Dubloon Disaster Guide by Elvin

I am recommending going against the convention of taking out the mines in the game. In fact keep 9 mines in the map as often as you can. Destroying the mines is risky and time consuming. There is no guarantee the next time you pick up a dubloon another mine wont pop up right next to you. My strategy is this.

Keep the 9 mines in a centre mass. The assumption here is you should be quite a good player. Dive in between two mines and you would bring them closer. If there are 3 mines, stay in the centre and let them move towards you and then move away. This way you would have 3 mines quite close to each other.

Inuyasha’s Dubloon Disaster Guide by Inuyasha

Welcome to Inuyasha’s Dubloon Disaster guide for you cheaters out there! Okay, when you play this game you have to realize that only one whirlpool may appear. Type in the cheat scallywags to get it out of the way.

The goal

Ok most of you know what to do right? Well for those who have never even tried the game all you have to do is collect as many dubloons as you can without being killed by the mines. Although getting the 1k from the game may be good, most of us Neopians set our eyes on that shiny avatar… right? Well that is what I am here for. Just read through this and you will have no problem reaching that 800 point mark 😉

The basics:

This is a mine. Mine –> you = bad.

This is the dubloon list. Obviously the two dubloon coin is most common while the two-hundred is rare. You –> dubloon = good.

Beginners:

Ok to put it straight forward there are two ways of playing this game: one way for beginners and the other for more experienced dubloon thieves…I will show you both.

When trying the super easy way to get dubloons, gather 2-4 dubloons and center yourself in the middle of the them and slowly keep going forward until they eventually run into each other.

Game Explanation:
Dubloon Disaster is simple all you really have to do is steer the little boat around the mines which are always moving toward you. They also move faster toward you as they get closer to you. You are trying to collect as many coins as possible. They will pop up one at a time. You don’t have to run over the coin to get it just get close.

Whirlpools: These are deadly, they will try to suck you in. Try to swim away as far as you can from the whirlpool when it pops up. Some will not do anything and will sink back away but some will suck in everything on the screen. This can be an advantage if you are along way into the game and need a break as there is no pause. But it can also be very annoying if you just got all your mines up and grouped together, when it pops.

Strategy: Basically you drive in circles trying to herd the group of 9 mines as close together as possible. The mines “pop up” in random places, until nine mines are reached. There will never be more than 9 mines on the board at one time. This is important to know because once you have nine mines on the board you will not have to worry about one popping in front of you. Try to keep the mines from exploding on each other. I go run to a corner and move back and forth between corners to “herd” the mines away from the coin. Then just go in circles around the group collecting them. If there happens to be an extra wide space between 2 mines you can run your boat between them to group them closer (caution doing this practice a bit with your boat before hand or you could end the game in an unsightly fashion). It does take a lot of practice to get the group to do what you want it to do. It can be really hard to get some coins if you have the mines too spaced out.

Dubloon Disaster: Behavior of Mines by Mark Ellis

This is a guide for those who can’t seem to stop hitting the mines. This explains why they follow you and ways to use it to your advantage.

OK, basically the point of the game is to collect the coins that drop out of the boat but not to be hit by the heat-seeking mines.

First of all the mines are not heat-seeking, the tactic they use on following you is biased on the gravity-well property. You’ve probably seen this in many boring physics videos about black holes and such. Just imagine your boat is a black hole and that all the mines are not following you, they are “falling” into the well. This is why they go faster the closer they get to you and why the ones at the other side of the screen don’t seem to move at all.
