why is the sign-ups down and is there still a way to play the game without the sign up???

you have to share with someone else's account. you should've signed up earlier b4 they shut off the sign-ups. my account is full right now and i'm using my chars as a mule so you can't use mine.

They went into closed beta, so there is no way to sign up right now. Also, you can't play without signing up. They opened signups for a week, about two weeks ago, because of the many requests. Looks like you just missed it . You'll have to wait until they open signups again, and I think that might take some more months.
I don't have an account to spare, but maybe you can try to find a maplestory forum and ask for a spare there. if you're lucky you might find someone who will give you one Good luck
