For Neopets ONLY discussion.

And it was torture. The newbie boards...*shudders*...well, let's just say I'm NEVER making that mistake again. It was all "I'm JOE JONAS" and "How do you do your makeup?". What are some of your best and worst experiences on the boards?

I don't really go to the neoboards much. When I do I only visit the BD, Help, and Quest boards to ask for help or give help to others

I spend almost all of my time on the Neoboards on the BD Chat; it's actually a great place for intelligent discussion.

I went to the NeoBoards once. The few places I looked were non-sensical or not redeeming in any way. Once I found PPT, I lurked for quite a while, finally joined and have currently "forgotten how to leave". Much better here.
Based on Souxper's response, maybe I'll have another look...
EDIT: Ok, not quite as bad as I remembered, but like stephanie<3 posted, the newbie board is painful. There was a very inappropriate (for Neopets) discussion in there called "Why do girls have to ya know..." I was about to report it, but somebody else must have sent one already, because the topic now no longer exists. Good for TNT.

Like anything really, you need to pick and choose what is good for you.
Neoboards are not bad overall for forums, but of course you will always get the users who want to push the boundaries.
I spend quite a bit of time on the KQ board, Games and when there is a plot, I am on the plot board. If you know not to get involved in the drama and only post what is relevant, then there is nothing wrong with spending time on them.

I spend a lot of time on the Guild Chat board. I don't know why, when I already have a guild. When I was a newbie, I used to chat on the Newbie boards, It was okay, but the topics were weird and random
And there were things like
Come if you play Hermione and about 100 people went, and pretended to be Emma Watson. Then, they had a massive feud, and said stuff like
I'm Emma. My friend Stephanie died. HAHA. I proved that I am Emma. Overall though, It's not that bad apart from the occasional spam/abbreviated swearing.

So I went to the NeoBoards today...
That was your first mistake.
I go there solely to advertise on the trading/auctions board. The BD board I'll post on every so often, but only if I'm selling BD equipment.

I miss the FC in its prime. And many people will say 'what prime?' But years ago, when I was like, 14? It was my life. My friends were so great and I had the best times. Oh to be young again.
I think you have to be committed to the boards to be accepted there. I just don't have time, but sometimes I wish I still was popular there. Not enough time, not enough patience though.

I go to the Neoboards occasionally, but only the help boards. I look for topics that have no replies and try to send a Neomail response to the person who needs help. That way, I feel like I'm being helpful, but I'm not risking anything by actually posting on the Neoboards. If I'm feeling super lazy, I'll post on the Neoboards in the help section, but that's probably like once or twice a year, if that.

I only go if I have a specific question to ask, because they're so fast to reply. I also liked to go to my "official" score posting board during the Altador Cup (I just liked being a part of a group effort
). But I'll never just sit and chat. I use my guild board for that, it's pretty active and people are intelligent for the most part. And the mods (or whatever they're called, I'm new to the whole guild thing) are pretty strict and delete chatspeak posts and posts that are only one line long. So it's a nice environment for discussion when PPT is a little slow and the Neoboards are insane (...always).

Touche. I think I've learned my lesson now, but I'll occasionally go there because they make good screenies. It's fun laughing at other people's expense.

They're one of my favorite places to visit, next to the Gaia forums.
You'd better tell that was sarcasm there

Ahhahahaahahah! That was a good one.
I think the worst neoboard experience I ever had was when someone posted a topic that was bound for the report button. A girl was telling everyone that a certain deity wanted them to kill themselves. I was fairly new and had no neoboard experience at the time so I posted a message contradicting her. But I got a warning. That's when I learned not to post on anything that looks like an argument.
Another time I saw what was obviously an adult man trying to get children to talk about feet. *shudder*

I started a Neoboard today re: Daily Dare 2008 prizes -- this time in the games forum... I want to start practicing for the next DD, but I'm not sure I'll participate unless I get a prize for all my effort (it was well over a hundred hours, I'm sure) last year. This time, the only other posters are fellow MegaSuperbers (sympathetic, but equally impotent). I tried a board in the help forum a few months ago, and most of the replies were "suck it up" or "boohoo for you." Some help they were...
I'm really just hoping to get TNT's attention somehow with the board... maybe a monitor will see it and relay the message or something, and so I'm willing to risk a "teh" or a "definately" (okay, I had trouble just typing that hideous misspelling) or even "1337."
P.S. If anyone would like to contribute to the topic and help bring attention to this issue, they can do so
here. Thanks!

I've not been on the neoboards for yeeeeears. PPT's way more interesting and I've built more friendships here than I think I ever could on the neoboards.
