Broken bones

Tue Jul 05, 2005 11:37 pm

Who here has broken a bone, and if you have, what bone was it?

Me, I've cracked my tailbone on a cement block, and cracked my arm off a slide. Never broke anything until April, when I broke my back, which is a very, very, very nasty place to break.

Ouch. :( I can only imagine how much that must have hurt.

Luckily I've never broken anything. Although just because I'm saying this watch me break something tomorrow. :P

I voted "No", but as soon as I did, I realized I probably should've chosen the third option. I dunno.

When I was 11, I was at a slumber party, and I and the other girls were on the girl throwing the party's mother's bed. The bed was very high up, and the floor below was hardwood. I got wacked with a pillow and fell off the bed, landing hard on my right elbow.
It hurt BADLY. I started crying, but quickly started laughing (dunno why =P). I didn't go to a doctor or anything, but it hurt for weeks, longer than a normal bump would've, so maybe I got a small fracture.

I don't *think* I've broken anything. A brain, maybe, from being dropped on the head too many times, but that doesn't really count as a bone.

I have broken several bones in my lifetime. First, my arm (upper arm above the muscle) when riding bareback on a horse and he threw me after getting spooked. It didn't hurt so bad until my sister, seeing that I had fallen, grabbed that arm to pick me up.

Then, both bones in my lower left leg going UP while downhill skiing. Yes, up. I was on a high school function at a nearby ski resort and first time skiing. I was going up the mountain using a tow rope. The resort hadn't cleared the ruts very well (if at all). When I fell to avoid someone ahead of me who had also fallen, my left leg did not get out of the rut (which was at least several inches deep). Suffice it to say, my leg "broked." It was extemely painful because the jerks at the ski resort called my parents but did not say that I had broken my leg (clearly obvious because when they rescued me my heel was pointing up and my toes were pointing down). So, I spent 4 hours in excruciating agony on a bus ride home. I don't remember the next few days very well. I do know that I went to a hospital and was given drugs for the pain but cried and cried because it hurt so bad. I was very surprised that my dad did not sue the ski resort for negligence. But, that was a while back--before people knew better.

I tried downhill skiing after that, but never could without a fear of breaking my leg again. However, I am able to cross country ski with ease.

I haven't broken anything fortunately. I did fall badly on my shoulder when I was young and that was an unbelievable mess - the doctor said the force of impact should have broken it, luckily though it wasn't broken.

The idea of breaking bones makes me terribly squeamish, it's probably a good thing it's never happened to me - I'd freak! :)

Never have and hopefully never will.

When we were younger, my cousin and I were playing on a marble floor and he jumped on my ankle and banged it against the floor. Crack.

Nope. And I'm glad too. I hate the thought of breaking a bone.

I've never broken a bone, but I've had many sprains and dislocations. I've had an increment of injuries the past year, due to track.

I've had an incident with my tailbone. I used to do freestyle ice skating, and I was doing a trick (I can't remember the name, it was in freestyle 5), and I fell on my tailbone, while hitting my head on the ice.

Needless to say, I was in pain, and could barely move.

I've fallen off everything, but never broken anything.

Fortunately, I haven't broken a bone yet. x.x I don't plan on breaking one either...

I have never broken a bone. I'm had stitches in my head and had the end of my finger cut off but didn't touch the calcium.

I have not (as of yet) broken a bone. I find it very odd. I would think, being as thin as I am, it would be really easy. Then again, I drink a lot of milk.

I fractured a bone in my lower left leg in two places when I was younger, I didn't fall very far either. At the time when I was in hospital the doctors actually wanted to break the other leg too, long story.
