Friday, August 13 2004 - A Japanese paper, Kabushiki Shimbun, has reported that the Nintendo DS storage medium will cost roughly 30% to 70% less than the current GBA cartridges. This is good news for both the developers and the consumers. Nintendo themselves has stated that they would be cheaper, but this provides us with a better estimate. A cheaper storage medium also helps boost third party support. Pricing on the software itself has yet to be announced, but stick with Nintelligent to find out when we do.

I found that here, http://www.nintelligent.net/news2058.php
COOL. I thought that 50 bucks for a portable game was a little much. *Imagines a $9 DS game even though I know that is impossible*
Well, that could still means possible although unlikely $20 games, I am guessing 35 bucks or less for the games.

I think this'll be great for sales and sponsership as it'll be cheaper on parents pockets, if they an actually get a wide range of good games to go with it...

Thats awesome.

I still dont know who would buy $40 or so for those crappy Nokia N-Gage "system" games (not really a system, more of a cell phone with those little free games :P )

The games are really expensive, but the phone on its own is fantastic! It's an MP3 player, and I have a 128mb memory card for it. Now, if all the songs were 5mb, then i can still get 25 games on to it!

If the games are cheaper than what they are just now, then I'll be please. It's £35 for a game over here!

They'll probably stay $50.

If someone wants the game they'll have to buy it. Even if manufacturing it is cheaper, the price will stay the same.

If 50 is the real price, I'd rather invest in the DS than a PS2. It's more portable, reliable, and goes up to 16 people.

If I had to guess on a DS launch title, I would say Super Smash Bros. DS would be in the works. One screen would pan out on the whole battlefield, and the second screen could show you fighting up close.

I doubt they will end up costing $50. It would be very unwise for Nintendo to close the gap between Console game prices and Portable game prices. The Gameboy (including all models) is known for having cheaper, more portable games, and if they try to make the cost of these games closer to console games, then they will lose a lot of business. Although it seems some people have, a lot of people may not accept such a move on Nintendo's part, unless of course, the PS3 and XBOX2 games cost around $70 which would keep the cost margin difference the same as it has been the last 5 years. Games for portable systems have always (I believe, just from what I remember) been cheaper than games for console systems that have come about near the same time. I hope Nintendo isn't foolish enough to make a mistake like this one, I don't think they can handle very many more.

The only bad part is finding 1-16 people with DS' and the same game you do.

by the way there are 72 launch titles confirmed.
(only three of which are inhouse)
ofcourse most of those are along the lines of "new final fantasy RPG exclusive" (kid you not, youd of figured by now we. dont. care. woulntchya?)
and, no, i cannot be bothered to write out the list, find it for yourselves.

As long as Snowboard Kids, Square Enix, and Advance Wars are on board, I'm definitely getting this system. And, finding 16 other people( at least 6) with the same game isn't as hard as you might think.

Well, actually, most other developers are talking about multiplayer with only one cart. It can be done on the GBA for quite a few games (like MK)
