This is one of my favorite games on neopets. It’s fairly easy to play and gives a good score, without you having to spend a load of time playing it.
The point of the game is to free some petpets from some nasty petpetpets by shooting them with a green substance called “Pest-B-Gone”. You’ll get different points for shooting different kinds of petpetpets.
The red, maggot-like petpetpet gives you 2 points, the orange beetle-like one with black eyes 4 points, the orange and purple one 6, the blue beetle 8 and the blue petpetpet that looks a little like a seahorse gives you 10.
You’ll be able to shoot the 3 first petpetpets on all of your missions (there are 6 missions all together) from your 3’rd mission you’ll be able to shoot the 6-point petpetpet, and from the 5th you’re able to shoot the 10-point. And even though it would be nice to just shoot those, who gives the most points, that’s not always as convenient as it sounds. There is another factor to keep in mind. In the bottom of your screen there’s a bar called “Itch-O-Meter”, and every time you fail to shoot a petpetpet, your “Itch-O-Meter” will notice and in the end, when you get your points, every petpetpet you’ve misses gives you a 5 point minus from the bonus score. If you haven’t missed one single petpetpet, your bonus score will be 75.
In the game you’ll also meet two robot-like petpetpets, a green one and a pink one. The green one’ll fill up your “Pest-B-Gone”, and the pink one’ll kill all of the petpetpets on the screen.
The missions aren’t that different. The petpetpets normally come in combinations from 2-5 at a time (in the 1st and 2nd mission, there’ll be 3 at most, in the 3rd and 4th there can be up to 4, and in the last two you’ll sometimes get up to 5). You’ll notice that every second time there’s a row of hairs you’ll get a combination of petpetpets too. There can be up to two rows with petpetpets at a time, so if you get one of those pink petpetpets you’d want to wait until you can see both of the rows with them before shooting it, just to save some of your ammo (not that you need it on the lower levels, unless you’re bad at aiming).
The biggest difference between the missions is the number of petpetpets to shoot before going on. In the first mission, you only have to shoot 25, in number two it’s 28, then 30 in the third mission and so on. But you’re able to shoot more, if you shoot two at the same time when there’s only one left to finish the mission. Normally I’m able to do so by shooting in the space between two petpetpets that are pretty close to each other. It doesn’t give much, but you’ll be able to get some more points. Mostly this will only affect your high score because you’ll easily earn more than 1000 points without having to do anything special.
Another difference is the speed in the game. On my computer, the difference isn’t that big, but some of my friends tell me that’s because my computer sucks ^^; So it might be a little harder for people with a good computer.
The most important thing to remember when playing “Itchy Invasion” is to reload your ammo. It’s almost the only way to die. There’ll be a warning when your ammo is about half gone, but if you only shoot when it’s necessary you won’t have problems before coming to level 5 or 6, and the challenge here isn’t even that great.
Another tip to earn a little more points is to keep an eye on how many petpetpets you’ve already killed. If there’re only 2 or 3 left, you should wait and shoot those who are more worth without letting them go entirely. Then you won’t get the minus 5 points. 😉
If your computer isn’t as slow as mine, I’ll say a game takes about 10 minutes to play. Of course, if you die by running out of ammo or so, it won’t take that long. And if you only play because of the neopoints, you don’t even have to play the game until the end. The score goes 1 to 1, which means that if you get around 1300-1400 points in the game (what I normally get) you’ll have 1000 neopoints! So you’ll have earned 3000 neopoints in half an hour. That’s not that bad, I think 😉 – Angelkane
