Nah... I don't like them. I guess I don't find any fun in killing animated animals.

Uh, I dunno if you have a misconceptions of FPSs, or have only encountered the unrelentingly crap "hunting" games that occasionally come out.

Actual First person shooters are pretty much the forefront of gaming technology, Doom 3, half life 2 and unreal 3 all demonstrating this

Yup Skullsplitter's right even though I don't care for them at all.

I used to play them. I got bored of them after I felt that jumping around fragging everyone was getting too repetitive.

I played the first person shooter GoldenEye for the N64 a few years ago with 2 friends and my brother. It was rather amusing because we were bored, had nothing else better to do, and it was good for a few laughs when someone got killed. The thing I remember most clearly from the game is the blood dripping on the screen when your character dies...

But shooting games get sorta boring after a while.

They aren't my favorites but I play the Bond games with my friends, since they make good multiplayer games.

I have never gotten the chance to play a shooting game at home. I've always gone to the arcade to play them. I think my two favorites are Area 51 and House of the Dead (I think that's the title). The one hunting game I've tried isn't too bad. I can never shoot that darn animals though. I see the shot but it never gets to the animal lol

Goldeneye was classic. You can't help but to laugh at the death animation along with the music they play.

ok, im here to resolve any FPS querries (spl*?).

Modern Shooters - If you are in to the everyday modern shooter, you might want to consider the most popular FPS of all time, Counter Strike, or if you have a 1337-box, you definetly need to invest in the game Far Cry, great graphics, and plays beautifly. You could also try America's Army, its free, and is one of the most realistic games on the market.

Futuristic - Once again, i have to suggest another HL mod, NAtural Selection. What's not fun about being a wall-climbing alien and sneakin up on unsuspecting marines, and chompin the crap out of them? nothing, thats what. You could also check out the newest installment in the UT series, UT2k4. Addes some new stuff to the series, and is greatly detailed and the gameplay itself is easy to adjust to, and even the newest to the FPS genre could learn. Finally, since so many people love it, Half Life.

Historic - WEll, this is a fast growing market, since people seem to love the thrill of storming Normandy or Bombing the Pacific Isles. OF course there's always the most famous of this area, Battlefeild 1942, a very good game, and one of my favorites in the genre. An as if HL-mods didnt rule the FPS market enough, there's Day of Defeat. It has the same feel as BF, but is more like HL and CS. And finally, there's the fast growing, Call of Duty, which is one of the most realistic WW2 games, but i find it to be a bit on the boring side.

Well, i think i covered all the good ones ive played and know.

EDIT - I forgot to mention i play CS, so if anyone wants to play sometime, just PM me or email me.

Well considering the time it was made, it is still considered the greatest FPS game of all time, the N64 made many a great game in its time, and i kind of regret selling mine :/ but i got a Gcube, which i must add im not the impressed with, the graphics are better, but i thought the N64 had more to offer.

Another great FPS on the N64 was Perfect Dark. The so called Sequel to GoldenEye, and it did deserver that title, probably the seond best console FPS ever.

For the most part, I only play FPSs when I have 3 or 4 friends over and with that many people they are loads of fun. I could never get into them by myself or one other person. My friends and I mostly play Timesplitters (possibly the cleanest of the FPSs) and the Bond games. If I had a faster internet connection and possibly a better computer, I would probably play CS, but the last time I tried I encountered possibly the worst case of lag I'd ever seen.
