smashed their head on into a brick wall" when they faced [[Darigan]]'s defence in Round Two, finishing 17th. In [[Altador Cup II|2007]] Meridell fans hoped the replacement of reviled ''Left Forward'' [[Vitri Sitol]] with swift scorer [[Gregorgio Maille]] will not only give the team a much needed offensive boost, but also help improve their standing among fans around Neopia.

When the team in fact did worse, the demanding fans wanted more change, so [[Sir Pollonaire Freidl]] was replaced by [[Yoris Obbles]]. This was just the boost they needed, finishing 5th overall in [[Altador Cup III|2008]]. Needless to say expectations were high for Team Meridell in [[Altador Cup V]], but they were a disappointment, finishing 11th overall. Although in [[Altador Cup V|2010]], they fought with [[Roo Island]] for the final spot in the finals, but just fell short, entering the playoffs in 5th place, and leaving in 8th.

[[Altador Cup VI]] was very similar for the Meridell team. Again, they fell just short of first tier to end the round-robin in 5th. However, they managed to defeat both [[Terror Mountain]] and [[Tyrannia]] to secure 5th place, the best they've done since Altador Cup III.

As a team hungry for victory, this team was a favorite to win going into [[Altador Cup VII]]. However, with the new format of gameplay, it was debatable as they have gone without a roster change for the 4th straight year. However, their strength was hardly matched, especially in the second and fourth rounds, where 5 out of the 6 matches were sweeps. Hardly any teams were able to counter the Meridellian's strengths in Yooyuball, with only [[Kiko Lake]], [[Kreludor]], [[Mystery Island]], and [[Brightvale]] avoiding a defeat in that event. However, they lacked a same power as Kreludor and fell in a tiebreaker match against Mystery Island for 2nd, which they lost, placing them in 3rd.

In [[Altador Cup VIII]] they kind of fell back from their great position. They became 6th. Still with pride and glory.

Meridell got hit by bad luck in [[Altador Cup IX]]. Besides from that their play wasn't as fierce as the previous years. But they were entirely eclipsed by top tier teams. Becoming third, fourth, third and fith in their brackets of respectively round 1, 2, 3 and 5. The only luck they had was when they avoided the top teams in round 4 so that they could grap a few extra points to avoid ending out of the top 10. Meridell eventually became 9th.

They managed beat the [[Virtupets Space Station|Space Station]] in the first round, but were beaten by [[Roo Island]] in Round Two. When the time came to assign blame for the improbable loss, most of the criticism was aimed at defenseman [[Wyett Tuggins]], who was repeatedly put to shame by the brilliant play of Roo Island's [[Fenny Vail]]. As a result, journeyman [[Luvea Trivon]] took his place in the 2007 games.

After a few uneventful years for Lost Desert their chance to shine came in 09' where they made it to the finals and placed third after being defeated by the eventual winners [[Krawk Island]], but being able to defeat the initial top seeds, [[Kreludor]]. Thus expectations were high when [[Altador Cup V]] came around, where Lost Desert were the odd on favorites. Though they hit a rough patch 2/3 into the season, they were able to keep it together and eventually win the Cup!

The next Cup came and everyone watched on what would happen to Lost Desert. Surprisingly, they were beaten easily by many teams and fell to the 4th bracket, the farthest any winner have gone after the year they won. Not accepting their great fall, they fought hard to win the tier and they did, ending up in 13th place.

With a reputation to reclaim, the Lost Desert went in with high expectations for [[Altador Cup VII]]. They had mixed success, winning the majority of their matches but not keeping up with the years' favorites. As a result, their abilities as they stood could only take them so far, as they finished 5th for the third time.

In the [[Altador Cup VIII]] they fell back to their dissapointing results from [[Altador Cup VI]]. And ended up 12th. The call for a change in the roster became thus even louder than before.

Team Lost Desert experienced their absolute worst ranking ever in the [[Altador Cup IX]]. No goal was enough and no victory was a satisfaction for their final 16th ranking. A huge disappointment for all the fans.

'''Kreludor's [[Altador Cup|Yooyuball]] team''' is not the most physically gifted team, but is considered the most disciplined and fundamentally sound group in game. Able to befuddle defenders with torrents of crisp passes and a labrynth of picks and blocks, Kreludor has been known to take their more talented opponents and tie them in knots.

In the 2007 [[Altador Cup]], Kreludor did not participate. They were replaced by Shenkuu, but returned in 2008 replacing Kiko Lake. Although storming the competition in 09', going into the bracket as the top seed, they had to settle for fourth after defeats from [[Shenkuu]] and the [[Lost Desert]].

During the [[Altador Cup V]] Kreludor was a top contender and though they entered the finals in 1st, they left in 2nd.

In 2011's [[Altador Cup VI]], Kreludor made the finals once again but got knocked out by [[Krawk Island]]. Despite so, they were able to pull a win against [[Maraqua]] in order to secure 3rd and get the bronze. Hungry for a win in [[Altador Cup VII]], the team was truly dedicated in their matches. Under the new system of play, the team was able to secure first place in every single round, which effectively placed them in first place and winners of Altador Cup VII.

In response to dropping to the 7th place after their victory of the Cup in [[Altador Cup VII]] the Kreludian team decided to strengthen their attack by trading defender [[Coco Metrone]] for Krawk Islands attacker [[Ealyn Hawkshanks]]. Therefore their formation changed from 2+2 to 3+1. In the [[Altador Cup IX]] this however did not prove fruitful. Though they managed to score a lot, too many yooyu's ended in their on goal. THey finished 7th again.

'''Krawk Island's [[Altador Cup|Yooyuball]] team''' is filled with "loveable winners" who have managed to pull together and win most of their matches. Their fans are the most enthusiastic, but due to the team's failures are also the most suffering. It was hoped [[Altador Cup 2006]] would be the year "Ol' Dash and the gang" would take the win, and despite being expected not even to pass Round 1, they continued to play to Round 3.

Led by forward [["Dasher" Soley]] (who has hinted he may retire after the tournament of 2006) and ''Goalkeeper'' [[Garven Hale]] (whose skills allowed them to progress through the tournament), it was hoped [[Altador Cup 2007]] would be another spectacular year, especially with the addition of defenseman [[Zayle Sufhaux]] (who replaced last year's starter, [[Hoke Lemtry]]). Unfortunately they lost to the "underdog" team that was [[Shenkuu]] on the finals, earning them 4th place.

Hoping that [[Altador Cup III]] was finally their year, Krawk Island was surely the favorite to win 2008. The roster was to be the same, and both veterans "Dasher" Soley and Garven Hale were ready to finally win Krawk Island a cup. After a strong stretch all the way to the finals, they only needed to beat [[Shenkuu]] and [[Roo Island]] to win the cup. After beating Shenkuu, which surely was sweet revenge after losing to the previous year's cup, only Roo Island stood on their way to coveted Altador Cup. But another shocking lost(Like the previous before to Shenkuu) paved way to Krawk Island as they lost to Roo Island to earn them 2nd place. The new found rivalry between these two teams has proven to be a great one.

To [[Altador Cup IV]] Krawk Island went, and they were sure ready to finally win a cup as the sole remaining out of the "Original Four" ([[Haunted Woods]], [[Darigan Citadel]], and Roo Island being the others)to not have won yet. Like the previous year, no roster changes appeared in 2009 so it was now or never, cause "Dasher" Soley seem ready to retire soon. As well like the previous, they blazed through to the Finals, with major accomplishments to major disappointments (ie: A sweep from Kreludor) but still earning them a 2nd seed spot through the finals. After quite a major victory from "[[Yooyuball]]" powerhouse, [[Lost Desert]], they only needed to beat [[Shenkuu]] to finally win. The match between Shenkuu and Krawk Island was a sure classic as this two teams had battled it out many times before, with the two major matches before giving way to a win for both teams, so now this was a deciding factor, who would rein supreme. Finally, Krawk Island had done it, with a intense battle between the pirates and ninjas, Krawk Island finally won the match and with it the Altador Cup earning them their first cup.

In [[Altador Cup V]] talk of the "winner's curse" was very common. While some said that Krawk Island won't fall as hard as the others, while others said they'd fall worse. About a month before sign ups, rumors surfaced that [["Dasher" Soley]] had finally retired. And when the rumors were proven true, with Hale becoming team captain, even the Krawk Island supporters were worried. However, when Soley's replacement, [[Feldon "Dinksy" Collibridge]], injured her right leg, Krawk Island had to call Soley out of his retirement for on last season. As all of [[Neopia]] held their breath to see how Dasher's Squad would do, Krawk Island got off to a pedestrian start. Trading wins with losses, they entered the finals in 6th place, though after loosing to [[Virtupets]] they finished the season in 7th.

With "Dasher" Soley retiring after his replacement was okay, [[Feldon "Dinksy" Collibridge]] replaced him. She helped the team get back to its glory and get back to the top tier. They defeated predicted-to-win [[Kreludor]] and fought with [[Virtupets]] for their second chance to get the Cup but slightly fell apart and ended up 2nd. They are the only team that got into the Top 4 5 times.

[[Altador Cup VII]] and its infamous new format came as a threat to the team's stability, as it did with most teams. However, the team still did relatively well, claiming wins where wins were due. However, they had little to stand up to the top 4 of the year, with [[Mystery Island]] and [[Meridell]] nearly sweeping them, and [[Kreludor]] and [[Darigan Citadel]] successfully sweeping them on their first encounters. Without that added power that Krawk Island is famous for, they faltered and met with 7th place, same as [[Altador Cup V]] and thus their worst position to date.

in 2014 the Team replaced their star player [[Ealyn Hawkshanks]] for the Kreludian defender [[Coco Metrone]]. She was placed Centre Defender in Team Krawk Island. Thus the Krawks changed they're default Yooyuball formation from 2+2 to a 1+3 formation. The addition to the defence wasn't much of an upgrade for Krawk Island in [[Altador Cup IX]]. They couldn't keep up with the top eventhough they had some sweeps. And so Krawk Island sadly ended up a shocking 8th in the rankings. Their worst position ever.

'''Kiko Lake's [[Altador Cup|Yooyuball]] team''' is a strong contender, but entered 2006 with a lot to prove, due to the injury of [[Helmo Timm]], the flashy (yet erratic) play of goalkeeper [[Ditan Colb]], and their superstar defender [[Meela Kitah]] coming off the worst year of her career. Not making it past the first round, fans hoped for a surprise in 2007, similar to that of [[Roo Island]]'s team, though many believed they wouldn't make it past the Round-Robin Phase. With the addition of forward [[Moni Vyshan]], they hoped the team would be more competitive than the previous year's.

En route to AC III, they were sidelined by a rock slide. Kiko Lake entered AC IV with a drastic line up change fans thought would help them a lot. Although this new line-up beat Maraqua in the first game which led to be a confidence booster, they later fell from grace and into the final bracket being beaten by Terror Mountain, placing them 14th. And after making no changes to their line up in [[Altador Cup V|2010]] they were not expected to do much better. Though after beating expected contender [[Shenkuu]] in game one, they didn't play well after leaving them in 16th place at the end of the finals.

[[Altador Cup VI]] had the Kiko Lakers excited for some time, holding 11th place for much of the second round-robin. However, as they began to falter against stronger teams, Teams Shenkuu and [[Brightvale]] kicked them out to fourth tier. Then, going into finals, they lost against [[Mystery Island]]. However, after losing against [[Faerieland]], they finished 16th.

Under the new system of play introduced in [[Altador Cup VII]], Team Kiko Lake had a massive improvement over previous years' performance. Starting off incredibly strong, they were able to defeat primary threats such as [[Meridell]] and [[Tyrannia]] in the first round. Continuing this trend into the second round, fans were shocked when they pulled off three sweeps in a row against [[Maraqua]], [[Moltara]], and [[Faerieland]]. However, progressing into the third round, they slowed down to a point where in the fourth round, they didn't claim a single Yooyuball win. Regardless, the Kikos finished strong in 6th, a massive improvement over previous underwhelming finishes.

In [[Altador Cup VIII]] their arrogance got the better of Kiko Lake. They took their former success for granted and had a weak performance. They finished 14th.

By [[Altador Cup IX]] Kiko Lake had learned from their mistakes they made last year. They restored their fans trust by making a strong appearance. Their main strength was Yooyuball, they were even able to defeat Haunted Woods and Moltara in Yooyuball. Although their fierce play in Yooyuball wasn't enough for a top5 ranking, Kiko Lake did reach their old level by finishing 6th.

Team Haunted Woods

The '''Haunted Woods [[Altador Cup|Yooyuball]] team''' subscribes to the old saying "defense wins championships," and has built its team to shut down forwards and force mistakes which create easy scoring opportunities for them, requires plenty of discipline and determination from the other team to defeat them. The Haunted Woods won the Altador Cup of 2006.

With the retirement of veteran defender [[Chelo Binay]] in 2007, it was questioned whether the defensive unit of the team would be as good as last years. If the playing of newcomer [[Autrey Fulse]] was any indication, Haunted Woods fans with hopes of back-to-back titles wouldn't need to worry. However, the favourites going into last year's tournament were [[Altador]], [[Faerieland]], and [[Mystery Island]], so it's uncertain how the year would go. A disappointment to Haunted Woods fans was a drop from a championship to 7th, then continuing a gradual slide from grace with a 8th in [[Altador Cup III|'08]] and 10th in [[Altador Cup IV|'09]]. But in [[Altador Cup V|2010]], in hope of stopping their loosing skid, they added a new Centre Defender [["Brains" Mortigan]]. However, they in fact did worse than the previous year, finishing 12th.

The team crawled back up from the wreckage in [[Altador Cup VI]], and though they weren't quite able to reach second tier, the team stayed strong to push up one spot to 11th. The team was defeated by [[Shenkuu]] but won against [[Brightvale]].

[[Altador Cup VII]] was a rough year for the Haunted Woods, with their Yooyuball record being quite weak. In fact, in their 24 matches, only once did they win Yooyuball. However, their side-game ability was much better, which enabled them to push up the rankings yet again to 9th place.

2013 was the lucky year for Team Haunted Woods. [[Altador Cup VIII]] was probably the best Cup for Haunted Woods in 5 years. They swept many teams and as the tournament went on they kept getting even better. However, they're performances were only average, and so they finished 9th in a tie with [[Team Maraqua]].
In the next year an old veteran who helped to achieve the Cup in the first year, [[Wan Dirx]] decided to retire from Yooyuball. He made this decision for the better of the Team, and to clear his place for new young energy. Fans noted that he will always be remembered as a legendary defender. His replacement is [[Crade Talvos]], a [[Wraith]] [[Draik]].

In [[Altador Cup IX]] Haunted Woods was once again a contestant for the title thanks to the sharpness of the young talent Crade Talvos. Old times were reborn when it quickly became clear that Haunted Woods would become a serious favorite to win the Cup. They swept almost every team with sky-high numbers. The moment of truth came in the fourth round when they faced off with the two other favorites: Virtupets and Moltara. But they were no match for the Haunties. When it was all over Haunted Woods victorized and won the Altador Cup IX! And so, eight years after their first victory to become the first winner of the Altador Cup, Haunted Woods has become the very first team to win the Altador Cup twice! A both historic aswelll as ironic achievement.

In 2006, '''Faerieland's [[Altador Cup|Yooyuball]] team''' featured one of the most potent offensive attacks in the game, consisting of three forwards, making for one of the biggest stories going into the Altador Cup. Their trio of quick, undersized forwards had a tendency to wear down against larger and more physical opponents, however, and their fans were stunned when they were defeated by such forwards from Mystery Island in Round 1.

In 2007, Faerieland decided to switch back to two forwards, adding defender [[Elbin Towse]], who showed vast improvement in practice and then in the regular season the past year, moving Faerieland up to 15th place in Altador Cup II. In 2008, Ciona Broan was added to replace Elbin for her tough tackling. Unfortunately, they didn't improve, but they did remain 15th. With no changes they returned for the next year, however, the hype didn't quite help Faerieland, giving it last place in [[Altador Cup IV]]. Thus the expectations for Faerieland weren't too high in [[Altador Cup V|2010]] as they again made no roster changes. However they did improve, getting 15th place out of 18, rather than 15th out of 16th and winning eight Yooyuball games, more than ever before.

Once [[Altador Cup VI]] came around, coupled with new uniform colours, things continued to remain unchanged, despite adding Left Forward [[Elbin Kroe]] from [[Tyrannia]]. They floated around the fourth tier for nearly the entire time, then lost to [[Lost Desert]] and won against [[Kiko Lake]] to finish 15th.

Despite [[Altador Cup VII]]'s new format, it did nothing to change Faerieland's collapsing fortunes. The team was stuck in a rut for the entire time; they couldn't even keep being swept on two of the four occasions they faced [[Moltara]]. Likewise, when pit against tougher teams, they crumbled. With a win-loss-draw ratio of 6-74-6, it was no surprise that they fell to last place, tying for the position with [[Altador]].

No one was surprised when Faerieland was at the bottom of [[Altador Cup VIII]] and [[Altador Cup IX]] once again. Ranking respectively 16th and 17th. However, there still is hope. In AC VIII, Altador made it 2nd and in AC IX, Moltara made it 3rd. So perhaps there is hope for Faerieland in the near future.

'''Darigan Citadel's Yooyuball team''' have few major weaknesses, although they have been criticized in the past for playing too easy a schedule during the regular season, and as a result are unprepared when the tournament comes. To fix this, Darigan Citadel relented and added more matches against a few of the better teams for the 2006 season. Due to this they didn't finish as high in the standings as they normally did, but it gave them the toughness to play in the games which mattered the most (or at least this is what the fans hoped). Their tactic paid off, and they managed to place 2nd in the [[Altador Cup]], ending their reputation as post-season underachievers.

Rather than rest, however, the Citadel's team made an upgrade for the ''Goalkeeper'', replacing the less-than-mobile [[Mungo Lifler]] with promising net-minder [[Reshar Collifey]] for the 2007 season. And due to the success of the previous year's tactic, Darigan again faced a string of difficult teams for their regular schedule. Darigan was from the start considered the favourite of the [[Altador Cup 2007|2007 Altador Cup]], maintaining a position at the top of the leader-board for the round robin. In the finals it faced off against [[Roo Island#Yooyuball|Roo Island]]'s team and finally won the Cup on July 9th. However, they also fell to the curse of previous winner [[Haunted Woods]] and subsequent winner Roo Island to not be able to reach the standard again, placing seventh the following year and the year after that, although showing promise initially, placing seventh again after a round one loss to [[Mystery Island]].

Coming into [[Altador Cup V]], Darigan Citadel was favourite to win the Cup, so the expectations were high. Even though they were swept by [[Brightvale]] on day one, they roared back winning 15 of their next 17 games, soaring to the top of the standings. Ending the season with a record of 23-4-7, they were in 3rd place going into the finals, getting ready to face off against [[Lost Desert]]. Though they lost, they were able to beat [[Roo Island]] in round two to end the season with the bronze.

Going into [[Altador Cup VI]], many teams were on the watch for the Darigan crew, who were looking for a second win. However, they didn't manage to hold in first tier for long and ended the round-robin in the second tier. Losing to [[Tyrannia]] in the first finals round, they defeated [[Terror Mountain]] to secure 7th place, the 3rd time they have been in that spot.

Going into [[Altador Cup VII]], with a new style of tournament, there was some question whether or not the team would return to its former glory in Altador Cup II. However, they showed the same determination and power that they had in the early days of the Altador Cup, grabbing a multitude of sweeps. They especially looked strong at the fourth round, pulling off four sweeps in a row against [[Altador]], [[Tyrannia]], [[Krawk Island]], AND [[Maraqua]]. However, having faced [[Kreludor]] four times and lost all of them (the last of which was a sweep), they were forced back. Despite this weakness, they climbed back up to 4th.

After missing the podium by an inch in the last tournament, Darigan Citadel was determined to make it to the top 3 in [[Altador Cup VIII]], though they quickly discovered the dream to be a little to good to be true. They were swept by Tyrannia and Altador and lost in the brackets from Roo Island and Krawk Island. Consequently, they ended up 5th, dropping one spot compared to last year.

In the [[Altador Cup IX]] the Citadel performed strong once again, almost creating a personal sweeping record. Their main opponents weren't the powerhouses of old tournaments, but instead newly risen forces such as Moltara, a reborn Haunted Woods, and Virtupets. This also included the title-defending Tyrannia, who didn't suffer from the alleged "Winners Curse". Reaching the top 3 was proven impossible in the very end, but they did claim the 4th place position in a tie with Tyrannia, making it their third good year in a row in which Team Darigan Citadel conquered the top 5.

Considering their team's fearsome nature, it may be hard to believe Darigan's players are avid practical jokers. "Frein's the worst one," forward Tandrak Shaye revealed. "He got his nickname, 'The Terror,' long before playing Yooyuball. You learn quick with that one -- if you need something from the kitchen, you'd best take your food with you, or else it will be tampered with. Make no mistake, however -- we're all business out on the field."

Team Darigan Citadel is the only team who has never placed below 7th at any Altador Cup.

Team Brightvale

'''[[Brightvale]]'s Yooyuball team''' was known for being the most crooked line up of cheating and rough players, despite being from the land of wisdom and learning. They know the rules of the game very well, and use it to their advantage by giving sharp jabs to the ribs when no one's looking and other such tricks to win. Their reputation of rough playing was once even greater than that of [[Darigan Citadel]] and the [[Haunted Woods]].

After being defeated by the Haunted Woods in Round Two of the 2006 games and finishing 8th, Brightvale claimed to have learned the error of their ways for many different reasons (not wanting to shame King Hagan, their tactics were no match for the tournament's better teams, increased popularity means more merchandise sales, etc.). Taking a cue from team captain [["Squeaky" Tressif]], they turned over a new leaf and decided to play fair. While their playing style during the regular season indicated they have cleaned up their act, they finished 12th in the 2007 season, four spots worse then the year before. There was talk of Brightvale playing dirty again in the 2008 cup, but they took the high road and signed rookie sensation goalkeeper [[Erli Quinnock]], who overall was a disappointment and the team finished dead last in the cup.

In 2009, Brightvale did not participate in the cup because [[King Hagan]] said, "It has been my personal observation that in the weeks leading up to the arrival of this grand sporting spectacle, there's been far too much banner-making and memorising of chants going on. As a result, the very foundation upon which this kingdom's reputation is based, its scholarship, has fallen prey to a serious case of neglect. Therefore, until my subjects have shown an ability to strike a harmonious balance between work and play, we shall forthwith be suspending our participation in the Altador Cup." When asked to respond to claims that the real reason behind Brightvale's departure from the Altador Cup was a string of embarrassing losses to rival kingdom [[Meridell]] (which is ruled by Hagan's brother [[King Skarl]]), His Majesty gruffly declined to comment, stating that "such accusations are not worth dignifying with a reply."

In 2010, after their one year hiatus, Brightvale decided to bring their original goalkeeper [[Orie Dinelle]] back, while sending Erli Quinnock to [[Kiko Lake]]. Expectations weren't too high for team Brightvale, however they shocked [[Neopia]] by winning 6 out of their first 10 games, 3 of which were sweeps. However their great success did not last too long, as they lost 5 straight games and then 9 of the next 11. Although they lost four straight going into the finals, they beat [[Faerieland]] and [[Mystery Island]] respectively to enter and exit the finals in 13th place.

In [[Altador Cup VI]], results continued their trend of improvement since 2008. This time, they were able to break third tier for the first time since 2007, finishing in 12th after being defeated by [[Roo Island]] and [[Haunted Woods]].

2012 saw a great change to Brightvale's lineup, in which team captain "Squeaky" Tressif moved on to Roo Island's team, while Roo Island sent [[Gordo Gunnels]] to be Brightvale's new left defender. In doing so, [[Montecito]] became the new team captain. Brightvale fell to a different pattern than usual; while they usual start strong then fade, they saw their peak in the second and third rounds. Able to hold their own against stronger teams, they continued improving with an 11th place finish, in a tie with [[Terror Mountain]].

In 2013 things didn't improve for Brightvale, the first days of the tournament started hopeful but eventually things went back to the level we're used of with Brightvale. Ending up 11th again.

At the [[Altador Cup IX]] Brightvale had a rough start but grew as the tournament continued. From place five in Round 2 they climed up to place four, three and two in the following rounds. They made some impressive victories against teams like Roo Island and Lost Desert, this resulted in the 10th place this year. That 10th place of Brightvale is their best performance since 2006.

Having lost in Round One of the 2006 tournament, many were lead to believe Altador was out of practice after the thousand year hiatus, which prompted them to work hard during the following year's practices, exhibitions, and regular season matches, making them fighting fit and ready to prove the loss was a fluke. Team Captain [["Trapper" Remis]] cautioned the "so-called experts" that picking against them was madness, and was quoted telling the press, "After all, let's not forget who invented the game. No one's gonna stop us from taking back what's rightfully ours." But after placing 13th twice, 14th once, and then 15th and 17th three times, excuses were gone for the Altador team. However, in [[Altador Cup VI]], they finished behind only one other team in Slushie Slinger.

Team Maraqua

'''Maraqua's [[Altador Cup|Yooyuball]] team''' could be described as "a house divided," due to the antics of their star forward. [[Elon Hughlis]] is more concerned with his personal accomplishments than actual wins and losses, making him a headache to the team. He looks down on his teammates who aren't as talented as him, and they endure him due to his tremendous ability.

After getting beaten in the first round of [[Altador Cup 2006]], fans thought Maraqua would cut its losses and get rid of Elon Hughlis. When it became apparent that Hughlis wasn't leaving, they decide to trade other foward, [[Jair Tollet]] for [[Roo Island]]'s [[Dayla]] (injured in preseason). Considering Hughlis insisted on scoring most of the team's goals, Maraqua decided having three defenders in the lineup worked best for them, adding hefty defence man [[Oten Runeu]] to their starting unit. As a result, Maraqua looked to have one of the toughest squads in Neopia to score against, later proved to be false after placing ninth and tenth in the following two cups.

However, in 09, even though Maraqua was defeated in the first match by [[Kiko Lake]], the team was able to win the second bracket, putting them in 5th place, a drastic improvement from their following years of 10th, 9th, and 10th.

In [[Altador Cup V]], the team was hyped about a lot. However, due to a tough series of matches where they had to face the top three teams; [[Lost Desert]], [[Kreludor]], and [[Darigan Citadel]] in a row, and not faring well against any of them, they dropped from a strong fifth at the end of round one, to a struggling eighth at the end of round two. However, In the Finals they shined once again, beating [[Meridell]] who were consistently placed in the top four before being slightly edged out near the end by [[Roo Island]], the defeating [[Virtupets Space Station]] to claim the same spot they claimed the year before, 5th.

In 2011's [[Altador Cup VI]] they added [[Lost Desert]]'s defender Lamelle Turow because Dorina Hals retired. With a teammate from the winning team of Altador Cup V, people thought that Maraqua would have a very good shot at winning. Though they weren't quite able to play up to par with the other top tier teams, they managed to claim 4th after losing to [[Virtupets]] and [[Kreludor]], the best they've ever done.

Under new gameplay rules introduced in [[Altador Cup VII]], Maraqua had no signs of suffering in the first round, where they had generally respectable showings despite facing tremendous threats in the bracket, such as [[Krawk Island]], [[Darigan Citadel]], and (we had thought at the time) [[Virtupets Space Station]]. However, after [[Kiko Lake]]'s sweeping of Maraqua, things seemed to fall downhill. Still, Maraqua's greatness varied; for example, they were defeated by [[Tyrannia]] one time, then swept them the next time they met. With all things considered, Maraqua fell from last year's greatness to 8th.

The demise of Team Maraqua lingered on as they became 9th in a tie in [[Altador Cup VIII]].

In the [[Altador Cup IX]] Maraqua made a great start in the first three brackets. This made the hope grow that they would finally return from the shadow that has been haunting them for years. Regretable, Maraqua became last in the final two brackets. Dropping down in the rankings to the 12th place. Their worst placing ever, surpassing the scores of 2006 and 2008.

But due to star forward [[Keetra Deile]], she uses her brilliance and talent to elevate the play of those around her, making the team seem better than one would initially think. During [[Altador Cup 2006]], winning the tournament was viewed highly unlikely by the fans, but they believed an "upset" in the first or second round of the tournament wouldn't be out of the question. With their defeat by the [[Lost Desert]] in Round One, they failed to live up to the hype.

In [[Altador Cup 2007]], the Virtupets is once more led by up-and-coming superstar Keetra Deele, who vowed to take on much more responsibility for the team's scoring needs that year. With Deele picking up the scoring slack and newcomer [[Sela Pretore]] stepping in for underwhelming defender [[Kerib Vickers]], it was hoped the Space Station could rise up and surprise the experts. Despite a solid start, Virtupets would finish the season in dead last. In [[Altador Cup III|2008]] they got a new goalkeeper which helped them climb up the standings, finishing 12th in '08 and '09. But experts are still baffled when in [[Altador Cup V|2010]] Virtupets were a contender for the finals, and finished 6th.

In [[Altador Cup VI]] Virtupets did better than their previous years, scoring a near-perfect Make Some Noise record. They fought against [[Maraqua]] and [[Krawk Island]] for the Cup and emerged as the winners of the Altador Cup.

With a new style of play in [[Altador Cup VII]], there was no telling what would happen with the alleged "Winner's Curse." Some thought that due to the dedication that they showed last year, they wouldn't fall as hard as the other teams afflicted by the curse have. Others said that the new style would ruin the team. After only one round of gameplay, it became apparent that the team would fall hard, losing key matches and even drawing in Yooyuball against the traditionally bottom-barrel team [[Moltara]]. They still fared well against middle-tier teams, but their occasional run-in with top-tier threats never ended well. The result was a fall of [[Lost Desert]] proportions, ending the tournament in 13th.

2013 would become a disastrious year for Team Virtupets. The achieved a historical low amount of wins and finished their lowest position since Altador Cup II. Team Virtupets made it 16th, in a tie with Team Faerieland in [[Altador Cup IX]].

Only a year after their greatest disaster, Team Virtupets rised up in [[Altador Cup IX]] to the level they had 3 years ago. Keetra Deile and her teammates managed to sweep topteams like Darigan Citadel, Krawk Island and Kreludor. Becoming a major favorite for the title. However, in the fourth round Virtupets entered the same bracket as the other top favorites: Haunted Woods and Moltara. They were able to beat Moltara but lost to Haunted Woods. Thus in the end they had to settle with silver for the 2nd place.

'''[[Tyrannia]]'s [[Altador Cup|Yooyuball]] team''' was assembled a few years before 2006 from a group made almost entirely of players whose original teams had given up on them. After a series of trades and waiver wire acquisitions, Tyrannia began to transform its motley bunch of cast-offs into a selfless squad of warriors. Driven by a desire to show everyone how wrong they were to write them off, Tyrannia's "Forsaken Five" have gone on to become one of the most successful Yooyuball teams.

After their defeat in the first round playoff by [[Roo Island]] in 2006, many expected Tyrannia to retool their lineup in 2007. Rather than act on this, Tyrannia's managers believed they were simply unlucky, due to the fact it was hard to imagine anyone defeating Roo Island. They kept the tight knit "Forsaken Five" together, believing it would be a horrible mistake to break up one of the best Yooyuball teams in Neopia over a single playoff loss. However, their minds changed after the 2009 season, trading Evrem Guilako for Terror Mountain's Elbin Kroe. However it appears they got the bad end of this deal as they finished 10th, while [[Terror Mountain]] finished 9th.

[[Elbin Kroe]] moved to [[Faerieland]] before [[Altador Cup VI]] started. Tyrannia hired [["Spikes" Barmie]] to be their new Right Defender. This helped Tyrannia and the team turned into a fierce competitor. They defeated [[Darigan Citadel]] before they were stopped by [[Meridell]] and ended up in 6th place.

[[Altador Cup VII]] was a new format, and whether it would help Tyrannia or not was debatable. They had a mixed bag of success and failure over the first few matches, alternating from pulling off sweeps to being the ones being swept. They began to hit their stride in the second and third rounds of the tournament, before the fourth round forsaw their collapse. However, despite their lower 10th place finish, they proved they were still strong, and the spirit of the "Forsaken Five" lives on.

In the preparation for [[Altador Cup VIII]] they exchanged Goalkeepers with [[Team Moltara]], therefore gaining the strength of Mor Gollog. The team spirit that year was never better and the mechanism functionated like an oiled machine. Already soon in the competition they proved themself even worthy for the title. As the time went on their only rival for the Cup was Altador, in the decisive match between them, Mor Gollog proved himself of great value and reassured the Cup for Team Tyrannia. An impressive achievement that no one saw coming. But Loryche was always sure of to be possible.

The expactations were low for Tyrannia at the start of [[Altador Cup IX]]. Over the past six years, winning teams were tormented by the "Winners Curse" the year after their grand victory. Team Tyrannia however fought hard and shocked the world of Yooyuball. They were able to compete with the favorites, breaking through their "unbeated" status. Unfortunately Tyrannia simply wasn't good enough but still managed to finish 4th in a tie with Darigan Citadel. Their top5 position was proof that Tyrannia is in fact the first team ever who doesn't suffer the Winners Curse.

'''[[Terror Mountain]]'s [[Altador Cup|Yooyuball]] team''' was known as "the worst team a fortune can buy" in 2006, due to the collection of talented players who failed to come together and play as a team when they were defeated by [[Darigan Citadel]]. Terror Mountain's management has since begun moving away from their overpriced free agent signings of years past and started rebuilding for the future. The centrepiece of the youth movement was [[Osielle Lidel]], a speedy young forward who stepped in to replace [[Tico Tems]] in 2007. While Lidel has the makings of a future superstar, it could be a year or two before he has the kind of team around him ready to seriously challenge the Altador Cup.

In [[Altador Cup V|2010]] they made a big trade to [[Tyrannia]]: [[Elbin Kroe]] for [[Evrem Guilako]]. Due to this trade and their record setting [[Shootout Showdown]] record, they came in 9th place.

In [[Altador Cup VI]] they improved very much and got out of the third tier and fought to get 5th place. They were defeated by [[Meridell]] and [[Darigan Citadel]] and ended in 8th place.

Under the new system of play, Terror Mountain's crew seemed to suffer greatly - claiming only one Yooyuball win in the first two rounds. However, in the second half of the tournament, they cleaned up their act and began to pick wins here and there, though still generally under-performing against top tier threats. Despite their hardships, the team managed to slide into a tie with [[Brightvale]] for 11th.

In [[Altador Cup VIII]] Terror Mountain was more focused then ever. They started sloppy but grew in strength all the way to the top. In the end this was good enough for a 7th place, the best ranking ever for Prytariel's team.

A year after their best ranking ever, the expectations were high and tensed for Team Terror Mountain. Perhaps a bit too tensed for the players in [[Altador Cup IX]]. They couldn't get into their usual flow and when they finally did in the last round it was too late. Still, they made it to the 13th place and tied with Roo Island and Shenkuu.

Joining the [[Altador Cup]] in 2007, '''[[Shenkuu]]'s Yooyuball team''' is regarded by [[Altador Cup]] enthusiasts as an exciting young team with plenty of promise, but they were expected not to make much noise in the tournament, having too many holes in their team. The inexperience of goalie [[Xana DiLanche]], the unpredictable health of defender [[Turo Rafels]], and the team's overall lack of tournament play are all serious concerns. However, the stunning talent of young forwards [[Mirsha Grelinek]] and [[Foltaggio]] may cause a few upsets.

The team surpassed expectations in the [[Altador Cup II|2007 Cup]], defeating [[Krawk Island]] in the third place game. The following year in [[Altador Cup III]], they dropped one spot to fourth place. In [[Altador Cup IV]], Shenkuu shockingly defeated top seed [[Kreludor]] to reach the finals, but lost to [[Krawk Island]] was left in second. Although they were favourites going into [[Altador Cup V]] thanks to their strong prior performances, Shenkuu's 2010 bid ended in a very disappointing 11th place finish.

[[Altador Cup VI]] continued Shenkuu's inconsistency. Finishing yet again in third tier at the end, the team finished 10th after defeating [[Haunted Woods]], but losing to [[Roo Island]].

After two years of subpar performance, the worry that Shenkuu would never return to the powerhouse team it once was persisted as [[Altador Cup VII]]'s new system threatened the stability of certain powerhouses. The year was fraught with peril, as [[Mystery Island]] suddenly emerged as a powerhouse. Losing a good deal of their matches, things did not bode well for the ninjas, which resulted in a dismal 16th place finish.

In 2012, Team Shenkuu made a lot of changes in their roster. Club icon Foltaggio was replaced for the Altadorian defender [[Timu]]. Therefore the formation became a 1+3 with Mirsha Grelinek as only Forward.

Eventhough Team Shenkuu made a jump in [[Altador Cup VIII]] to the 12th place. Still it did not change the fact that Shenkuu didn't score higher than the 10th place over the last 4 years. The nightmare for Team Shenkuu keeps on lasting, and is generally not being seen as a powerhouse anymore. The reason for their bad results is probably because of their great desire for the 1st place since [[Altador Cup IV]], but not having the capacity and thus overestimating themselfs.

After a minor growth last year, Shenkuu had hoped for more in [[Altador Cup IX]]. Sadly Shenkuu simply cannot do any better. Mirsha Grelinek and teammates did their best but 13th in a tie with Roo Island and Terror Mountain was all they could.

'''Roo Island's [[Altador Cup|Yooyuball]] team''' consists of also-rans and inexperienced rookies, but received a huge boost when [[Lilo Blumario]], one of the game's top players, decided to take a pay cut and sign up with his hometown club. In what was considered improbable and the biggest story of [[Altador Cup 2006]], Roo Island managed to reach Round 3 of the tournament, being defeated by [[Darigan Citadel]] and placing as number four. After a voting of fans and players that Roo Island had the ugliest jersey, fans hoped to do even better this past tournament,with a new uniform and the team's signing of [[Maraqua#Colour|Maraquan]] forward [[Jair Tollet]], who was traded to Roo Island for [[Dayla]], the red Lenny (She got injured in the first practice and never played again). This helped Roo Island make it to the final match, losing to [[Darigan Citadel]], and overall placing in second.

Third time proved to be the charm, when in [[Altador Cup III|2008]], Roo Island beat Krawk Island in the Altador Cup final, claiming the cup. In 09, however, Roo Island placed ninth. In [[Altador Cup V|2010]], Roo Island was questioned for making no changes to their lineup in the offseason. However, though a pedestrian start first half, they kicked it up a notch before the mid-season break by winning 16 of the last 19 matches. This catapulted them up to 4th place going into the finals. [[Kreludor]] was able to sneak out a victory in the first round, and [[Darigan Citadel]] defeated them in the second round, leaving 4th place to Roo Island. They were contenders for the Cup in 11'. Even though their Yooyuball record was great, their side game performance wasn't up to par and ended back in 9th place.

[[Altador Cup VII]]'s new style didn't fare well for Roo Island, and frequent matchups against powerful teams did not fare well. Further, with [[Mystery Island]]'s upgrade to a powerhouse force, many worried of what else would come to the Roos. Even with a roster change, trading popular defender [[Gordo Gunnels]] with equally popular [["Squeaky" Tressif]], the Roos suffered. The result was a 14th place finish, a position far below what is expected of them.

In [[Altador Cup VIII]] Roo Island regained its strenght. Starting the tournament with a full sweep against teams like Lost Desert, Mystery Island, Maraqua and Shenkuu. And gained victory while fighting powerhouses like [[Team Darigan Citadel]] and [[Team Kreludor]]. Eventually they were only unable to defeat the suprises of that years tournament; Altador and Tyrannia, ending up at the 3rd place. But still the best result since their victory of the Cup, proving that Roo Island is still a traditional powerhouse.

Unfortunately, it became very quickly clear that Roo Island wouldn't repeat her previous performance. They lost a lot of marches in [[Altador Cup IX]] but fought bravely. In the end they tied with both Terror Mountain and Shenkuu for the 13th place.

They entered the 2006 Altador Cup with a punishing offensive arsenal few teams could hope to keep pace with, and were the odds-on favourite to bring home the cup despite the shaky status of their goalkeeper. After defeating [[Faerieland]] in Round One, however, Mystery Island's scoring duo was stopped by [[Krawk Island]] goaltender [[Garven Hale]]. The following year, Mystery Island kept the same roster, yet the team was quick to point out they're more wiser and reliant on brains than sheer speed and brute force, making it seem their defeat humbled them to bring out their very best. However in the middle of the season, their star defender [[Maital Koric]] got injured in a game against [[Meridell]] half way through the season and Mystery Island was forced to replace him the the inexperienced [[Vela Binal]]. However, Binal rose to the occasion and they finished 2007 in 6th place, same as the previous year. In [[Altador Cup III|2008]], Mystery Island had a new goalkeeper and a new spirit, hoping to finally crack the top 4. However, they had a rough year and finished 9th. But in [[Altador Cup IV|2009]] they were back to their old ways, finishing 6th. However, their victory was short lived because [[Altador Cup V|the following year]] they finish 14th, the worst they had ever done. [[Altador Cup VI]] continued to pull inconsistent matchups, finishing the year in 14th yet again, after winning against [[Kiko Lake]] and losing to [[Lost Desert]].

After the inclusion of [[Selmon Woulf]] as a replacement for [[Bertie Shurtz]], in [[Altador Cup VII]], the Mystery Island team had an incredibly successful outburst. It was obvious from the beginning; having not lost a single Yooyuball match until towards the end of the second round, they were highly successful throughout all the rounds. Claiming win after win against powerhouses such as [[Lost Desert]] and [[Maraqua]], and even defeating [[Krawk Island]] and [[Meridell]], two favorites going into the tournament, fans saw them as a team to be feared. By the end of the four rounds, Mystery Island soared to a tie for 2nd place, alongside Meridell. In doing so, they went into the tiebreaker match, in which the team was victorious against Meridell and secured 2nd place.

After a historical achievement, Mystery Island gravely disappointed in [[Altador Cup VIII]] where they became 15th.

The series of disappointments were followed by a small growth in the rankings of [[Altador Cup IX]] for Team Mystery Island. They had a very average tournament, in which they won some and lost some. Bounced up and down in de bracket rankings to finally end up 11th of the Altador Cup IX.

'''[[Moltara]]''' joined in [[Altador Cup V]]. There was a lot of hype for them coming into the Cup, expected to be a serious contender, however it would be an understatement to say they were a huge disappointment. Having never won a single [[Yooyuball]] game, they came in 18th place going into the finals, and stayed that way until the end. Though they may not be the best [[Yooyuball]] squad, they have an undeniable fighting spirit.

Unfortunately, [[Altador Cup VI]] gave no new improvements to the team. However, things were looking up when Moltara went into the consolation bracket with 3 Yooyuball wins, including an upset win over powerhouse team [[Krawk Island]], while [[Altador]], the other team in the consolation bracket, had none. However, they lost key games in Yooyuball, winning two and losing two, while Team Altador found an undeniable prowess in Slushie Slinger. As a result, Moltara finished dead last for the second year in a row.

In [[Altador Cup VII]], the new style of play did not affect Moltara's chances very much, but slow improvement was seen, as they swept [[Faerieland]] twice. Though their wins were rare, claiming very few in Yooyuball and a fair amount in the side games, they managed to pull through to climb up the standings slightly, going up to 15th.

By 2013 Moltara tried their chances with a new Goalkeeper, namely the experienced Tyrannian [[Harlis Neyhbol]]. Unluckely the effect of improvement was only temporary. After having their best score ever of a 15th place, they dropped back to the 18th place in [[Altador Cup VIII]].

Moltara started [[Altador Cup IX]] with the objective not to become last this year. Their enthousiasm brought them to a far higher level then anticipated though. They were even for a while a favorite to win the Cup. This dream was however crushed by former winners Haunted Woods and Virtupets. They had to satisfy with the 3rd place. But there was no sadness, because they had written history for their land.

'''Meridell's [[Altador Cup|Yooyuball]] team''' is all about "speed", and is said to be described with that one word. Their superior conditioning allows them to wear down opponents with a relentless flurry of cuts and screens from the opening face-off until the end of a game. Their speed, however, masks the fact they aren't the most accurate or powerful shooters.

They began the 2006 tournament as one of the odds-on favourites to win, having run circles around [[Maraqua#Yooyuball|Maraqua]] in the first round, but "smashed their head on into a brick wall" when they faced [[Darigan]]'s defence in Round Two, finishing 17th. In [[Altador Cup II|2007]] Meridell fans hoped the replacement of reviled ''Left Forward'' [[Vitri Sitol]] with swift scorer [[Gregorgio Maille]] will not only give the team a much needed offensive boost, but also help improve their standing among fans around Neopia.

When the team in fact did worse, the demanding fans wanted more change, so [[Sir Pollonaire Freidl]] was replaced by [[Yoris Obbles]]. This was just the boost they needed, finishing 5th overall in [[Altador Cup III|2008]]. Needless to say expectations were high for Team Meridell in [[Altador Cup V]], but they were a disappointment, finishing 11th overall. Although in [[Altador Cup V|2010]], they fought with [[Roo Island]] for the final spot in the finals, but just fell short, entering the playoffs in 5th place, and leaving in 8th.

[[Altador Cup VI]] was very similar for the Meridell team. Again, they fell just short of first tier to end the round-robin in 5th. However, they managed to defeat both [[Terror Mountain]] and [[Tyrannia]] to secure 5th place, the best they've done since Altador Cup III.

As a team hungry for victory, this team was a favorite to win going into [[Altador Cup VII]]. However, with the new format of gameplay, it was debatable as they have gone without a roster change for the 4th straight year. However, their strength was hardly matched, especially in the second and fourth rounds, where 5 out of the 6 matches were sweeps. Hardly any teams were able to counter the Meridellian's strengths in Yooyuball, with only [[Kiko Lake]], [[Kreludor]], [[Mystery Island]], and [[Brightvale]] avoiding a defeat in that event. However, they lacked a same power as Kreludor and fell in a tiebreaker match against Mystery Island for 2nd, which they lost, placing them in 3rd.

In [[Altador Cup VIII]] they kind of fell back from their great position. They became 6th. Still with pride and glory.

Meridell got hit by bad luck in [[Altador Cup IX]]. Besides from that their play wasn't as fierce as the previous years. But they were entirely eclipsed by top tier teams. Becoming third, fourth, third and fith in their brackets of respectively round 1, 2, 3 and 5. The only luck they had was when they avoided the top teams in round 4 so that they could grap a few extra points to avoid ending out of the top 10. Meridell eventually became 9th.

Team Lost Desert

The '''Lost Desert's [[Altador Cup|Yooyuball]] team''' of 2006 had a lineup which could have done lots of damage in the tournament, but troubles in 2006 ([["Dirty" Navers]]' aggressive tactics and [[Derbi Azar]]'s holdout) made fans wary of them and if they would effectively play. They managed beat the [[Virtupets Space Station|Space Station]] in the first round, but were beaten by [[Roo Island]] in Round Two. When the time came to assign blame for the improbable loss, most of the criticism was aimed at defenseman [[Wyett Tuggins]], who was repeatedly put to shame by the brilliant play of Roo Island's [[Fenny Vail]]. As a result, journeyman [[Luvea Trivon]] took his place in the 2007 games.

After a few uneventful years for Lost Desert their chance to shine came in 09' where they made it to the finals and placed third after being defeated by the eventual winners [[Krawk Island]], but being able to defeat the initial top seeds, [[Kreludor]]. Thus expectations were high when [[Altador Cup V]] came around, where Lost Desert were the odd on favorites. Though they hit a rough patch 2/3 into the season, they were able to keep it together and eventually win the Cup!

The next Cup came and everyone watched on what would happen to Lost Desert. Surprisingly, they were beaten easily by many teams and fell to the 4th bracket, the farthest any winner have gone after the year they won. Not accepting their great fall, they fought hard to win the tier and they did, ending up in 13th place.

With a reputation to reclaim, the Lost Desert went in with high expectations for [[Altador Cup VII]]. They had mixed success, winning the majority of their matches but not keeping up with the years' favorites. As a result, their abilities as they stood could only take them so far, as they finished 5th for the third time.

In the [[Altador Cup VIII]] they fell back to their dissapointing results from [[Altador Cup VI]]. And ended up 12th. The call for a change in the roster became thus even louder than before.

Team Lost Desert experienced their absolute worst ranking ever in the [[Altador Cup IX]]. No goal was enough and no victory was a satisfaction for their final 16th ranking. A huge disappointment for all the fans.

'''Kreludor's [[Altador Cup|Yooyuball]] team''' is not the most physically gifted team, but is considered the most disciplined and fundamentally sound group in game. Able to befuddle defenders with torrents of crisp passes and a labrynth of picks and blocks, Kreludor has been known to take their more talented opponents and tie them in knots.

In the 2007 [[Altador Cup]], Kreludor did not participate. They were replaced by Shenkuu, but returned in 2008 replacing Kiko Lake. Although storming the competition in 09', going into the bracket as the top seed, they had to settle for fourth after defeats from [[Shenkuu]] and the [[Lost Desert]].

During the [[Altador Cup V]] Kreludor was a top contender and though they entered the finals in 1st, they left in 2nd.

In 2011's [[Altador Cup VI]], Kreludor made the finals once again but got knocked out by [[Krawk Island]]. Despite so, they were able to pull a win against [[Maraqua]] in order to secure 3rd and get the bronze. Hungry for a win in [[Altador Cup VII]], the team was truly dedicated in their matches. Under the new system of play, the team was able to secure first place in every single round, which effectively placed them in first place and winners of Altador Cup VII.

In response to dropping to the 7th place after their victory of the Cup in [[Altador Cup VII]] the Kreludian team decided to strengthen their attack by trading defender [[Coco Metrone]] for Krawk Islands attacker [[Ealyn Hawkshanks]]. Therefore their formation changed from 2+2 to 3+1. In the [[Altador Cup IX]] this however did not prove fruitful. Though they managed to score a lot, too many yooyu's ended in their on goal. THey finished 7th again.

'''Krawk Island's [[Altador Cup|Yooyuball]] team''' is filled with "loveable winners" who have managed to pull together and win most of their matches. Their fans are the most enthusiastic, but due to the team's failures are also the most suffering. It was hoped [[Altador Cup 2006]] would be the year "Ol' Dash and the gang" would take the win, and despite being expected not even to pass Round 1, they continued to play to Round 3.

Led by forward [["Dasher" Soley]] (who has hinted he may retire after the tournament of 2006) and ''Goalkeeper'' [[Garven Hale]] (whose skills allowed them to progress through the tournament), it was hoped [[Altador Cup 2007]] would be another spectacular year, especially with the addition of defenseman [[Zayle Sufhaux]] (who replaced last year's starter, [[Hoke Lemtry]]). Unfortunately they lost to the "underdog" team that was [[Shenkuu]] on the finals, earning them 4th place.

Hoping that [[Altador Cup III]] was finally their year, Krawk Island was surely the favorite to win 2008. The roster was to be the same, and both veterans "Dasher" Soley and Garven Hale were ready to finally win Krawk Island a cup. After a strong stretch all the way to the finals, they only needed to beat [[Shenkuu]] and [[Roo Island]] to win the cup. After beating Shenkuu, which surely was sweet revenge after losing to the previous year's cup, only Roo Island stood on their way to coveted Altador Cup. But another shocking lost(Like the previous before to Shenkuu) paved way to Krawk Island as they lost to Roo Island to earn them 2nd place. The new found rivalry between these two teams has proven to be a great one.

To [[Altador Cup IV]] Krawk Island went, and they were sure ready to finally win a cup as the sole remaining out of the "Original Four" ([[Haunted Woods]], [[Darigan Citadel]], and Roo Island being the others)to not have won yet. Like the previous year, no roster changes appeared in 2009 so it was now or never, cause "Dasher" Soley seem ready to retire soon. As well like the previous, they blazed through to the Finals, with major accomplishments to major disappointments (ie: A sweep from Kreludor) but still earning them a 2nd seed spot through the finals. After quite a major victory from "[[Yooyuball]]" powerhouse, [[Lost Desert]], they only needed to beat [[Shenkuu]] to finally win. The match between Shenkuu and Krawk Island was a sure classic as this two teams had battled it out many times before, with the two major matches before giving way to a win for both teams, so now this was a deciding factor, who would rein supreme. Finally, Krawk Island had done it, with a intense battle between the pirates and ninjas, Krawk Island finally won the match and with it the Altador Cup earning them their first cup.

In [[Altador Cup V]] talk of the "winner's curse" was very common. While some said that Krawk Island won't fall as hard as the others, while others said they'd fall worse. About a month before sign ups, rumors surfaced that [["Dasher" Soley]] had finally retired. And when the rumors were proven true, with Hale becoming team captain, even the Krawk Island supporters were worried. However, when Soley's replacement, [[Feldon "Dinksy" Collibridge]], injured her right leg, Krawk Island had to call Soley out of his retirement for on last season. As all of [[Neopia]] held their breath to see how Dasher's Squad would do, Krawk Island got off to a pedestrian start. Trading wins with losses, they entered the finals in 6th place, though after loosing to [[Virtupets]] they finished the season in 7th.

With "Dasher" Soley retiring after his replacement was okay, [[Feldon "Dinksy" Collibridge]] replaced him. She helped the team get back to its glory and get back to the top tier. They defeated predicted-to-win [[Kreludor]] and fought with [[Virtupets]] for their second chance to get the Cup but slightly fell apart and ended up 2nd. They are the only team that got into the Top 4 5 times.

[[Altador Cup VII]] and its infamous new format came as a threat to the team's stability, as it did with most teams. However, the team still did relatively well, claiming wins where wins were due. However, they had little to stand up to the top 4 of the year, with [[Mystery Island]] and [[Meridell]] nearly sweeping them, and [[Kreludor]] and [[Darigan Citadel]] successfully sweeping them on their first encounters. Without that added power that Krawk Island is famous for, they faltered and met with 7th place, same as [[Altador Cup V]] and thus their worst position to date.

in 2014 the Team replaced their star player [[Ealyn Hawkshanks]] for the Kreludian defender [[Coco Metrone]]. She was placed Centre Defender in Team Krawk Island. Thus the Krawks changed they're default Yooyuball formation from 2+2 to a 1+3 formation. The addition to the defence wasn't much of an upgrade for Krawk Island in [[Altador Cup IX]]. They couldn't keep up with the top eventhough they had some sweeps. And so Krawk Island sadly ended up a shocking 8th in the rankings. Their worst position ever.

'''Kiko Lake's [[Altador Cup|Yooyuball]] team''' is a strong contender, but entered 2006 with a lot to prove, due to the injury of [[Helmo Timm]], the flashy (yet erratic) play of goalkeeper [[Ditan Colb]], and their superstar defender [[Meela Kitah]] coming off the worst year of her career. Not making it past the first round, fans hoped for a surprise in 2007, similar to that of [[Roo Island]]'s team, though many believed they wouldn't make it past the Round-Robin Phase. With the addition of forward [[Moni Vyshan]], they hoped the team would be more competitive than the previous year's.

En route to AC III, they were sidelined by a rock slide. Kiko Lake entered AC IV with a drastic line up change fans thought would help them a lot. Although this new line-up beat Maraqua in the first game which led to be a confidence booster, they later fell from grace and into the final bracket being beaten by Terror Mountain, placing them 14th. And after making no changes to their line up in [[Altador Cup V|2010]] they were not expected to do much better. Though after beating expected contender [[Shenkuu]] in game one, they didn't play well after leaving them in 16th place at the end of the finals.

[[Altador Cup VI]] had the Kiko Lakers excited for some time, holding 11th place for much of the second round-robin. However, as they began to falter against stronger teams, Teams Shenkuu and [[Brightvale]] kicked them out to fourth tier. Then, going into finals, they lost against [[Mystery Island]]. However, after losing against [[Faerieland]], they finished 16th.

Under the new system of play introduced in [[Altador Cup VII]], Team Kiko Lake had a massive improvement over previous years' performance. Starting off incredibly strong, they were able to defeat primary threats such as [[Meridell]] and [[Tyrannia]] in the first round. Continuing this trend into the second round, fans were shocked when they pulled off three sweeps in a row against [[Maraqua]], [[Moltara]], and [[Faerieland]]. However, progressing into the third round, they slowed down to a point where in the fourth round, they didn't claim a single Yooyuball win. Regardless, the Kikos finished strong in 6th, a massive improvement over previous underwhelming finishes.

In [[Altador Cup VIII]] their arrogance got the better of Kiko Lake. They took their former success for granted and had a weak performance. They finished 14th.

By [[Altador Cup IX]] Kiko Lake had learned from their mistakes they made last year. They restored their fans trust by making a strong appearance. Their main strength was Yooyuball, they were even able to defeat Haunted Woods and Moltara in Yooyuball. Although their fierce play in Yooyuball wasn't enough for a top5 ranking, Kiko Lake did reach their old level by finishing 6th.

Team Haunted Woods

The '''Haunted Woods [[Altador Cup|Yooyuball]] team''' subscribes to the old saying "defense wins championships," and has built its team to shut down forwards and force mistakes which create easy scoring opportunities for them, requires plenty of discipline and determination from the other team to defeat them. The Haunted Woods won the Altador Cup of 2006.

With the retirement of veteran defender [[Chelo Binay]] in 2007, it was questioned whether the defensive unit of the team would be as good as last years. If the playing of newcomer [[Autrey Fulse]] was any indication, Haunted Woods fans with hopes of back-to-back titles wouldn't need to worry. However, the favourites going into last year's tournament were [[Altador]], [[Faerieland]], and [[Mystery Island]], so it's uncertain how the year would go. A disappointment to Haunted Woods fans was a drop from a championship to 7th, then continuing a gradual slide from grace with a 8th in [[Altador Cup III|'08]] and 10th in [[Altador Cup IV|'09]]. But in [[Altador Cup V|2010]], in hope of stopping their loosing skid, they added a new Centre Defender [["Brains" Mortigan]]. However, they in fact did worse than the previous year, finishing 12th.

The team crawled back up from the wreckage in [[Altador Cup VI]], and though they weren't quite able to reach second tier, the team stayed strong to push up one spot to 11th. The team was defeated by [[Shenkuu]] but won against [[Brightvale]].

[[Altador Cup VII]] was a rough year for the Haunted Woods, with their Yooyuball record being quite weak. In fact, in their 24 matches, only once did they win Yooyuball. However, their side-game ability was much better, which enabled them to push up the rankings yet again to 9th place.

2013 was the lucky year for Team Haunted Woods. [[Altador Cup VIII]] was probably the best Cup for Haunted Woods in 5 years. They swept many teams and as the tournament went on they kept getting even better. However, they're performances were only average, and so they finished 9th in a tie with [[Team Maraqua]].
In the next year an old veteran who helped to achieve the Cup in the first year, [[Wan Dirx]] decided to retire from Yooyuball. He made this decision for the better of the Team, and to clear his place for new young energy. Fans noted that he will always be remembered as a legendary defender. His replacement is [[Crade Talvos]], a [[Wraith]] [[Draik]].

In [[Altador Cup IX]] Haunted Woods was once again a contestant for the title thanks to the sharpness of the young talent Crade Talvos. Old times were reborn when it quickly became clear that Haunted Woods would become a serious favorite to win the Cup. They swept almost every team with sky-high numbers. The moment of truth came in the fourth round when they faced off with the two other favorites: Virtupets and Moltara. But they were no match for the Haunties. When it was all over Haunted Woods victorized and won the Altador Cup IX! And so, eight years after their first victory to become the first winner of the Altador Cup, Haunted Woods has become the very first team to win the Altador Cup twice! A both historic aswelll as ironic achievement.

In 2006, '''Faerieland's [[Altador Cup|Yooyuball]] team''' featured one of the most potent offensive attacks in the game, consisting of three forwards, making for one of the biggest stories going into the Altador Cup. Their trio of quick, undersized forwards had a tendency to wear down against larger and more physical opponents, however, and their fans were stunned when they were defeated by such forwards from Mystery Island in Round 1.

In 2007, Faerieland decided to switch back to two forwards, adding defender [[Elbin Towse]], who showed vast improvement in practice and then in the regular season the past year, moving Faerieland up to 15th place in Altador Cup II. In 2008, Ciona Broan was added to replace Elbin for her tough tackling. Unfortunately, they didn't improve, but they did remain 15th. With no changes they returned for the next year, however, the hype didn't quite help Faerieland, giving it last place in [[Altador Cup IV]]. Thus the expectations for Faerieland weren't too high in [[Altador Cup V|2010]] as they again made no roster changes. However they did improve, getting 15th place out of 18, rather than 15th out of 16th and winning eight Yooyuball games, more than ever before.

Once [[Altador Cup VI]] came around, coupled with new uniform colours, things continued to remain unchanged, despite adding Left Forward [[Elbin Kroe]] from [[Tyrannia]]. They floated around the fourth tier for nearly the entire time, then lost to [[Lost Desert]] and won against [[Kiko Lake]] to finish 15th.

Despite [[Altador Cup VII]]'s new format, it did nothing to change Faerieland's collapsing fortunes. The team was stuck in a rut for the entire time; they couldn't even keep being swept on two of the four occasions they faced [[Moltara]]. Likewise, when pit against tougher teams, they crumbled. With a win-loss-draw ratio of 6-74-6, it was no surprise that they fell to last place, tying for the position with [[Altador]].

In AC VIII, Altador made it 2nd and in AC IX, Moltara made it 3rd. So perhaps there is hope for Faerieland in the near future.

'''Darigan Citadel's Yooyuball team''' have few major weaknesses, although they have been criticized in the past for playing too easy a schedule during the regular season, and as a result are unprepared when the tournament comes. To fix this, Darigan Citadel relented and added more matches against a few of the better teams for the 2006 season. Due to this they didn't finish as high in the standings as they normally did, but it gave them the toughness to play in the games which mattered the most (or at least this is what the fans hoped). Their tactic paid off, and they managed to place 2nd in the [[Altador Cup]], ending their reputation as post-season underachievers.

Rather than rest, however, the Citadel's team made an upgrade for the ''Goalkeeper'', replacing the less-than-mobile [[Mungo Lifler]] with promising net-minder [[Reshar Collifey]] for the 2007 season. And due to the success of the previous year's tactic, Darigan again faced a string of difficult teams for their regular schedule. Darigan was from the start considered the favourite of the [[Altador Cup 2007|2007 Altador Cup]], maintaining a position at the top of the leader-board for the round robin. In the finals it faced off against [[Roo Island#Yooyuball|Roo Island]]'s team and finally won the Cup on July 9th. However, they also fell to the curse of previous winner [[Haunted Woods]] and subsequent winner Roo Island to not be able to reach the standard again, placing seventh the following year and the year after that, although showing promise initially, placing seventh again after a round one loss to [[Mystery Island]].

Coming into [[Altador Cup V]], Darigan Citadel was favourite to win the Cup, so the expectations were high. Even though they were swept by [[Brightvale]] on day one, they roared back winning 15 of their next 17 games, soaring to the top of the standings. Ending the season with a record of 23-4-7, they were in 3rd place going into the finals, getting ready to face off against [[Lost Desert]]. Though they lost, they were able to beat [[Roo Island]] in round two to end the season with the bronze.

Going into [[Altador Cup VI]], many teams were on the watch for the Darigan crew, who were looking for a second win. However, they didn't manage to hold in first tier for long and ended the round-robin in the second tier. Losing to [[Tyrannia]] in the first finals round, they defeated [[Terror Mountain]] to secure 7th place, the 3rd time they have been in that spot.

Going into [[Altador Cup VII]], with a new style of tournament, there was some question whether or not the team would return to its former glory in Altador Cup II. However, they showed the same determination and power that they had in the early days of the Altador Cup, grabbing a multitude of sweeps. They especially looked strong at the fourth round, pulling off four sweeps in a row against [[Altador]], [[Tyrannia]], [[Krawk Island]], AND [[Maraqua]]. However, having faced [[Kreludor]] four times and lost all of them (the last of which was a sweep), they were forced back. Despite this weakness, they climbed back up to 4th.

After missing the podium by an inch in the last tournament, Darigan Citadel was determined to make it to the top 3 in [[Altador Cup VIII]], though they quickly discovered the dream to be a little to good to be true. They were swept by Tyrannia and Altador and lost in the brackets from Roo Island and Krawk Island. Consequently, they ended up 5th, dropping one spot compared to last year.

In the [[Altador Cup IX]] the Citadel performed strong once again, almost creating a personal sweeping record. Their main opponents weren't the powerhouses of old tournaments, but instead newly risen forces such as Moltara, a reborn Haunted Woods, and Virtupets. This also included the title-defending Tyrannia, who didn't suffer from the alleged "Winners Curse". Reaching the top 3 was proven impossible in the very end, but they did claim the 4th place position in a tie with Tyrannia, making it their third good year in a row in which Team Darigan Citadel conquered the top 5.

Considering their team's fearsome nature, it may be hard to believe Darigan's players are avid practical jokers. "Frein's the worst one," forward Tandrak Shaye revealed. "He got his nickname, 'The Terror,' long before playing Yooyuball. Team Brightvale

'''[[Brightvale]]'s Yooyuball team''' was known for being the most crooked line up of cheating and rough players, despite being from the land of wisdom and learning. They know the rules of the game very well, and use it to their advantage by giving sharp jabs to the ribs when no one's looking and other such tricks to win. Their reputation of rough playing was once even greater than that of [[Darigan Citadel]] and the [[Haunted Woods]].

After being defeated by the Haunted Woods in Round Two of the 2006 games and finishing 8th, Brightvale claimed to have learned the error of their ways for many different reasons (not wanting to shame King Hagan, their tactics were no match for the tournament's better teams, increased popularity means more merchandise sales, etc.). Taking a cue from team captain [["Squeaky" Tressif]], they turned over a new leaf and decided to play fair. While their playing style during the regular season indicated they have cleaned up their act, they finished 12th in the 2007 season, four spots worse then the year before. There was talk of Brightvale playing dirty again in the 2008 cup, but they took the high road and signed rookie sensation goalkeeper [[Erli Quinnock]], who overall was a disappointment and the team finished dead last in the cup.

In 2009, Brightvale did not participate in the cup because [[King Hagan]] said, "It has been my personal observation that in the weeks leading up to the arrival of this grand sporting spectacle, there's been far too much banner-making and memorising of chants going on. As a result, the very foundation upon which this kingdom's reputation is based, its scholarship, has fallen prey to a serious case of neglect. Therefore, until my subjects have shown an ability to strike a harmonious balance between work and play, we shall forthwith be suspending our participation in the Altador Cup." When asked to respond to claims that the real reason behind Brightvale's departure from the Altador Cup was a string of embarrassing losses to rival kingdom [[Meridell]] (which is ruled by Hagan's brother [[King Skarl]]), His Majesty gruffly declined to comment, stating that "such accusations are not worth dignifying with a reply."

In 2010, after their one year hiatus, Brightvale decided to bring their original goalkeeper [[Orie Dinelle]] back, while sending Erli Quinnock to [[Kiko Lake]]. Expectations weren't too high for team Brightvale, however they shocked [[Neopia]] by winning 6 out of their first 10 games, 3 of which were sweeps. However their great success did not last too long, as they lost 5 straight games and then 9 of the next 11. Although they lost four straight going into the finals, they beat [[Faerieland]] and [[Mystery Island]] respectively to enter and exit the finals in 13th place.

In [[Altador Cup VI]], results continued their trend of improvement since 2008. This time, they were able to break third tier for the first time since 2007, finishing in 12th after being defeated by [[Roo Island]] and [[Haunted Woods]].

2012 saw a great change to Brightvale's lineup, in which team captain "Squeaky" Tressif moved on to Roo Island's team, while Roo Island sent [[Gordo Gunnels]] to be Brightvale's new left defender. In doing so, [[Montecito]] became the new team captain. Brightvale fell to a different pattern than usual; while they usual start strong then fade, they saw their peak in the second and third rounds. Able to hold their own against stronger teams, they continued improving with an 11th place finish, in a tie with [[Terror Mountain]].

In 2013 things didn't improve for Brightvale, the first days of the tournament started hopeful but eventually things went back to the level we're used of with Brightvale. Ending up 11th again.

At the [[Altador Cup IX]] Brightvale had a rough start but grew as the tournament continued. From place five in Round 2 they climed up to place four, three and two in the following rounds. They made some impressive victories against teams like Roo Island and Lost Desert, this resulted in the 10th place this year. That 10th place of Brightvale is their best performance since 2006.

'''Altador's [[Altador Cup|Yooyuball]] team''' boasts an airtight defence, allowing them to usually win with only one goal per game. During the 2006 season, they averaged the least amount of goals allowed per game coming into the Altador Cup, though it is questionable if they could generate enough scoring to stay in the tournament.

Having lost in Round One of the 2006 tournament, many were lead to believe Altador was out of practice after the thousand year hiatus, which prompted them to work hard during the following year's practices, exhibitions, and regular season matches, making them fighting fit and ready to prove the loss was a fluke. Team Captain [["Trapper" Remis]] cautioned the "so-called experts" that picking against them was madness, and was quoted telling the press, "After all, let's not forget who invented the game. No one's gonna stop us from taking back what's rightfully ours." But after placing 13th twice, 14th once, and then 15th and 17th three times, excuses were gone for the Altador team. However, in [[Altador Cup VI]], they finished behind only one other team in Slushie Slinger.

In [[Altador Cup V]], they traded their Right Defender [[Timu]] for [[Foltaggio]], the Left Forward of [[Team Shenkuu]].
After years of misery the Altador Team finally achieved a podium place in [[Altador Cup VIII]]. They ended up at the 2nd place, they were only unable to defeat [[Team Tyrannia]].

Very little people expected that Team Altador would keep up the pace they had in 2013, but the final results of [[Altador Cup IX]] was even worse then anyone ever thought it would be. Completely out of balance and without a single bit of resemblance with their play of the last year, Altador finished 18th. Even though they often scored low in the league, this was the first time they had ever come bottom.

'''Maraqua's [[Altador Cup|Yooyuball]] team''' could be described as "a house divided," due to the antics of their star forward. [[Elon Hughlis]] is more concerned with his personal accomplishments than actual wins and losses, making him a headache to the team. He looks down on his teammates who aren't as talented as him, and they endure him due to his tremendous ability.

After getting beaten in the first round of [[Altador Cup 2006]], fans thought Maraqua would cut its losses and get rid of Elon Hughlis. When it became apparent that Hughlis wasn't leaving, they decide to trade other foward, [[Jair Tollet]] for [[Roo Island]]'s [[Dayla]] (injured in preseason). Considering Hughlis insisted on scoring most of the team's goals, Maraqua decided having three defenders in the lineup worked best for them, adding hefty defence man [[Oten Runeu]] to their starting unit. As a result, Maraqua looked to have one of the toughest squads in Neopia to score against, later proved to be false after placing ninth and tenth in the following two cups.

However, in 09, even though Maraqua was defeated in the first match by [[Kiko Lake]], the team was able to win the second bracket, putting them in 5th place, a drastic improvement from their following years of 10th, 9th, and 10th.

In [[Altador Cup V]], the team was hyped about a lot. However, due to a tough series of matches where they had to face the top three teams; [[Lost Desert]], [[Kreludor]], and [[Darigan Citadel]] in a row, and not faring well against any of them, they dropped from a strong fifth at the end of round one, to a struggling eighth at the end of round two. However, In the Finals they shined once again, beating [[Meridell]] who were consistently placed in the top four before being slightly edged out near the end by [[Roo Island]], the defeating [[Virtupets Space Station]] to claim the same spot they claimed the year before, 5th.

In 2011's [[Altador Cup VI]] they added [[Lost Desert]]'s defender Lamelle Turow because Dorina Hals retired. With a teammate from the winning team of Altador Cup V, people thought that Maraqua would have a very good shot at winning. Though they weren't quite able to play up to par with the other top tier teams, they managed to claim 4th after losing to [[Virtupets]] and [[Kreludor]], the best they've ever done.

Under new gameplay rules introduced in [[Altador Cup VII]], Maraqua had no signs of suffering in the first round, where they had generally respectable showings despite facing tremendous threats in the bracket, such as [[Krawk Island]], [[Darigan Citadel]], and (we had thought at the time) [[Virtupets Space Station]]. However, after [[Kiko Lake]]'s sweeping of Maraqua, things seemed to fall downhill. Still, Maraqua's greatness varied; for example, they were defeated by [[Tyrannia]] one time, then swept them the next time they met. With all things considered, Maraqua fell from last year's greatness to 8th.

The demise of Team Maraqua lingered on as they became 9th in a tie in [[Altador Cup VIII]].

In the [[Altador Cup IX]] Maraqua made a great start in the first three brackets. This made the hope grow that they would finally return from the shadow that has been haunting them for years. Regretable, Maraqua became last in the final two brackets. Dropping down in the rankings to the 12th place. Their worst placing ever, surpassing the scores of 2006 and 2008.
