Time is the seventh studio album by rock band Jazzmosis. The album was recorded from November 8, 1965 until April 26, 1966 and was released on May 26, 1966. Despite not being one of the band's best sellers, Time is considered by many as the greatest and most influential album in the history of popular music. It has been ranked #1 in several music magazine's lists of greatest albums of all time. In 2005, it was ranked at #1 on Blender's list of 100 greatest albums. In 2003, Rolling Stones Magazine named it the second greatest album of all time. According to musicrater.net Time is the most critically acclaimed album of all time.
Prior to the recording of Time Jazzmosis decided to stop touring to focus on the studio. During the recording of Time Jazzmosis hired over sixty sessions musicians. These session musicians played instruments such as violins, violas, cellos, flutes, clarinets, bells, whistles, french horns, triangles, organs, harmonicas, and several new sound effects. The band also played the usual guitar, fuzz bass, and drums. The band also included several harmonies, something that was absent in their previous songs.

Recording took place from November 8, 1965 until April 26, 1966. The first song recorded on the album was Violin Cryin, which featured seven violinists and vocals from the rest of the band. The original recording had guitarist Tyfon Vickles playing electric slide guitar
