Thu Jul 07, 2005 10:46 am

No confirmation yet on the cause (and think i was gonna go into London to skateboard today)

So far parts of London are pretty much off limits:

It's all over most of the terrestrial UK tv channels too

This was at kings cross they are saying. I hope it is over. I hope nothing biological was used.

They're pretty sure it's Al Qaida.

I'll leave my racism aside in this post, and hope that everyone turns out fine!

There are also reports that they hit a double decker bus and some other targets.

This is horrible. Thankfully, there weren't too many casualties, but this was meant to be a sign from the terrorists. It can't just be a coincidence that these attacks co-incided with the G8.

Oh and, CNN is completely lagged out. News spreads fast. Hopefully they'll catch the people that did this.

Ooooh so that's what Tony Blair is talking about live on the telly at the moment, too bad really.

Then again I always have a hard time feeling that much compassions for things like these, people die of more horrible things than we can ever imagine every second all around the world and suddenly it's all about one single thing (take the terrorist attack in NY for example).

Aye, people die constantly, but the thing that's worst is the intention.

I mean, accidents happen, and whilst people are sad for it, the blame really can't fall that highly upon anyone. When murder happens though, it's especially horrible, if only for the intention.

Then there's terrorism. Somebody at that moment had placed those bombs there, not caring WHO they kill, but just wanting to kill some people to convey a message. Mindless killing. Innocents dying for no reason.

Whilst I can't as much compassion as those that live in London, I still fell for them.

Mm... I think that the idea of people dying from famine and disease tends to be less disturbing to people, because it's a more 'natural' occurence (though still horrible and unjustified, etc).

The idea of people maliciously harming other people in places where they should feel safe is scarier, I think, since it's something more uncontrollable and less understandable. I find it all a bit scary ... :-S

Edit: Ah, Twisted Sanity beat me to the point...

I fear how this will change social attitudes in the london, after the attack in New York, there were incidents of muslims being singled because of their race and religion. Now that this happened... well...

I just really hope it doesn't affect the G8 summit

Still much of the hunger and diseases today aren't that natural anymore, considering that people out there that can help just won't (pretty much summarized in the G8 campaign, I believe).

Anyway, the thing that upsets me most is that within my own country people get more upset about things like these than for example a school bus that crashes the same day within Finland. Of course I am truly sorry for the families that have been affected by this event, but in the end it won't bother me further than that.

Al Qaida has admitted to it.

My brother is working down there at the moment, and he's been told not to leave the hotel he's staying in

We're lucky there wasn't biological bombs in there.
