You automatically get an encore if you're playing in Medium difficult and above and get past the required songs. (there aren't encores in Easy mode, for some reason).

They probably don't do it in easy because they want you to play Medium and give a goal to the game. And probably because they need an incentive to play Medium, Hard and Expert so people can't get everything they want in a short time. And with all of those new guitars, characters and songs, it really increases the time it takes to "win" the game.

But, I don't work for RedOctane or Harmonix so I really would have no idea.

Well, I think you can only get just enough cash in the game to get everything in the game, so I don't think there's a way to unlock everything too easily (though if they allowed it on Easy, they would have had to added more stuff, of course).

Also, FINALLY beat Freya, and also beat the block of songs after that block. Um... now I have to work on Psychobilly Freakout, Carry Me Home, Madhouse, and Lamb of God's song (I never remember it... then again, I don't like it. D:)

I tried all of them and failed pretty miserably. x)

Huzzah! *Update*

Beat the game on Expert!

I also have 5 stars on hard on all but 4 songs.

I'm working on improving my scores on some of the expert songs, and have 5 stars on almost half of them now.

In order to beat Hanger 18 & Freebird I had to engage hyper mode. For anyone not familiar with it, it's a code you can enter which ups the rate of play-- it's the same as changing the rate on DDR to a faster mode for more advanced players- notes fly at you at hyper speed, so you're playing the exact same song but because the notes aren't so bunched up together visually, it makes it a bit more manageable if you have quick enough reflexes to cope with the faster rate. The biggest advantage I've noticed with it is that it makes hammer ons soooo much easier to do because they're visually manageable now in the 64th and 128th notes.

Hyper mode is recognized in the Guitar Hero community as an acceptable means of play- all the best players on score hero use it.

Agh, I HATE wireless. -_- I have a wireless guitar, and when I got to about 80% on Hangar 18 and still in the green (got to a very easy part) and it started flickering on me and went out. Now, I would understand if the batteries were dead, but they weren't. >_>; Hopefully I can get back there again when I use my friend's wired guitar tomorrow...

I dislike Hyper Mode, and can't believe it's an acceptable mode (though it is, but I guess other than video, there's no way to see if someone has used it on Score Hero). It makes gameplay considerably easier, regardless of how fast you can move your fingers...

There comes a point when the skill of your fingers and brain exceeds the sheer capacity of your visual cortex.. I'm sorry, but try Jordan on expert and tell me you can differentiate the mess that gets thrown at you.

There's a clear rate increase between easy+medium and hard+expert- because if they threw everything at you on expert at the chart rate you get on easy, the game would be impossible. Hyper is just the next step-- I expect that by Guitar Hero 3, hyper will either be an automatic integration for expert mode, or that there will be different chart rates available for selection before you play a song... Say slow (easy + medium now) fast (hard and expert now), hyper (same as hyper now) and maybe even one more, like extreme, which would be even faster than hyper.

Good luck with Hanger 18 man.. I'll assume you're talking about expert mode-- it took me forever to beat it, I'd usually die at 84%, occassionaly I'd make it to 90%.. With hyper it becomes much more manageable.

I tried it out in Circuit City.
Is it I or II that has Freebird on it? I believe it was II, but I'm not sure.

GHII has Freebird.

I assume that the gameplay and scoring is different for the new release, but I am not sure. So the scores on any site that ranks people (like Scorehero for example) will have to change, along with the cutoffs for 4 and 5 stars. Just like for people who try and activate their Star Power at certain moments will have to adjust their paths if the scoring or note charts change. It will be a hard change and transition, but it will be worth it I'm sure.

You guys who are lucky enough to have a 360 and the new game, nice job. This looks like a great game, and I might just buy the 360 for the one game (although that would be a waste).

Nice job RedOctane

(By the way, did any of you guys notice the new advertising campaign on TV lately? It was for GHII 360. I'll see if I can get a linkie)

Begginer- Cleard and 5starr'd. Yay! (3 songs have 5 golden...yay!)
Medium- Cleared without MAJOR problems....Yay!
Hard- Woman kills me <_< I REALLY need to work on my Hammer Ons and Pull offs. And Orange notes. Any good tracks for that?

Haha... I went to my dad's last night, came home and my PS2 could barely ready my Memory card and when it did it said it was empty and there was only 8 kb on it (which is of course useless).

So yeah... I had 3 songs left to do on Expert (Six, Freebird, and Jordan, though I was attempting to finish Six before I left that day), now I have to purchase a new memory card (unless I find that it's my PS2, though I doubt it), and start from scratch again. :P

Going through Easy mode was sooooo painful. -_-

I know. It was the worst of them all. Sorry about that. :(

Sun May 06, 2007 4:26 am

Well, I my friend help me find my OLD OLD memory card (that was last used in August 2005), and I just started over again. Well, at least I don't have to buy another memory card. :P
