Neopets at McDonalds by The Wonder Weezel

Well, It was the weekend, so Neopets was up and down. So, for the first time in weeks I got off of Neopets and ventured out for food and it just so happens that my car was full of gas, and Neopets was having their promotion at McDonalds. Yay!

It may have been cloudy outside, but it was extra colorful inside. There were Neopets ads all over the place. I thought the place had enough red and yellow before but they had ads on the doors, the menus, the trays all over. I got sick of that waving red Scorchio VERY fast *that image that was on the countdown to Mcdonalds on the Neopets new features page* because that red Scorchio was on EVERYTHING. Anyway, you guys dont need this much detail, Im just filling in spaces for those of you who wont be seeing Neopets in your country any time soon. Anyway, I got a Happy Meal so I could get my free plushie, and once you buy a Happy Meal, you can buy as many additional toys as you wanted. They were $1.99 each (U.S.) so I started off by getting two extras. I got my order and sat down with my Happy Meal. This time, I can actually say I was indeed, happy.

The happy meal box was VERY cute, and had obviously had lots of time spent on it. There was a Tyrannia seen with a big Chomby who needed help finding his egg, and a Wocky inside of a stone fort, with a Grundo on top as a lookout. There was also a Yurble behind the fort. Tyrannia took up one of the 4 sides of the Happy Meal box. Second, there was a Neopia Central seen with a trail with neopets running up and down it, with the money tree in the middle (and that giant red waving Scorchio… ughhh!). Next, there was a Meridell scene, showing a wall of Meridell Castle, a field with medieval tents, and a lake with a white Lupe looking into it. A confused Blumaroo needed help finding his way to his tent, and a well-drawn purple Ixi was hiding behind a pine tree. The last side of the box was more ads. It had a big pick of Ronald Mcdonald with a laptop, with a passage convincing you to go on Neopets and redeem some free items. There were pictures of TCG cards, a bunch of little neopets, and a How To Draw A Chomby picture. So, enough of the box, lets go inside of it.

*Points out the ugly red Scorchio*

I reach in, and pulled out my hamburger! Okay okay, I’ll get past the eating, even though the fries are delicious. I pulled out my 3 prizes (remember, I bought two extra) and… aw crap, they were all the same thing. Chombies! Like normal, the toys were all inside of a white plastic bag, so it was hard to see what colors they were, but it has a label on the front that said it was a Chomby. I went up to the counter, and asked if I could trade in two of my Chombies for two other Neopets. They had no idea what I was talking about, so I repeated myself in real life language, Could I trade in two of my dinosaurs for two other animals, like the frog one or the alien one? The clerk left, the clerk came back. Sorry, we only have the dinosaur one and the fox thing. Well, I was expecting a Wocky, but it turns out, the fox thing was actually a Lupe. So, I ended up with two Chombies, and a Lupe.

Apparently, they are going to release these the same way they did Teenie Beanie Babies (well, at least at my local Mcdonalds appaer to). For 4 or 5 days they will give out two certain species, then they will give out two different species for 4 or 5 days and at the end, they get rid of whatever they have left. So, This means I’ll have to go to Mcdonalds twice a week if I want the whole collection. Mmmm… fattening.

The bags werent anything special. They were just white bags with colored borders, with pictures of sketchy Yurbles, Scorchios, Quiggles, and a big sketchy picture of the species you receive in the bag. I was surprised, this is the first thing I saw in Mcdonalds that didnt have the ugly red Scorchio on it! 🙂

After struggling with the bags, I pulled out my prizes (hey, those things are hard to open)! Each bag came with 3 things: Your lovely plushie, a real TCG (a promo), and 1 of 2 ads. I ended up with a red Chomby, a blue Chomby and a blue Lupe. Id show pictures, but they arent flat enough to fit on my scanner, and I broke my digital camera in a tragic gym class accident. But thats ok, right? There are pictures of them on www.neopets.com.

Of course, Neopets threw ads in. As I said, you get 1 of 2 ads in each toy bag. One was for the Neopets magazine (Get a FREE magazine for only $3.00!!) and the other one was for the TCG and Neopet cell phone hoo-hah.

I just excited when I found the TCG cards as I was with the plushies. They could have been a prize themselves as they were pretty darn cool. I dont even play the TCG but these had cools pictures on them. Each toy bag came with 1 trading card, so I got three trading cards (see? Im good at math). I got Tormund (the yellow Lupe in armor that you see in the Meridell war room), the Snow Faerie Globe (a cute fairy doll inside of a snowflake shaped globe) and a green Lupe (a green… Lupe)! It appears that these promo cards will be good for TCG players. I dont play, so I dont know much, but based on the numbers on the cards it looks like Tormund and the Snow Faerie Globe were good cards to have. I havent seen any of the other trading cards you can get, but I hope they are as cool as these!

Well, this may be a long review. Im sure most people would just say, I went in, there were lots of ads, and I got a Grundo and a Jubjub and I say it was worth it but I have free time today and Im sure that those of you who live in countries without the Neopets promotion will enjoy reading this. With that said, I certainly hope you did! Well, Ill be back there in 4-5 days when more species are out, but until then… goodbye!
