I'm not sure if this is just my eyes playing tricks on me or if I just went crazy, but something seems off on my eyrie sketch:


Is the proportion off somewhere? Is the head too big? I can't pin-point it, but something seems wrong.... Help?

To be short; the hind legs are too small in proportion to the rest of the body. Thats why the head/torso looks too big. If you increased their mass, it would probably even out.

*note* I do understand there is foreshortening, but in the right hind leg, it does simply look too small. Proper shading/redirecting some of the mass would help take care of this.

Thanks a lot. I'll try to tinker with the hind legs a bit and see how it turns out. The reason they were so small to begin with is that I was looking at a photo of a lion sitting in a similar position and his legs looked really small *shrugs*

I have that problem too, because I tend to use reference pictures. Something seems oddly small on a reference picture, but it looks RIGHT. When you apply it to YOUR picture, however, it always looks WRONG. Lol, sorry for the CAPITALS, I just use those to emphasise my ANNOYANCE.

I guess it's something to do with the shading and light though. I just mess around with those now and it tends to look better if I tinker with them

I'm pretty sure your missing it's wings.

They're very faint but still there - maybe that might be adding to the weirdness too?

The neck seems a tad long to me.

The wings are faintly sketched in, I just hadn't gotten to them yet. I'm pretty sure now that the problem is in the hind legs (they look weird to me)

Anyway, I kinda abandoned this one for now. Maybe I'll finish it up later.
