-Everyone who's not on the BBC speaks unintelligible blather.

-English men apologize all of the time for no reason. Like Hugh Grant, only worse.

-You're so formal that "Pip, pip, cheerio!" is practically a battle cry, or you're so dirty and scoundrely that ripping a man's fingers off to stir your coffee wouldn't be given a second thought. There is no middle ground.

-If it's not a pudding, it's not food.

-You drop everything you're doing for afternoon tea. Thusly, no surgeries are scheduled between 3:30 and 5:00 PM. Even the trauma patients stop bleeding between those times.

From up here most English generalisations refer to Southerners as Northerners are a) practically Scottish anyway and b) a lot of people move between N. England and Scotland so most people know some Northerners anyway and you all seem normal


Northerners & Southerners don't like each other
Eastenders ...or alternatively, Coronation Street (no one believes in Emmerdale)
A lot talk rather loudly
A love of cricket and complaining about your (better) weather
Majority are exceedingly polite and patient but you do have yahs (yahs being based on how annoying they are rather than how rich as I'm fair like that )
When abroad many decide to "speak foreign" by talking loudly in English with a foreign accent

Ones I know non-UK people I have known had:

English people will use long words where short ones suffice
English people fry/boil everything and thus are fat
English people look down their noses at others and the whole stiff upper lip thing

Tea, crumpets, sticking u's in where they don't belong....

That's a good point. And any word that ends in "a" automatically has to have an "r" added to it, too.

India -> Indier, for example.

And everybody who has a nickname has one that ends in "S." Becks, Wills, and so on and so forth.

Oh, poor Paul gets me on his case about the British stereotypes all the time.
But the sweet kid sometimes says, "Cheerio!" just for my amusement.

That's because we say it right and everyone else doesn't

Ah then you wouldn't count to most people I know as being stereotypically English. Even the most patriotic Scotsman likes spending his holidays in the likes of Cumbria, Northumberland and N. Yorkshire Pretty places and great people...just like here
