I say the chao, too. They're basically the only reason I bought Sonic Adventure 2 Battle.
I have one named Chrome that's won all the karate rounds (beginner, intermediate, expert and super) and all the races (challenge, dark, hero, jewel, party, beginner). I love her...
My Chao named Ozzy was like, God of Chao. Before he reincarnated, his stats were level 99 for Swimming, Flying, and Running, level 80-something for Power, and level 30-something for stamina. He won EVERYTHING. All the races (Beginner, Jewel, Challenge, Hero, and Dark). All the Chao Karate rounds (Beginner, Standard, Expert, Super). And he's a Grand Master in Chao Karate. Won over 300 times, he did. Then he reincarnated and his stats went kaboom. x_X
When he reincarnates again (which'll be like in an hour), he's gonna be a Dark Chaos Chao.
w00t w00t! Lets just hope he doesn't die like my first Chao did. X_O

Chocobos remind me of my bunnies. 
I was helping to catch chocobos in FFX-2 (not my game). I had to slaughter the poor babies sometimes. It was too cruel, too, too cruel. I covered my eyes for that part.

Aww man. i loove chocobos! Haha. Although FFX-2 didn't allow you to do much with them... :/ *sniff*

But he's a hero....the game is partly named after him.
He can attack, and the game wouldn't be able to happen without him (or her...never figured that out). Sounds like a hero to me.

Just because he's not the MAIN hero, it doesn't mean he's not a hero.
I think by saying they're not a hero or villian means that they don't fight for you (well, you don't get to control them anyway), and they don't fight against you.

The Final Fantasy Chocobos. Duh. I mean, in FFVII, you can get on them and race them. What could be better?
