(And search for it via the search bar)

Somewhat new. It was announced on January 7th if I remember correctly.

Has anybody tried this yet? o_O I'll see if I can find some time to try it out on the other computer when I'm not so busy. I would have run it on this computer, but it doesn't seem to support this computer's operating system.

It's not supported by Windows Me so I can't try it although I wanted to.

Dad installed it on this computer.. I hate it >____<

It has massive alerts, and tries to tell me that the homepage has been changed from ninemsn.com to google.com - er? I kinda did that myself?

And it also keeps deleting Msg!Plus, because of the 'optional' sponsor program... that I haven't been installing. So each time I turn the computer on, I have to reinstall Msg Plus >.<

Gone, forever.

Yeah, that's the same problem I was running into with this computer. :)

I see...

It does look annoying based on what you've said, but I was also wondering how well it works compared to the common ones like Spybot, Lavasoft's Adaware, Spysweeper, etc.

IMO, It's great..it has a feature similar to hijackthis and it detected spyware progs that weren't found by spybot s&d or spysweeper.

I have msn plus installed on my computer and it never deleted it..you have to make sure to check always ignore after it gets detected so it excludes it in future scans. The only reason it thinks Msn plus is spyware is because when you download it and agree to the sponsorship program, it installs spyware...and that's another reason why its a good program - it gives a lot of info on the spyware it found and why it's a threat

btw, when you download it it asks if you want it to validate your windows version..just remember you dont HAVE to get it validated, you can download it without doing so..don't worry if you don't know what I"m talkin about...

another thing..Windows ME is crap..even windows 98 is better =/

Regardless of the crappiness of a particular OS, you'd think they'd build support for all recent versions of their OWN programs...just makes sense. Since every computer sold in 2001 and 2002 by the major brand names had WinME in it, there's probably half a million WindowsME machines still out there.

I've not used it. But I'm glad it has an always-ignore feature. That's actually pretty important.

I'm using it and it seems fine to me. Kinda annoying when it picks up Messenger Plus! as high threat adware though. (Because of the optional sponsor program :P)

I've hidden the icon in the system tray too, it annoyed me. I was using Spyware Blaster before, but now I have them both running, along with other software/hardware. lol. At the moment I have:

  • Spyware Blaster
  • Microsoft AntiSpyware
  • Lavasoft AdAware Personal
  • Spybot Search & Destroy
  • AVG Anti Virus/Resident Sheild
  • Zone Alarm Pro firewall
  • Windows Firewall
  • ADSL Modem/Router hardware firewall

But anyway, I've had no problems with the MS AntoSpyware program, just had to change a few settings to my liking, apart from that I find it quite a nice program. Lol. :)

Well, I finally had the time to install it on the other computer and it seems like a decent program. The scan on that comp, like the one on SyNiX's comp, did manage to pick up some random stuff that Adaware and Spybot missed. I didn't really get to experience the whole blocking feature though, as I uninstalled it right after the scan+deletion.

To be completely honest, I don't recall of any major problems with ME on this comp (besides the one shapu hinted at, where it's hard to find products/programs compatible with it). I was hoping to try it out on this one, because I tried to make this the anti-spyware stronghold. :P

Using Firefox greatly reduces amount of spyware to start with though. :P
