Hey, my name is Mikey. I HIGHLY doubt anyone remembers me, but I was a moderator at Neo Anon. (which, I think closed down, im not sure where it went)

Anyways, I have PSP 9. I was wondering how you make those boxes for text where you can still see the image. Like this image here: http://www.pinkpt.com/neopets-layouts/i ... /blog1.gif

Could anyone tell me how to do that?

I'm not sure on the specifics of it, being a Paint user myself, butI think it involves the tweaking of certain opaity settings. Other people are a lot more qualified to tell you how to do it though.

<.< Opacity. Basically you can make stuff more transparent, with some of the more advanced programs (like PSP) But, like I said, that's as far as I can help. Sorry. :(

Forgive me if there are any inaccuracies here; I'm a Photoshop user and I'm only basing this off this screenshot of PSP 9 on Google.

Set your first layer to whatever image you want. Set another layer on top of it, this should be a solid colour. See those sliders on the right side of the screenie, with 100, 86, 84, and 76 respectively? Well, for your first layer, which should be your bottom image, leave it at 100, but for the solid colour layer, set it to something less, like 40 or 50. Adjust as you please.

Create a new layer over the image. Then make a solid box of whatever color you want the box to be. Then go to layer properties, and set the layer's opaqueness to 50 or something.

An alternative for tinting is to select the region you want to change, then go to bucket fill, chose the color you want, set the opacity low, and then fill that region. To get you standard dimmed tinting, use white...

An example of this:

Oh, and most important, I was using GIMP when doing this, I've never had access to those overpriced (in my opinion ;) ) PSP versions.
