The '''Lost Desert Plot''' ran from August 30th through November 29th, 2005. This puzzle [[Plot]] revolved around [[Tomos]], [[Nabile]], [[Jazan]] and [[Amira|Princess Amira]], all new characters to the world of Neopia.

The Neopets Lost Desert Plot was one of the more comprehensive plots [[Neopets]] had ever released. Not only were the puzzles difficult, it is the first time Neopets implemented a plot which required people to actively participate if they wanted to progress. The large '''Temple of 1,000 Tombs''', unique to each user and requiring extensive mapping, as well as the enormously large '''Scroll Repository''' brought on a phenomenon known as '''OLDPD''' (Obsessive Lost Desert Plot Disorder).

During the beginning, most of the participants barely left their computers for fear of missing out on an important event that would possibly exclude them out of the plot; this would not be the case, however.

Extremely long waiting times, sometimes weeks long, drove Neopets’ users crazy with anticipation for new clues and/or parts to be released that would allow them to continue. This, combined with increasingly harder tasks sometimes taking 5-6 hours to complete, eventually weeded out most of those who had been there from the start.

[[The Neopets Team]] portrayed the marriage of Jazan and Nabile as the end of the plot.

On November 29, 2005, the real ending was released. This second ending, involving the return and defeat of [[Razul]], tied up several loose ends and tied in the end of the puzzle part of the plot.

==Plot participation==
To complete the tablet, users had to find parchments revealing the location of each tablet piece. To receive the third parchment, participants had to bet and feed a [[Poogle]] in [[Poogle Racing]]. To find the parchment that revealed the location of the 11th tablet piece, users had to lose a game of [[Fetch!]].

The ''furniture mover'' statistics were never released, said to be stolen. It may be a joke on [[The Neopets Team]]s part, as they say they can't continue to find the statistics, as the Sakhmet guards are looking for those who stole [[The Foreman]]s missing toenail polish, and can't bother to look into something as furniture. It's generally believed the [[TNT]] lost the data, or had no way to gauge how many were taken into the Scroll Repository.

[[King Skarl]], corrupted with greed and holding great power with the Meridellian Army, captured the orb that had kept the peace and stability in Lord Darigan's kingdom. Since they knew no war and were peaceful, the orb was taken without any resistance. After this a plague spread over his people, transforming them into dark and violent Neopets, and his kingdom was ripped from the ground and began to fly in the air. Lord Darigan became obsessed with retrieving the orb for his people, and with his lieutenant [[Galgarroth]] raised an army for what would be the First Meridell-Darigan War.

Darigan Citadel was victorious and Meridell was sacked, and the power of the orb and the manipulations of the [[The Three]] corrupted Lord Darigan, turning him into the ''Spectre of Lord Darigan''. He wished to destroy all of [[Neopia]], and would have, but for the [[Master Vex]], who opposed Darigan's madness and collaborated with his then-prisoner the [[Yellow Knight]], to convince Galgarroth to lead a revolt against him. Together with King Skarl, [[Jeran]], [[Lisha]] and her friends, they led a great uprising and over-came Darigan. He disappeared, leaving the orb behind.

During the ''Battle for Meridell'' plot, the design of Lord Darigan's head is highly inconsistent, going from the green lower jaw of the ''Champions of Meridell'' design and reverting to the whole and grey one of ''The Bat-Thing''.
