	Summary of the boards and what users can expect in each, and what is primarily talked about

The NeoBoard is a collection of boards which users can post messages to each other around the world pertaining to special topics. Several staff members named Moderators look over the NeoBoards, making sure users are following the rules. Users can also self-moderate by reporting a message to moderators which they think is unsuitable for Neopets. There is also a filter which prevents a user from using profanity or lewd conduct on the site. However, many users often use symbols or spaces or a combo of them to use profanity, and it isn't filtered.

Main Forums

Below are a list of the main forums or boards that are available all the time. The table below shows the image icon used to represent the board, official description, and a brief explanation of what generally occurs on each board. In 2011, the icons for most of the boards were updated with new images. Both are shown below. Most of the images were changed entirely though some were only changed slightly or not at all, they were all converted from GIF to PNG.

2011: Prior:	The Official Neopets Team Message Board - This board is where the Neopets Team will post updates about Meepit attacks, technical problems, event issues, and any other announcements we want to make, because we can. :P Basically TNT just post here when there are issues going on with events or some part of the site is down. NOTE Users can't create topics or reply to TNT's topics on this board, its just for viewing.	2011: Prior:	Avatars/NeoSignatures - Want to show off your avatar or need help getting secret ones? How about NeoHTML and NeoSig help? This is the place to discuss avatars and sigs! NOTE: Item pools are a scam and are not allowed! Discussions include the method of obtaining new avatars, help on obtaining avatars, designing a font compatible with certain avatars, scattered Font discussion, and games.
2011: Prior:	Battledome - Find a battle partner! Get weapon information. Anything and everything Battledome is in here. Many announcements regarding recent accomplishments in the battledome, due to the fact that it is the home of some of the wealthiest users and strongest pets. Usually, if there are any problems with hackers or with duplicated items, the members of this chat are the first ones affected.	2011: Prior:	Beauty Contest - Advertise your Beauty Contest entries, and see others you can vote for. (Remember, you can only advertise or start topics regarding YOUR OWN Beauty Contest entry!) Discussions on this board are mostly users asking for votes for the beauty contest and picture rating.
2011: Prior:	Customisation - Post here to make sure no one is wearing the same shirt as your Neopet... that would be embarrassing. This board is made for discussion regarding Neopet Customisation Beta, including topics about the pet redraws and wearable clothes items. Many users use this as an advertisement for wearable clothing items in trades and in shops.	2011: Prior:	Evil Things and Monster Sightings - ''Pant Devil steal your Wand of Ultra Nova? Are you a Sloth minion? This board is for you. This board consists mostly of users identifying themselves as 'emo' or 'goth', and is typically used for general chat.
2011: Prior:	Fan Clubs - Have a favourite pet? Petpet? Item? Discuss it here! Mostly made up of chat groups, as well as people who like certain celebrities, shows, etc. Usually not Neopets-related.	2011: Prior:	Games - Need help? Have questions? Want to compare your score with others'? Yup, the Games board is for you. Discussions on this board are not limited to Kadoatery feedings, "Chat and Plays," and everything else game related.
2011: Prior:	Guilds - If you're looking for a guild, this is the place to start your search! This is a user advertisement board, an easy place to find a guild. Users can lurk for guilds, or request for ones in certain categories. The people on this board will be glad to provide you with an overview of their guild.	2011: Prior:	Habitarium - Need help figuring out how to best care for your Petpetpets? Talk to others and tell stories about your Habitariums."! This board is used to chat about the Habitarium, people rant about getting raid and offer to help by giving habitarium items to others.
2011: Prior:	Help - Need Neopets help? If you've got a question, this is the place to get answers. Discussions on this board are mostly Neopets help questions. Some of the most common topics are screenie help, general account questions including freezing (see frozen) and scratch card help. Among the slower boards.	2011: Prior:	Ideas / Suggestions - Have an idea or suggestion for Neopets, but want to get some feedback on it first? This is the place to go! This board is mostly off topic threads. Shop advertisements, and user lookup ratings are common.
2011: Prior:	Keyquest - Discuss Key Quest including games, chat, keys and more! This board is full of 90% complaining, people get real mad about getting "quit" on Keyquest and you will always find multiple boards about this subject, you can also find a partner to play Keyquest with or just chat, it is rather slow though.	2011: Prior:	Merchandising - Chat about your real life Neopets plushies... or perhaps those Pocket Neopets that like to wake up early in the morning. Whatever you've got, this is the board for all you merchandise collectors! This board is off topic, and is mainly user shop advertisements.
2011: Prior:	NC Mall - Questions, comments, discussions... have at it. Discuss the NC Mall and the items contained within! This board has mostly people trying to trade for NC items. Mainly NC Mall general chat.	2011: Prior:	NeoQuest + NeoQuest II - All the messages in this board must be about NeoQuest or NeoQuest II. This board is a great place for NeoQuest help. It is a mostly on topic board, but commonly mistaken for the quest help board.
2011: Prior:	Neohomes - Need help buying, building, or decorating your Neohome? This is the board where you can talk about everything Neohome! This board is dedicated to the discussion of Neohomes whether the newer 2.0 version or the classic homes.	2011: Prior:	Neopets: Treasure Keepers - Quests, adventure, and your very own shop. Oh, also, TREASURE! Hang out and chat about Treasure Keepers. (Lawyerbot Disclaimer: Our standard rules about sharing personal information still apply... don't.) ;) This board is used for general chat topics about Treasure Keepers, a Neopets-related Facebook game.
2011: Prior:	Neopound - Learn about Neopets that other users are going to abandon and find out stories about other Neopians who have adopted Neopets. Used for users looking to adopt pets, advertise pets up for adoption and trade pets. Often has "Dreamie Giveaway" threads where users guess a pet being given away and the winner guesses the pet.	2011: Prior:	Neopian Writers - If you're a writer, this the board for you. Whether you write Neopian Adventures, Neopian Times articles, Storytelling entries, or whatever, you'll find other writers here to talk with. While this board does focus on writing, it is not always Neopets related. Topics on book fan fiction can be quite common. Much of this board though is off topic.
2011: Prior:	Newbies - Introduce yourself and meet other newbies! The most active of the neoboards, and the most off topic. Generally viewed as what the "General Chat" previously was (even by TNT)[1][2]. A good amount of the boards here can often end with account silencings.	2011: Prior:	Other Worlds - Discover new places! Or just chat about your made up one. :) Like the Newbie and Fan Club boards, this board is off topic. Expect random chats and Jelly World threads. Popular among Altador Cup groups during the off-seasons.
2011: Prior:	Petpet Park - Discuss the Petpet Park with fellow players. Mostly discussions about the in-game quests and possible glitches.	2011: Prior:	Quests - Need help with a quest? The kind folks in here are willing to lend a hand! This is the board to get faerie quest help. Post what item you need and a user can search it using the Shop Wizard.
2011: Prior:	Role Playing - All the messages in this board have to be in character. If you don't abide by the rules, and enough people complain, we reserve the right to freeze your account! The main purpose of this board is a venue for the players to role play.	2011: Prior:	Shop Ads - Advertise your shop or find good deals on the item you've always wanted. This board contains people selling and buying things in their shops, and working out prices with other people.
2011: Prior:	Spotlights and Galleries - Want suggestions or opinions on your spotlight entry? Want tips from previous spotlight winners? Come on in. This board contains advertisements and opinions for galleries and and spotlights.	2011: Prior:	Stock Tips - Need some investment tips? All the latest on the Neopian Stock Market is in here. On this board, opinions of the Neo Daq are shared.
2011: Prior:	Trading / Auctions - Advertise your trade and auction lots here! The board consists mainly of people who spend their time trading for profits.	2011: Prior:	Virtupets - Gather 'round, all minions of Sloth. Plot the downfall of Neopia! Unless, of course, you'd rather plot the downfall of Sloth himself. This board is off topic although Dr. Frank Sloth is commonly mentioned. Mainly populated by Altador Cup team chat groups during the tournament's off-season.

Premium boards

The premium boards are only accessible by premium users.

	Charter Members - A board for longtime Premium Members. If you can see this board, that's you! This board is only available when a premium user stays for more than three months.		Help and Newbies - If you need help or are a new Premium Member with questions, this is your board! This board contains introductions and general questions.
	Main Hall - Hang out with other premium members and discuss the finer points of Neopian life. (As always, please keep topics Neopets related. Thanks!) This is the main premium board and is a general Neopets chat.		Spotlights and Games - Get some input on your gallery spotlight entry or get help on that tough game avatar. Your spotlight and game banter goes here. Here, Tarla, the daily puzzle, and other game related things are discussed. Beta games released to premium users are also discussed.

Sometimes, boards can exist for beta testing of games, like Petpetpet Habitats.

Other boards

There are other boards which are part of the Neoboard, but are either hidden or only appear at certain times.

Plot

The Plot board's title and content changes to whatever the current plot is at the time. The URL always remains the same, but is only active when a plot is open. Past titles included:

• The Tale of Woe - Wander the Haunted Woods with Gilly and uncover the truth behind the mysterious Tale of Woe.
• Journey to the Lost Isle - A journal and a tablet lead a very dedicated professor on a journey to find the mysterious lost isle!
• The Return of Dr. Sloth - Discuss the latest comics and puzzles. Evil is back!
• Daily Dare - Discuss the latest challenges and games.
• Atlas of the Ancients - Discuss comics, quests and game strategies for our latest adventure!
• The Faeries' Ruin - Discuss the latest comics, puzzles and activities!
• - *Yikes!* Krawk Island is Gone. - Well most of the island is gone. Discuss what has happened to the island, strategies for finding the island, and much more...
• - Haunted Faire - Discuss the latest finds from applebobbing, and what happened when the Wheel of Misfortune was spun! This is the time of the Haunted Faire and all of its surprises...
• - Winter Starlight Celebration - The Advent Calendar, a hibernating Snowager, and... revelry. Don't forget the revelry. All at the Winter Starlight Celebration!

Non-plot boards

• Jelly World - Jelly World? That's just a myth. It doesn't exist. Off-topic boards are considered spam and WILL be deleted. Stick to the topic, please.
• The Haunted Faire - Are you brave enough to go to the Haunted Faire? Here you can talk about prizes, quests and other haunted activities.
• Third Annual Neopies - Discuss the events, items, animations, and fun that everyone had last year and figure out who you think will win!
• Festival of Neggs - Neggs! Who doesn't love them? Talk to your friends about the quests, puzzles, neggs, prizes and more!
  • Festival of Neggs - Neggs! Who doesn't love them? Join the Negg Festival and talk to your friends about the hunt, neggs, prizes and more!
• Neopets Trading Card Game - Need help building a deck? Wanna get info on that super rare Villain? This is the place.
• Battledome Closed Beta - Share your feedback, post bugs, ask questions, find other testers for 2-player battles... you name it. This board is only for closed beta testers!

There's also an Admin Board of DOOM, which can only be seen by TNT and moderators.

Trivia

• It is possible to make invisible boards on the NeoBoards by using square brackets to make what is written be processed as tags. This is a freezable offence.
• There used to be a General Chat board. It was removed because too many users were breaking rules and discussing things they shouldn't be. Its old URL is now used for event boards, such as Daily Dare and Neopia's Style Showdown. The Newbie Boards are now used as the General Chat.

Filters

The NeoBoard filters automatically change some things players try to post into something else. Some of these are easter eggs and others are anti-abuse measures.

• Posting 5514344, the telephone number for the Ghostbusters in the movie of the same name, causes Ghostbusters! to appear in its place
• Whenever certain words (likely depending on length) are posted, followed by a hard return, an underscore would appear after it. If the word was followed by a punctuation mark, the underscore would appear before it. The word must begin with on, but some shorter phrase, such as only do not cause this glitch. Words such as online, and of course onion, do, however.
• Off-site links are blocked, as is the URL for Jelly World.
• If the phrase this is not a scam is posted, it is replaced automatically by This is a scam! Report me!.
• If the phrase bikini is posted, it is replaced with cardigan.
• On talk like a pirate day, some words would come out as common pirate words. For example, "see" turned to "spy" and "n00b" turned to "landlubber."
• Certain phrases associated with HTML or CSS coding get filtered, for example background-image become I have the intelligence of a roof shingle.
• In 2009 with the release of The Twilight Saga: New Moon, Neopets enabled a filter that changed Twilight related names and words to random words.
