Do not call

Thu Dec 23, 2004 3:56 am

Remember that do not call list you can get your number on so telemarketers can't call you? Well, turns out in the next few months cell numbers will be given to these same telemarketers.

My business teacher told our class about it earlier today. He also said you can go to http://www.donotcall.gov and add your cell number to the list so it won't be given out.

Just thought I'd give you a heads up. It would stink to get a call from a telemarketer on your cell...that's minutes wasted and money spent there.

dont answer any number i dont recognise anyway.
but if they do call, i find being incredibly irritating ("can you please prove your identity" stops the bank..) gets them to leave me alone.
being an egotystical irritating pratt finally pays off i guess.

My friend got a telemarketer calling her cell phone last week.

Wow, I didn't even know there was a system like this. I'll tell my parents in the morning and see what they say. Very cool.

being on the list, though, should also keep them from being able to text you, which is something you often can't turn down, so it's a good idea to sign up anyway.

II think I got one last night.

See, no-one ever phones me O.o We just like...text...but just in case, I texted everyone I knew asking if it was them trying to prank me or something, which I didn't think was likely anyway, not that many people have my number.

Everyone texted back saying it wasn't them.

Oh joy, the telemarketers arive...><

Be thankful it doesn't cost you to recieve calls, so even if you answer, it's not a problem, which it will be in the US...

::shrugs:: There are a total of two people who call me regularly on my mobile, and 3 others who have ever called. If a number comes up that's not in my phone book and therefore doesn't display a name, it's not going to get answered. (Unless I'm expecting a call from someone and it could be their home number rather than their mobile, or something like that.)

You've got to be careful with recorded messages telling you you've a prize. If you ever hear one hang up immediatly. They're nothing but a con and they charge you £1.50 per minute to recieve the call. Grrr... :x

Feh. We signed up for that thing AGES ago and we still get telemarketers -_-

*signs up*
Thank you. ^_^ Let's hope it works.

Oh, thanks for the heads up. I don't have a cell phone, but I'll have to tell my mom when she gets the cell phone my dad got her for christmas. Good thing she doesn't come to PPT, huh? lol

Isn't it illegal for telemarketers to call cell phones?

My mom sounds interested. If we do register, no more answering the phone as Barbie... :(
(Only Puck will get this)
