Sun Mar 13, 2005 1:37 am

I'm taking the SAT tomorrow. should've taken it today, but i got to a jewish school so, even though i do stuff on saturdays, i still got a clergy letter which let me do it on sunday. call it... extended.
so its tomorrow.
and im cramming 42 vocab words. ok 41 (i now know what obdurate means).
i took a prep course, i got my million.5 examples for the essay.
BRING IT ON!!!

sigh...

Yay Jewish school :P.

Eek, SATs. Good luck with that!

Good luck! I've only taken the PSAT, but I heard the SAT was easier... Just make sure you know those annoying quantitative comparisons (sp?) things, and words like... I don't know... Big words!

nope! no quantitive comparisons anymore! no analogies (black::blue as red::???) either! now there are sentence completions, which is basically not only knowing what a word is, but also knowing how to use it. here's a spunky example from my practice test today:

"When Jerome awoke from his nightmare, he had difficulty ______ whether his memory was of an amorphous dream or of an actual reality."
a) ascertaining
b) exonerating
c) disputing
d) concealing
e) importuning

Isn't it A?

And are you serious?! *jumps up and down screaming excitedly because her least favorite parts were taken off* In that case, good luck on the essay!

The SAT is easier. I took the PSAT last october and the SAT today. The new essay portion isn't too bad, but I have the uncanny ability to whip up a decent essay pretty quickly. It's 3 hours and 45 minutes long, so you'd better sleep and eat enough beforehand.

You're lucky if you can do essays... I... CAN'T... to say the least... I am going to have major problems with it...

Oooh good luck with your SAT's.. although with all the cramming you seem to have done it doesn't sound like you'll need it! :)

Sun Mar 13, 2005 2:27 am

I am an essay-writing fiend!! That's why I'm considering retaking the SAT's to try to improve my "ehhh" score of 1265 (damn math section!). With any luck I can get a 1300 and wriggle my way like a grimy cockroach into UT! Yeah!

Tips: Make a really knockout last sentence. It'll be the last thing they read, and the one they'll remember. Use anecdotes, but make them interesting. With quotes! Like a narrative!

Good luck on the SATs everyone! I'm lucky because I'm graduating from High School this year so I don't need to take the new SAT. I'm sure you all will do well. :)

UT... Austin? That's where I'm going to go... stupid engineering program being so hard to get into...

Well, good luck on your SAT!

I have no idea how different is the SAT now..with the added writing and no comparisons and analogies.

Just took it this January. :P

Too bad I'm gonna have to take the new SAT in 9-11th grade. :(

And PSAT is easier? That's weird.

:P I'm mad they took away analogies. x_x They were so easy... :P There goes my 1600...

You must be insanely smart, because I'm "supposedly", though I can't tell, someone with a genious IQ, and am good at analogies, but I couldn't figure out most of them...

Sun Mar 13, 2005 6:32 am

Meh, the analogies weren't too bad for me. If I could go in there without studying vocabulary and get most of them right, they weren't too bad. But then again, the stuff that they replaced it with is easier. Plus, I'm good at essays, so this should be fun when I have to take it again for college admissions in a couple of years.
