Though I have an extreme distrusting in Apple after a few incidents of bad times, Ipods look really appealing to me. Though I've heard the complaints about the battery life, I need something to store my music with. I only have a 34GB hard drive, and 10 of it is music. So...yeah. :P

Apparently the offers online for free Ipods are actually legitimate, surprisingly.

My only problem is my strong hatred for Apple...

ZH! try looking for other mp3 players then, Dell have just released one with 50% extra battery life than the Ipod (approx 20hours life in total) so that might be worth looking at. :)

I fail to see how replacing an Ipod is cheaper then a cd player+ a cd? o_O
Unless your talking about the music, but even so, I'd be terrified if I lost my i-pod...

people are also waaaaaay more likely to steal an ipod than a cd player. and ipods are hundreds more.

Ooh, I love iPods. :)
I've got a 40GB iPod and an iPod-Mini, I think there's like, only 5GB left on the normal iPod.
I store all my CD albums on there, and other songs.

And crap battery, not really. Everything is working fine for me, I'm happy.

As I said, I also need something to store a great deal of computer data on. I'll probably use up 1/3 of the space with my music, though. :P

exactly, so why pay that much for something most people won't use to its full potential? :/

Oh yeah, I read about that one. It looks quite nice. :) A friend of mine also told me about the Nomad Jukebox a long time ago, but I haven't looked it up yet. It's cheaper than an iPod though.

I have a creative nomad jukebox zen xtra. I deliberately stayed clear of Ipods because ive heard really bad stories about batteries and firmware and then theres the fact that they scratch really easily and then like you say theyre made by apple (always a good reason not to buy).

Anyhoo my jukebox is fab - i got a 40 gig jukebox for less than half the price of a 20 gig ipod and its so much more reliable

haha, my 256Mb Creative MuVu MX does me, I only use it on car/bus journeys so I don't need Gb's of storage, I just update it every month or so. :)

Before I got an Ipod, I had about 35 CDs that I carried with me, plus my CD player. Say a CD costs $15. Probably more like $18. 35x15=525. $525 is still about $225 more than my 20 GB Ipod just to replace all my CDs. Plus, I would have to get a new CD player. Not to mention I've got some burned CDs that have songs on them that I probably wouldn't be able to replace.

Since I have all my music backed up on to my computer now, if my Ipod were to get stolen or lost, I would just have to buy another one and download the music on to that.

I got 17 hours of music on my computer. And I always bop along to something in head, so I really wouldn't need oen. But if they can do a purple one, I'm there! (And if I could transfer the 17 hours of music on my computer, I'm definetly there!)

Well then you should be there. They don't exactly have a purple one but they do have ipod covers and you can get one in purple. And you can download those 17 hours of music in your ipod. You don't have to buy the songs if its on your computer it can go directly in it.You can also use any of your cd's and put any song you like in the ipod.
