Battleground of the Obelisk [Split 11]

#1 Post by Blue »

New Split! The prior split is here

In case you are curious, this originally started as a plot... here

Shockingly, the prize shop is still open!

(and I still have 219k points to spend)

Mabye I will spend them some day. But, not today.

This week... Awakened, Sway or Brutes... Who shall it be?

Edit a while later:

I'm ready to start scratching the cards I got from the boons, so here are the results (it's going to take me 8 days to scratch them all):

I'll be recording the results individually, with an X for no prize, to ensure I keep track.... And while I was typing this, the kiosk closed for an hour. *Sigh*

Scratchcard Boon Tally Week 1:
Spent: ~27k (~45 cards -- I forgot to buy 2 once)
RtR 24: 25k, 15k x4, 10k, plushie = 95k+ plushie (3958 NP/card gross, 3358 NP/card net, 7/24 cards won)
TT 17: X x14, 25k, Ice JubJub Snowball x2, White Quiggle Plushie = 25k + plushie + snowballs (1471 NP/card gross, 871 net, 3/17 cards won)
FF 4: X x3, Snow in a Cup (1.3k), (325 NP/card gross, -275 NP/card net, 1/4 cards won)
Winnings total: 116.3k
Net: ~89.3k

Scratchcard Boon Tally Week 2:
Spent: 32.4k (54 cards)
RtR 37: 130k + 1 set of snowballs
TT 11: X x10, 15k (1364 NP/card gross, 764 NP/card net, 1/11 cards won)
FF 6: X x6 (0 NP/card gross, -600 NP/card net, 0/6 cards won)
Winnings total: 145k
Net: 112.6k

If you can buy 3-4x/day, the scratchcard boon isn't terrible -- in line with the wheel boon, but a lot less work. And that's without getting lucky with the rarer cards (which I've always felt win less often than RtR because there are more different prizes, so it's harder to match 3). The upside if you manage to snag a free level can be worth a lot, especially the more expensive training is for your battler.

Going to track the rest of my rarer cards here, just to get a better sense of the true probabilities from them. How many days before I get a level?

RtR: 61 cards, 225k + snowballs (free) + plushie (free)
TT: 30 cards, 40k + Ice JubJub Snowball x2 (free) + White Quiggle Plushie (free)
FF: 10 cards, Snow in a Cup (1.3k)

Scratchcard boon hasn't been all that helpful for me. Probably because I decided to try for the Deserted Fairground Scratchcards instead of Ice Caves. Note to self: being able to buy every 2 hours does not mean you'll be getting more chances at better cards. Ah, well. Good to know for next time!

Scratchcards did not help me at all last week. Mostly because I didn't buy any.

Who do we like for this week? Should we roll a 3-sided die*?

*the "roll the die" feature on the forum broke a long time ago. I am not currently planning to fix it.

ETA:
Where does the time go? We already have a choice to make... Awakened, Order & Seekers.

It seems that everyone is clamoring for Order, so that's the route I'm going. It's gonna be a tough win, though, so put in extra battles if you can!

Hopefully I can battle. I've not really been managing to get even my most basic dailies in most days. Frustrating.

Don't forget to get your battles in!!! If Order wins, Blue and I can finally use that double bubble boon.

Another thing to track... (Yes, I'm still planning to continue scratching cards and tracking results, but not until my health stabilizes because I don't want to mess up the results by misrecording something).

Woohoo! I went with double bubble and will be tearing through my stockpile of leveling plot potions this week. And tracking it here, of course.

I have to actually use the boon today! Haven't had time/been well enough to yet.

Edit: Checked the list here for the stats I need, ignoring books and foods because I don't think they'd get doubled... Will check after using the following:

Average price of red codestones: 32,833 NP each

29 therapeutic swamp water:
Boon: 8 reuses (27.6%)
Levels: +3 (0.081/potion)
Defense: +3 (0.081/potion)
Note: the following message resulted in +1 level and +1 defense: WOW! - Kayla's Potion makes Trevant feel great!!! Noting I started at 761 level and 1019 def to help keep track.
Boon savings: 0.65 levels x 6 reds x 32,833 NP/red = 128,050 NP

3 Energising elixir:
Boon: 1 reuses (33%)
HP: 1 (0.25/potion)
Note: starting HP 2291
Boon savings: 0.25 HP x 6 reds x 32,833 NP/red = 49,250 NP

1 Illusens forest essence:
Boon: 0 reuses
Movement: 1 (1/potion)
Note: starting movement 303
Boon savings: 0 NP

1 Not So Brilliant Sun and Moon Potion:
Boon: 1 reuses (100%)
Intelligence: 4 (2/potion)
Note: starting intelligence 470
Boon savings: 2 intelligence x 1800 NP = 3,600 NP

69 Elixir of Intellect:
Boon: 24 reuses (34.8%)
Intelligence: 184 (2/potion)
Note: starting intelligence 474 -> 516 (+42), 56 -> 198 (+142)
Boon savings: 48 intelligence x 1800 NP = 86,400 NP

1 Illusen Day Elixir:
Boon: 0 reuses
Intelligence: 2 (2/potion)
Boon savings: 0 NP

Boon Summary:
34 40 refreshes/104 123 potions = 32.5% overall
Total NP savings: 267,300 358,280 NP (If I needed defense, it would have been 485k)
(Edits include the doctor bags, which were very lucrative... And will save me a ton of time when I need a cure and can't wait for the healing springs)

That's 70% better than more than double the bank boon, despite having so few of the level and HP potions (and the leveling potions being so low yield). I know I probably could have made a lot more by selling the potions, but it was fun, and way less time than training (especially since the lab has been taking away 2 levels 6/7 days for the past 3 weeks).

Hopefully Blue has even greater savings to report.

Okay, checking to make sure there are no other stat -increasing items that are affected by the boon...

Oh, wow! It also works on MPs (not sure about transmog potions) and healing potions, in addition to Meridell and BV potions. And at least doctors bags and bloat B gone potions, maybe other medical cures as well. So I'm going to open up the rest of the doctor bags I have stocked from the plot (I used some when I needed a cure):

19 Doctors bag:
Boon: 6 reuses
NP Value of Cures: 379,085 NP (15,163.4 NP/bag)
Boon savings: 90,980 NP

And I guess I'll look at my MPs and pets and see if there's anyone I want to change up.

Edit: Using a pirate kougra MP on my kougra because it's 5% the cost of my last FFQ, and transforming my last pet to a koi because why not have another aquatic pet? No boon effect, but can't really complain. I got good value from the boon.

My boon summary... Definitely worthwhile. Maybe not cheaper than 3 red codestones overall, but certainly faster and more fun.
Potions and results
ItemStatTotal Uses*Gain/LossBoon ExtrasBoon%Average Gain Each
Bullseye PotionStrength5-100.0%-0.20
Strength SerumStrength2740829.6%1.48
Bubbling FungusStrength23150.0%1.50
Therapeutic Swamp WaterDefense10000.0%0.00
Twisted Potion of StrengthStrength70662028.6%0.94
Jar of Forest EarthStrength3000.0%0.00
*Total Uses includes the refilled potions from the boon

Of note: Some potions refilled multiple times, up to 4 each.

Refills for a single bottle:
1x = 18
2x = 3
3x = 2
4x = 1

I will assume it was the same bottle being refilled over and over vs. a "random" bottle begin grabbed from inventory each time.
