Okay....I still haven't managed to install a font successfully.

Heres a step-by step of what I'm doing and what's happening (using silkscreen as an example)

1. Download silkscreen

2. Go to zipped file and extract it.

2. Go to Control Panel and open the Fonts thingie.

4. Go to 'Install New Font'

5. Find Silkscreen and click 'Install'

6. Get a message saying: "The SLKSCR.TTF file is currently being used and cannot be replaced. Wait until Windows is finished using the file, and then try again.

I have absolutely no idea why it's doing that, but please help meee!

I usually just zip them to some folder, close all winzip programs etc. and then just drag the font file into the folder where all the fonts are (C:\WINDOWS\Fonts) and it installs it automatically.

That's odd. Try restarting and installing it again. If it still messes up, reboot and install it in Safe Mode (Press F8 while it's booting up).

To Scholastic and Silja, I've tried that as well and gotten the same result, as well as trying to unzip them directly to the fonts folder. I'll try yours, Marissa. Hope it works..

EDIT: Tried yours, Marissa. Same result.

I'm using XP and this is what I do.

Download the font. Unzip it. Then you know how the file opens after you unzip it? Take the font and move it to C > Windows > Fonts or wherever it is. Then it should just automatically install. That's what I do, atleast.

That's whatI originally tried, fzun...I'm pretty sure it did the same thing, but I'll try again.

EDIT: Yep. Same ol' message.

I'm wondering..is there any way to make it anything other than a TTF? That may be the problem.

Fonts must be in *.ttf or *.otf format or else Windows won't recognize them. And changing a *.ttf to *.otf will most likely just damage the file.
Perhaps you should try downloading a font managing program. I personally use Extensis Suitcase X, but it's probably a little overpriced if you're just going to use it for one font. I've also seen Fonthit Font Tools, which looks like it should suit your needs.
