Because I'm an uber nerd, are we going to keep using this thread after we've all read it? Or do a new one with a big spoiler warning on it, like the one we had when OoTP came out?

I have no idea. Maybe it needs a split though. I'd suggest a new thread for those who have read it and let those who haven't continue specualting here.

I suppose we can have another thread with a big spoiler warning in it. I mean, this thread is basically us just all wondering what's going to happen in the book, it'd be pretty pointless after we read it.

It's going to be a looong drive back home after I get my book. Especially since it's already a long drive in the first place. Almost two hours. o_o;

I'm thinking it's Snape.
Snape wasn't on the Black family tree so I'm guessing he wasn't a pureblood.
Plus it could be why he wasn't much friends with the Slytherins, and why he joined Voldemort so he got some acceptance.
Also could be why he bounced on over to be a spy for Dumbledore, because he felt fairly hypocritical.
I've had far too much time to think about this.

Snape not being on the Black Family tree doesn't mean he's not a pureblood, it just means he isn't related to Sirius. The tree doesn't contain every pureblood in existence, just the ones related to the Black family
And, as already stated, the Half Blood Prince is a new character. As stated by Rowling herself, in fact.
Sorry, but I'm just getting sick of conspiracies and bad fanfics. (and I'm sick of the conspiracies because of bad fanfics that win contests in the newspaper in fact, where the people don't even seem to have read the books. So again, sorry.)

EDIT: Sirius says the purebloods are all related.

Harry may not have seen Snape, but I doubt Harry would have missed it if he was there, though it could be a reason Sirius was so nasty to him if Snape was his distant cousin or something.
