It's a natural disaster that has killed people and wrecked entire cities. Of course it's going to have a lot of media coverage.

Grow up.

For a start, it's still getting coverage because people will want to know how the people of New Orleans are recovering from the hurricane. It has been one of the worlds largest natural disasters so therefore deserves a bit more news coverage than baseball.

Secondly, the Tsunami (I assume that's what you are referring to) had media coverage for months afterwards. Remember Live 8?

Personally, I'm interested in what is happening after Hurricane Katrina and what I can do to help.

Oh yes, let's make a seperate channel. If we don't watch it then the problem doesn't exist. Just stuff it all in one place, there are plenty other people to help them.

Unfortunately because the hurricane hit in the US if you live in North America you're going to get more coverage on the Hurricane then you will on the earthquakes or other such news issues.
And as it's already been said, no there should not be a seperate channel. This is a HUGE dissaster. If you don't want to watch it on TV, theres a simple thing you can do. Turn the TV off.

look at it this way, they where warned, and only like 70% of the people left, the other like.. 30% knew it was coming, but the depended on acts of nature to save them, therfore, some people dont take any pity on them because they knew it was going to happen but they didnt do anything, and dont say "well there was a traffic jam {insert number here} miles long" they could have taken a bike or ran, its one less person polluting this world, one less perosn to blame for super huricanes..

Excuse me?
Some people couldn't get out of the town. A lot of the people who were affected were those from the inner city who did not have a way of getting out. Or who did not have proper transportation. You can only bike and run so far before you get tired, and then you're stuck on a road with no supplies, and no shelter at all.

well then instead of loading up empty buses full with people, they can get water and food, drop those off, then come back after restocking and do the whole process over agina, it might take a little bit longer but hey, it keeps people from resorting to canibalism like one person did...

Cannabalism? Funny I havn't heard that report yet. And considering thats something the media would (and I don't say this lightly) eat up... i'd like to see your proof.

And i'm sorry but they need to get people out of the area. It's rife with disease at the moment and it's uninhabitable. They can't restock stores that don't exist anymore.

You'd feel a lot differently if this affected your family or friends, you had no idea where they were or even if they were alive. You'd feel differently if this affected yourself. Since you don't seem to take life seriously enough, your life is only about you and the things that interest you, don't worry. I say don't worry about it because you will learn one of these days. People who don't take life seriously enough or are selfish will have something happen to them sooner or later. That is the way life works. Sooner or later something will happen to YOU. You just wait. And you will learn.

I take pity upon these people because their entire homes and livelihoods have been destroyed. The place where they live has been wrecked and people they know and love may have died.

Have some sympathy. If not, go watch some baseball. :)

You don't think rationally when you're in a panic. This was a giant panic.

I watched the news last night, and i've been watching CNN most of the day (or at least listening to it in the background) and i've still yet to hear about cannabalism.

And as I already said, they need to get people out of there. They're giving them food and water as well, and trying to get them out, but it's not (according to the govt) as easy as we'd (well you'd, i'm not American) like to believe.

And yes, people are resorting to doing stupid things. But a human body starved of fresh water and food will not exactly be a rational person.
