Motes are items categorized under Brightvale Motes but  were originally categorized as Magic Items. Though they are considered items, they are living, a fact all the more true from the Book The Water Mote, which tells the tale of one such Mote. All Motes have a 20% chance of breaking each time they are used but will not break until after the battle has finished so they can be used unlimited times in a single battle.

Motes are generally considered to be bad items to use in battles due to their high chance of breaking and their low attack and defensive powers.

Revision as of 16:31, 13 October 2013

Six examples of motes.

A Mote is a small being of magical energy taking a specific elemental or environmental form. Most motes are fragile Battledome items with low offensive or defensive power.

General Overview

Battle Motes

Motes are items categorized under Brightvale Motes but were originally categorized as Magic Items. Though they are considered items, they are living, a fact all the more true from the Book The Water Mote, which tells the tale of one such Mote. All Motes have a 20% chance of breaking each time they are used but will not break until after the battle has finished so they can be used unlimited times in a single battle.

Motes are generally considered to be bad items to use in battles due to their high chance of breaking and their low attack and defensive powers.

As of August 2013, there are the following Motes:

• Air Mote
• Ash Mote
• Bronze Mote
• Bubble Mote
• Dee Mote
• Dirt Mote
• Dung Mote
• Dust Mote
• Ee Mote
• Electrical Mote
• Fire Mote
• Frost Mote
• Gold Mote
• Hail Mote
• Hair Mote
• Ice Mote
• Jelly Mote
• Lava Mote
• Rock Mote
• Salt Mote
• Silver Mote
• Smoke Mote
• Snow Mote
• Vicious Mote
• Water Mote
• Weewoo Mote
• Wood Mote
• Zen Mote

TCG Motes

There are five motes and three Novas that are only featured in the TCG card sets. The following motes and novas are listed as followed:

• Air Nova
• Dark Nova
• Fire Mote
• Fog Mote
• Nova
• Rock Mote
• Ultranova
• Water Mote

Darkest Faerie Motes

There are twelve motes and two nova motes that are found in the Neopets: The Darkest Faerie video game, these following motes and nova motes are:

• Air Mote
• Bubble Mote
• Fire Mote
• Fog Mote
• Lava Mote
• Leaf Mote
• Light Mote
• Nova Mote
• Rock Mote
• Shadow Mote
• Sun Mote
• Supernova Mote
• Water Mote
• Wind Mote

Nova

All novas currently in existence.

Although called a Magic Item, a Nova is considered a Mote due to its ability to hold all elements of magic within it, and not just a single one as regular Motes (a fact established in Neopets: The Darkest Faerie).

Magical Novas have a different degree of power in each form. They are:

• Nova
• Supernova
• Dark Nova
• Ultranova

Motes were also feature in Petpet Park. They are mainly obtained at the Nova Craft Fountain. The Novas are listed as followed:

• Alien Nova
• Corrihan Nova
• Ice Nova
• Lava Nova
• Malrone Nova
• Mariki Nova
• Mystical Magic Nova
• Paper Nova
• Shimmering Hearts Nova
• Tassyana Nova

These Novas can be used in the Battledome. Most are single-use (also known as bombs) and will disappear after being thrown at an opponent. Wands, Staffs, and Rods will create Novas of the corresponding type in the Battledome. For example, a Staff of Dark Nova will produce two Dark Novas each round it is used. Rods are considerably more powerful, because in addition to producing three Novas, they will also heal, attack, and defend, and they will not break. There is currently no 'Rod of Ultranova. Due to their relatively high price and low power, only Ultranovas and Rods tend to be used in the Battledome.

There are ten more kinds of Novas that serve as minions for Dr. Sloth: Mechanical Novas, Fire Novas, Pulsar Novas, Dark Nova, Light Nova, Friendly Novas, Attack Novas, Mecha Novas, Super Novas, and Ultra Novas. They are featured in the game Nova Defender.

The Scarabnova is unique, because it can be considered both a Nova and a Scarab. It is retired, obtainable only from the Brucey B and the Lucky Coin plot. In the Battledome, it either steals a Nova from the opponent or destroys them all.

The Grey Nova and Christmas Nova have no battle functions.
