Irony...don't you think?

I don't know about you, but I get my drinking water from a tap.

If you don't live somewhere that you can get water from a tap from, then you shouldn't be able to afford bottled water anyway.

Just a thought. One of many.

Do you think that bottle water is a viable product? Are we daft thinking that bottled water is ostensibly healthier than the stuff in the taps?

I'm all for everyone having healthy drinking water, but shouldn't that be a right?

I now see the point in this topic... :P

Anyway, that is a bit odd. Many people in areas without tap water probably get bottled water through donations though, so you have to consider that. Also, when going to another country it's often a good idea to drink bottled water, because there's stuff in the local water that might make you ill.

Well, concidering I do drink out tap water, I'm really not all that fond of it, on certian days you can really taste the clorine they use to clean it...I'd much rather have bottled water...even if I'm Naive in doing so lol

We had hard or soft drinking water in the UK, but I'm not sure which we get at home or what the difference is. Something to do with the flouride levels or te pipes that bring it to us.

Either way, I dont think the water company is poisoning us, so do we really need bottled water in a developed nation?

well, evian is pure spring water.
tap water has 1/3 the dose of prozac -amongst other things- per glass.
THAT is why people buy evian, its far safer and isnt contributing to the slow death of the human race.

...and where precisely did you get this little nugget of information?

You don't state that all water from taps contains it. Or are you being specific to your area without telling us? Sweeping generalisations are bad for morale y'know. Particularly when not based in fact. (which I dont know if your comment is or not)

Hard has flouride, I think. Don't take my word for it, I'm guessing with chem knowledge.

Some people just perfer bottled water over tap, and if you're out in public it's much easier to drink bottled water (unless you've got a really long hose connected to your kitchen sick).

Personally, I use a Brita filter. It's tap water, but much of the minerals and such that's in it is filtered out.

EDIT: Come to think of it, this should probably go into the Debate group too. Again, let me know when you get your membership, Ashes.

The tap water in my area is the cleanest in the U.K. so I'm pretty happy.

Just to throw something in, does anyone remember the bottling tap water incident with Cola?

why do you think im always in such bad moods (well, i guess you wouldnt know really)
i read far too many scientific journals to be good for morale.
i should note that i forgoed those little nuggetetical words "on average"
but no, its been common knowlege for decades, the cause of some pretty nasty things in certain areas.
dont worry too much, its not going to kill you (might make you a bit skippy)

So, I'm surmising that what you actually meant was that some areas may have prozac in it? What areas are these? Do the local authorities know about it?

I know what prozac is and in the quantities you're talking about, I can imagine how little damage it would do to you, in the unlikely event that it came out of your taps. I'd be more worried bout the lead/copper elements that came throught the taps from the pipes themeselves. (again, depending where you live, of course)

What about going on a hike and such? You can buy bottled water from the grocery store, and it's already cold. If you're away from home, it's often quite convenient. There is definitely a need for it, though having it at home seems pointless unless the local tap water is bad-tasting or unsafe.

Poland Springs is good.
Evian and Dasani are gross.
Most store brands are pretty gross.
In general, I dislike most Canadian bottled water, though I don't know why.

really? let me go get a glass right now...could use some prozac... :D

this topic reminds me of that old saying...water, water everywhere and not a drop to drink.

I drink tap water at home because it doesn't taste funny and to be honest I can't really tell much difference between it and bottled water. When I visit London though I have to drink bottled water, I find the water there awful!

When I was at school I'm sure we were told that all tap water has been drunk 7 times before.... :o

I agree, tap water in London tastes gross to me.

Did you know that in Hawaii, the tap water is not cold? I think that's weird. I'm sure it's like that in other places too, but around here it's nice and cool (well unless you use the hot water, of course!)
