I don't know what to believe, but this is what I want to believe.

People who have something to show, or proove, or weren't satisfied with their last life, or didn't get their last wishes or something of the sort will be ghosts until they do what they set out for.

And everyone else gets reincarnated.

But I'm also on the heaven side, although I don't think there would be a hell. If gods so great, why sentence everyone to eternal torture for making mistakes? Just aint right.

*hugs Twinkle* Now that is the attitude to have!!!

I have had more than my share of death in my life. My best friend when I was 16, my mom and my little sister when I was 19, my dad when I was 34, and my brother just last year.

And, the thing I have learned from it is that you have to enjoy every day you have because you just don't know when it will be your turn to go.

It is going to come to every one of us sooner or later. So, why dwell on something that is inevitable. And waste that precious time you have with such negative thoughts? Why not have as much fun as you can before it does come?

I'm really, really sorry you've had to go through all that Morningstar but I'm glad that you haven't let it get you down and enjoy life to it's fullest.

We only get one life so why waste it?

You know what, Twinkle. I didn't like it either. But it made me who I am today. A very strong person who loves life. Who isn't going to let negative thoughts ever get the better of me. And who isn't going to wait until tomorrow to tell someone that I love them or care about them.

And, actually, a lot of people go through much worse than I did. I think of the poor parents of missing children and all of those people who have family members lost in the hurricanes, earthquake, tsunami. I was lucky. I got to tell every one of those people just how important they were in my life before they died. I got closure. :)

Personally, I don't want to know what happens. I like surprises better! =3

I've been clinically dead 3 times due to surgeries (where they stop your heart and pump blood through a machine to keep your organs alive) and once due to the fact that my heart gave out on me and I was resuscitated. But. I really have no fear of death.
I catch myself wondering about it sometimes and then I just shrug it off and go on to happier thoughts. A lot of people close to me have passed away, and I've learned to accept it for the most part that they are dead, and gone.
I don't believe it's healthy to think about it a lot, so thats all i'll write.

i'm going :o at morningstar and ahoteinrun. your positive attitudes despite all you've been through are an inspiration. i know that sounds cheesy but i seriously feel more appreciative of life after reading that. thank you.

i used to believe in resurrection, as i was raised jehovah's witness. it's a fabulous idea but i just can't subscribe to it anymore.

i think most theories about what happens after death are incredible and interesting and worth believing in. except for hell. i just can't wrap my head around the idea of any god that would allow for eternal suffering for anyone. and i mean anyone. that's the only theory i'd argue with someone about.

but as for me, after much pondering, studying, and questioning, i became pretty convinced that death is just death. that we are conscious of nothing at all. and quite frankly that is, to me, the most comforting of theories. it makes death less threatening. i have a whole blather about fear of death and the invention of religion, but i think that the miscellaneous discussion section of the PPT boards is not the place for it.

Death doesn't bother me much, I mean, I know I'm going to go to Heaven to be with my Best Friend. The only thing I worry about is those I'd leave behind.

For those wondering about why God would punish people to Hell - it is because He gives us a choice of what we want to believe, and if we don't accept God, we get eternal damnation over eternal life because thats the path we took.

*hugs and affectionately bites Morningstar in return*

Emeh. I don't consider my "near death" (*eyes roll*) experiences very near death at all. Three were very controlled and necessary to repair my heart (which I do need despite all my complaints) and then the other one where it gave out on me was three weeks before a schedualed surgery.
So meh. I'm alive.
There are others who have been through more/worse and who have survived and who havn't, so I consider myself a part of the lucky.

You see, that what makes it seem the worst for me. Not being conscious of anything, everything just suddenly stopping, nothingness, but you wouldn't even realize that it is nothingness, that is scary to me :P

Thats why I am convinced there has to be something after this life, whether it is renecarnation, Heaven, Ghosts, whatever, it has to be something.

why is it scary if you aren't aware of it? like the old saying goes: what you don't know can't hurt ya. and the other one: ignorance is bliss.

Death, don't fear it. When my time comes, it comes, I just hope for a quick painless death. Until it comes I'm going to live my life to it's fullest potential. I believe in heaven, I believe in 3 kingdoms of heaven as well, being a mormon(if you don't know what a mormon is or want to know our beliefs pm me and I'll send you a link to a webbie about us)

But why would He give us the gift of reason and intelligence and the ability to choose our own way and then punish us for picking one of the myriad 'wrong' paths when there's only one 'right' one?

Ok, this is my personal belief, it doesn't matter your religion, just what kind of person you are. Because some people are forced into a religion, others aren't, just the kind of person you are decides where you go.
