When I tried doing it, i started using a high-end graphic paint program (Paint Shop Pro in my case, by Photoshop or maybe specialized apps can do the same) to take screen captures of the window when i press a hotkey (or optionally on a timer). Then I trim the images (to remove the browser's additions to the window) and painstakingly assemble them to make a map. The problem lies in the background which uses paralax scrolling (moving as a slower rate than the foreground). Since it's fairly dark and very repetative, it can be ignored, however. Using other images you can then remove your ship, the score, fungus projectiles, or other miscellaneous bits for the collage, and flatten it all together.
So far, I've only worked on the first few levels. I'm working on a script-tool (inside the paint program) to help crop/save the images automatically.

I'm not that computer literate ;) I'd probably just tell people what to do on the levels that give me trouble, like the last level before the stages get red.

Well, that's practically exactly what I have done first, too. The only big problem beside the time it takes is that there are no pause button. So, you have to keep the spaceship alive somehow while changing stuff in the paint program. It's just hard to do it when there aren't many big place, in the latter levels.

If anyone is seriously interested in maping this, I though I could help.
Download Screen Capture Program [8 KB]
Warning: do not download any programs from anyone you don't know on the internet. For all you know, it could be a dangerous virus or anything else. I strongly advise you to scan the file for viruses. You're on your own when using it -- whatever happens, it is entirely your responsibility (i.e. if your computer breaks, you get frozen or anything else, it is entirely your own fault). To comfort you, to the best of my knowledge, this program will not try and hijack your account, result in you getting frozen, or cause damage to your computer.

This program captures and saves the whole of the game graphic (one game "screen") without you having to clip the resulting screenshot.

    To use this program:
    1. Place focus on the button on the form. Then, move your mouse pointer to the game window, and press space (this should click the button on the form, which will change caption).
    2. When you press SHIFT+F7 after step 1, it will capture and save the image of the game at that time, using the following filename pattern c:\kmcap-####.bmp
    3. Once you've captured the whole level, you can load those images, and join them together using an image editor to create a map.

Hopefully that helps someone.

EDIT: A little below my usual map quality, but hey, it was only 3 minutes. Mission 1 Level 2 Map (using the program above to capture): http://www.imagepilot.com/img.dll?x=200 ... level2.jpg

hey! i think i found a mistake in the walkthrough from PPT!

I'd seriously advise collecting all gems in a level first, because once you have lifted the Kreludan Metal Orb from it's motionless space, you will not be able to get the gems at all unless you drop the orb to destroy it, and then go around collecting them. This of course will mean you have to destroy your ship after you've collected them and start the level again, causing you to need to get the orb again
if you drop the orb, another orb appears on the same spot you found it!
