The Pope's Condition

Fri Apr 01, 2005 6:42 pm

(forewards for your viewing pleasure)

My dad has one of those free-to-air satellites, and we just found out Pope John Paul has died. I wanted to be formal, but I don't know his age.

Not confirmed by the Vatican yet. Reuters also jumped the gun when Yasser Arafat died by 2 days.

The Vatican says he's still alive, just. So no death yet, it'd be up on the internet almost instantly that he died. Hell, I bet they have all the articles on his death pre-written. Just so they stamp a date on it and voila, takes about a minute.

Anyway, he's 84.

(again, forwards)

Actually, we're watching the news feed (long live Free-To-Air satellites, and NOT Rune! :P) from the Vatican and they confirmed it.

EDIT - the Vatican just DENIED the Pope was dead. o__O Why do I always speak too soon? Oh, and thanks Paulie. I should remember that. :)

26 years he was the pope... well he still is but he's obviously going to die today or in the early hours of tomorrow...
Poor old guy...

Nuh uh. It's 15 days after the pope is dead, and during that time his chamberlin takes on the duties and the powers of the pope until a new one is elected. Or at least that's what Angels And Demons says.

And trust me, he's not dead. I'm refreshing CNN every 10 seconds to see if he's dead.

Also, you may want to change the topic title DM as it looks misleading.

He was a brilliant pope, the best we've had in a while. I know he was read his last rights, so at least that's all squared away. I heard they jumped the gun on his death and that he's unconscious and breathing shallowly.

I heard this as well. The teachers in our school got an e-mail from the school board confirming it. But my teacher said it may not be true.

I hope it isn't true.
