Any guesses on who Eric Roberts character was? We didn't get his name, did we? Could he be Linderman?

Do you think The Haitian is going to take Claire to New York now? That would be cool, she could meet Nathan and he would recognize her.

I would still like to know what HRG does to the heroes when he takes them, I know he implants an isotope of some kind. Is it just a tracking mechanism? So the OWI (Organization Without Initials - I've seen it called that on other sites. It's the company they all work for) knows where they are at all times? And if so, wouldn't they have put some in Sylar so they would know how to find him?

Eric Roberts' character is named Thompson. Yep, last name only, just like HRG. :P He's not Linderman, but he's one of HRG's associates.

Oh, and I find it interesting that Lyle (Claire's brother) is adopted too.

It's possible that Sylar took out the isotope or something.

How do we know that Lyle is adopted? And have we heard of this Thompson before?

Thompson is a higher-up in HRG's organization. It's explained in the series of the online novels that introduces Hana, I believe.
Lyle being adopted I have no clue about.

Wow, they really knocked this one out of the park. Before this episode, I still hadn't considered this a "must-see" show (just last week, I missed the beginning of it) but after that, I'm taping even if there's a chance I might miss it. Wow! Matt was actually interesting for once!

Just a thought, but maybe he could take it out of himself if he can do the whole "see how things work" thing.

In one of HRG's flashbacks, he said that he and his wife were never able to father children, and so he was given Claire. I think it's safe to assume that a few years later they adopted Lyle.

Of course, that brings us to the speculation that Lyle could have powers too (though unlikely).

And if we go solely by the show and don't take into account the comic books, etc, then this is the first time we've heard of Thompson.

Of course there are many people who try and try and try and fail to have kids but eventually one gets through. It's not confirmed the Lyle is adopted but it is a good assumption. And if he is adopted chances are he has a power, I believe HRG would only take in kids that Thompson gave him.

I definately liked the flash backs in this episode, they definately pulled off the whole black and white thing. I started sympathizing with Claire's Dad, they made him a lot more human in this episode.

*What was with his gun misfiring like four times on the invisible man?

Am I any less of a man because I cried during the end of this episode?

My discussion points..... V V V V V V

That just killed me inside. The fact that we spent all this time trying to learn about him.... discussing the possibliities, figuring out his character, and JUST as they do all the flashbacks and I go "oh, now i understand him!" THEY SHOOT HIM!!! and then i thought "go deep" meant go deep with the bullet... so I burst into tears.... but then he erased his memory.... which isn't AS bad... but they might as well have shot him. He's gone... and killing him off basically in the SAME episode as the flashback episode.. thats.... thats good TV/Writing right there.... Oh man. It turns out, he was a good guy... who did have to do bad things once and a while, but they were for important reasons. It was a) for the company and b) to care for his family... which he really did care for. He LOVED his family and now its all... gone.

And so, apparently, Hiro's dad IS mixed up in this. We don't know how, but at least we understand why he was so ready to find his son, Hir.

And I WAS curious as to why Claude said in a previous episode "yes, i trained other people" but refused to explain the situation... but now we see he had good reasons!

I'm not sure who the new chick is, but it sounds like she seduces people into things or something.

God that was a good episode. Thats some good T.V. The thing is.... are we going to see more of Mr. Bennett? (with erased memory?) Or, there IS always the chance that there could be a twist, and the Hiatian didn't totally erase his memory...

oh, so here's my question. If they were just going to erase his memory, why'd they have to shoot him too? (i understand for 2 minutes, there was wet-your-pants-excitement that they might be killing him.... but i figured they shot him script-wise for another reason..

Okay, now lets start some talk about lyle. Bennett HAD no kids, until he got claire, then decided to be a dad. Is there a chance lyle wasnt adopted, just that Mr. Bennet and his wife had a kid AFTER they adopted claire? There could be speculation that he was also adopted, with powers, but i think theres the same chance that he's just a regular kid. Otherwise, he probably would have said something to Claire when she showed him hers.

I remember someone saying back in November that just because a character is dead means they're not gone for good. As we have already seen, this show relies heavily on flashbacks. Even then, I think there might be a possibility that he comes back, even with his memory wiped.

And I just realized that even without Sylar, this still was a great action-packed episode. :P

I also, have heard this rumor, but just to point a couple things out... this might not apply to THIS 'death'
-HRG did not die, but instead had his memory erased... its obvious that a wiped person could.. be around, i dont think they would have said "dead people can still show up" for somebody who didnt liton th 5erally die.
-Im pretty sure they mean.... flashbacks, memories, time transportation, or dream sequences can have a dead character return.. or perhaps even a power..... thats the interpretation of the quote.
-a character is supposed to die on the 5th. a major one.
-somebody also put another quote side by side with the first one, saying "Peter and Claire will NOT be getting back together.".... which could be something to throw us off, or saying that the death will have a major effect on claire and peters odd distant relationship in this show.

I'm assuming all of this applies to the next upcomming episode of Heroes.

Edit:
Some mini-spoilers for next episode.... discussing for upcoming episode here:
HOORAY! HRG isnt gone for good! I thought he was basicaly being killed off, but he is indeed in the next episode, with the "new hero" who works for the company trying to help hrg remember things.

Somebody DOES die in this episode.

Hiro once again sets out to fulfill his destiny of getting the sword, which of course is in Mr. Linderman's collectino. Linderman will be meeting with Nathan Petrelli right before the elections, so obviously Nathan and Hiro are once more in a simliar vicinity.

As it turns out, Nathan hasn't talked to Hiro since their last visit in that diner (hiro transported time, nathan flies in half naked or something) but now, they are together, talking. Nathan asks about Ando, and hiro said he sent ando back to japan because the mission was getting too dangerous for him. Nathan and him have a nice discussion about working alone, and the more people that tag along, the more people that can get hurt.

Oh, and the painter.... does his creepy eye thing and paints the MOST INTERESTING PICTURE YET!

I believe the reason the Haitian wiped HRG memory was as follows:

HRG was supposed to bring Claire into Thompson so they could do whatever it is they do to the heroes. HRG didn't want that so he made it look like The Haitian kidnapped Claire and shot HRG in the process. HRG told the Haitian to shoot him in a certain spot, "any higer and i'm dead" They wiped his memory so Thompson couldn't find out that HRG let Claire go.

Here's some spoilers from Ask Ausiello:

Question: Who was Eric Roberts playing on Monday's Heroes? I thought at first he might be the elusive Linderman, but then the previews for next week's episode hinted that Linderman is a man with white hair. What's the deal?— Hollie
Ausiello: The deal, as I've told you guys a million times, is that Linderman is being played by Malcolm McDowell — hence the frosty locks. Eric Roberts' character is just one of HRG's many associates.

Question: Monday's Heroes rocked! Do you have any new scoop for us?— Kelly
Ausiello: Best episode of the season — and that says a lot, considering I'm not exactly Claire's biggest cheerleader. On the scoop front, AAdict Damon wrote in to tell me that Jack Coleman, during an interview with an L.A. radio station on Monday, revealed that Episode 20 will be set five years into the future. What he didn't say is that (Spoiler alert) Hiro and Ando would be the ones making the trek.

---------------------------------------------------

I've looked up Malcom McDowell's info on IMDb, and I haven't really seen anything that he's been in, but he has done A LOT of stuff for superhero cartoons. He also looks like a good bad guy. Episode 20 isn't the March 5th one, it's a few weeks after that (presumably in a month or so if Heroes is actually going on another break like some people have said).

And that sounds about right for why they wiped his memory.

That's what I'm thinking too. I know I don't post much here, but I do read and I do watch the show religiously.

PS
What's up with people posting in white? I can't see that at all...
