I get to read Eats, Shoots and Leaves as one of my summer reading books this year and I'm very excited. Last year I had to read Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe, as well as the Epic of Gilgamesh. Two of the least interesting books I've ever read. Ugh. The year before that I had to read To Kill a Mockingbird and Ender's Game, and both were amazing.

I had to read To Kill a Mockingbird and The House on Mango Street, neither of which I was really interested in. I also had to read All Quiet on the Western Front. It's not a favorite, but I liked it more than the other two. Maybe because my mind was taking random game and anime characters and having them re-enact it as I was reading. The fact that a female character "played" one of them was rather funny... but I digress ^_^. I seem like the only person I know that never had to read The Giver, I read it on my own a few years ago, and liked it quite a bit. Though I'm not sure how I would have felt if I had to read it. That always takes a bit of the fun out of it.

Oh yeah, I had to read Heart of Darkness too...twice (once in high school, once in college). Let's just say I liked the movie Apocalypse Now much better. ;)

Man, Heart of Darkness is rubbish.

Crime and Punishment isn't rubbish but it is very, very tedious. Hell, the crime's committed so near the start and then he just agonises about it FOREVER.

I love thee, Eats, Shoots & Leaves. (It's the dry British humour.)

Loved:
- Animal Farm (yaaaaay governments!)
- Mythology - Edith Hamilton
- A Dolls House (a play, but still very good)
- The Great Gatsby
- Fahrenheit 411
- To Kill a Mockingbird (yeah, it rocked my freshmen year)
- Macbeth! ( <3 to Lady Macbeth and the crazy)
- Romeo and Juliet
- Hamlet (can you tell our English teacher was a bit Shakespeare crazy? Luckily all the honors kids loved it.)

HATED!!:
- The Scarlet Letter (I thought it was okay after I read it, but after analyzing it to death...I wish it would just go away.)
- Pride and Prejudice (I know that so many people love this book, but it was SO DULL. And then I had to write an 8 pg paper on it. Woe to my AP English teacher.)

Siggy under construction.

I read:

Hatchet
Brian's Winter
The River
- all by Gary Paulsen

I also read :

Night - Elie Wiesel
Palestinan and Isreali kids speak - Barbara Ellis

I liked most of them, Night (being a memoir of the Holocaust) however was good; though I didn't like it as much as did the others.

I will admit Pride and Predudice was dull, but very good. I personaly love the Scarlet Letter.

Yeah, most every Dostoevsky could be summed up in the first ten pages. But if you stopped there you would miss out on the fabulous ~*Prince Myshkin*~.

For school, in year 8 I had to read Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry. I hated it.
I was then made to read it again in year 9. I still hated it.
It is just personally not my type of book and i found it super boring....

Ok, so it's beeen quite a while since the last post on this topic but i'll add anyway :)

Romeo and Juliet hated It probably didnt help that i passed notes/talked/made random drawings while we read this 8)
Fareinheit 451 Hated It was sooo confusing to me. and boring.
A Seperate Piece okNot my favorite but not horrible either
Night Pretty good..from what I remember
Huck Finn ABSOLUTELY HATED!!! Ugh. To me it was totally utterly pointless. especially the long drawn out ending. I know it's a big piece of american literature or whatever but i found it a waste of time and paper :x
Of Mice and Men LikedThis one I actually liked. The movie was really good too.

I loved Ender's Game (I read all the sequels/companions!) and Catcher in The Rye, as well as Catch-22 and Life of Pi. My absolute favorite book is The Count of Monte Cristo, which I read in eighth grade.

I did not like To Kill a Mockingbird or King Lear.

I hated all the books I read at school, not cos they were bad, but cos the way we read them completely spoiled the whole point of reading the book >.<
