Anything and everything goes in here... within reason.

I think it's a great Idea!

Well Im torn, although I think in a community like ours I don't mind everyone seeing my secret up there, but if its out on the main page the whole world can see it. The whole world can see it anyway, but the amount of random people just randomly browsing PPT is a lot.
Then again, no one knows that it's us, and therefor what's it really matter if they see it, and maybe they can benefit from it. Realize they arent so alone either? Plus I do believe that it's going to get to big for the thread it's on, and on a webpage it could be far more organized.
However, prehaps, theres some kind of compromise that can be derrived.
Host it on PPT main site, and don't provide a link to it from the main site, only a link from the forums.

I'd prefer it to be just on the forums. It makes me feel closer to the community somehow.

No. Secrets should be kept secret, unless with close friends. That's why they're SECRETS.

I think that with all the secrets that are coming in, it'd be nice to have it on a website somewhere, just for convenience purposes. I don't think it should be linked to from the main page though. Perhaps all the secrets could be hosted somewhere and then we could comment on the
PPT Secrets thread. That way, only our community knows the URL and only our community can respond.

Eh, I don't like the idea, as if I wanted to tell everyone my secret, I would, even if it IS anonymous, I don't like it. There's a reason for coming to the forums and posting, not because we want pity, but because some of us are comfortable with revealing such things on these forums with people we know we can relate with. Taking that and revealing it to the public eye just about decimates that, and with that, almost completely makes the whole thing pointless. It's not the same, no matter how much I look at it. That's how I see it, I don't like the idea at all.

I wish I could make something worthy of putting up on the site.
I think it would feel weird to have it up there for everyone to see. I mean, sure, everyone can see it here, but not everyone who visits PPT goes on the forums. So I don't think it's a good idea.

Nothing I say here is to be put on the main site. I am making this clear.

I know I'd feel that way if I had a secret there.
I agree with Dawn. It takes a lot of guts and courage to admit some of the secrets that I have read--and my guess is that PPTers are doing so because they feel safe here in this little community of ours. If someone wants to read the secrets, perhaps it should be a requirement that they become a member of PPT first.

I think it should stay on the forums. I assume that most people who confessed only expected their secrets to be let out here in PPT, which means they trust this place fully. PPT is already somewhat public with so many people zooming in and out. I don't know about you, but I wouldn't like my secrets to go all over the world

I agree with Kuge. He worded it far better than I would have, however.

For convenience's sake, it might be easier at a later date to put the secrets on a webpage linked from the forums (the original post is getting rather large).
The PPT community is a compassionate one, on the whole, I should think. I really don't believe the viewers would be cynical and make jokes at the expense of the people who shared their secrets. If there are any who are as insensitive as that, at least we won't know it because no one would come out and say so.
It's not the same for the cold, cruel world out there. Of course there will be people who will feel sympathy and want to give the secret-sharers a hug. It's far more likely, though, that there will be those who will be mean and make fun of these secrets. Even if the forums never get to hear of them, people may be uncomfortable knowing that those "jokes" are still out there.
Currently the majority of the viewers are forum members, people who care. (Non-members probably browse more than read everything.) But if the secrets were put up on the main site, the majority of the viewers might no longer be people who care. For me, anyway, that seems a key difference.

I think that by placing them on the website, we can still maintain the close knit community feel while openning it up to those that might need it. I highly doubt there'd be any greater chance of some hack-job joker trying to ruin it then than now. I believe this is something people will respect. Plus, I'm assuming that they're being filtered so we're not going to get a bunch of crank secrets up there. Nothing ruins the magic of reading some heartfelt secret, only to have it followed up by something like "I See Paris, I see France, I Can See your underpants. How does this fit in??? They're Victoria's Secret. BAM!"
Plus if we keep with just the forum, it has a very good chance of being overwhelmed and losing its intimacy and then dying. Even now, seperating the commentary from the secrets is getting hard. I know all the secrets are on the top post, but its good to have a sacred spot, just where those secrets can sit untarnished for a little while. Keeping it on the front page might just keep it fresh and novel.

I think you summed up pretty well my thoughts.

For people who don't like the idea of someone off forum seeing it- well, why?
Someone random on the internet seeing your ANONYMOUS (see that, anonymous? As in, it doesn't say your name on it?! And even if it did, they don't know who you are!) secret is, in essence, no different from somebody random on these forums seeing it.
