Template Revisions[edit]

Character Categories[edit]

When you are adding categories to a characters aritcle, be sure to cancel out the Category:Characters category if they are a heroes or villains (or if they are both, which does happen). After that, add any other category that is applicable, such as Category:Chias, Category:Battledome Opponents, Category:Defenders of Neopia Opponents, etc. --Jacob 17:49, 10 Jul 2006 (CDT)

"Defenders of Neopia Opponents" has since been simplified to Defenders of Neopia, which encompasses all the aspects of the game. --Jacob 08:17, 18 September 2008 (UTC)

Slimming down the list[edit]

In the continuing goal to slim the listing down of this category...it seems to need to think about something more than "heroes" and "villains" to make it smaller (veterans of the NeoDex know what I mean). It seems we may need to take it a step further: Cut the characaters category from articles should they have any Neopet subcategory connected to them. Of course, if that's done, almost no articles (none at all?) will be connected to this category. Still, it needs to be cut down, so... *shrugs* what does everyone else think? --Jacob 14:21, 15 Oct 2007 (UTC)

What I was thinking is to remove this category from the articles that have any character subcategories (i.e. Battledome Opponents, Faeries, Heroes, Villains, Petpet Characters). That might slim down the amount of articles but still have articles remaining. If the list is still too large maybe more subcategories are in order (e.g. Altador Cup, Better Than You, a new Game Characters category). --Dizzy 16:18, 15 Oct 2007 (UTC)
I would have to say no to "game characters", when just saying "characters" could work just as well. Altador Cup or Better Than You wouldn't work, due to the fact one is a plot and the other a gaming notice, when we are supposed to be focusing on character specific categories. Same goes for the "Battledome Opponents" category. Neopet subcategories still seem like the most likely path. --Jacob 02:26, 16 Oct 2007 (UTC)
I agree. I think that using the species of Neopet as a category is a good solution. I think one problem with this, however would be that users wouldn't necessarily know where the character came from (without clicking). On Neoitems, there are a lot of requests for specialized lists because they make finding the information you need easier. I think that, because there are so many Altador Cup team members, that they, with the announcers, fans, and other characters deserve a category of their own. What about two categories like "Site Event Characters" for Plot characters including Altador Cup Characters and "Game Characters" for Better Than You, Poker, Food Club, Cheat, Gormball... etc. -Cath 07:20, 16 Oct 2007 (UTC)
"site event characters" are shown via categories such as Category:Battle for Meridell and Category:Altador Cup. I don't think we need to go as far to organize characters via specific games such as Gormball and the like. something to think about for the future though. Is it alright to go ahead with the slimming down with Neopet characters then (making their subcategory dominate)? Certainly would clean up the list. and on the subject on uncategorized characters, who are unknown species, they can remain here. Sounds about right, and is what we did with the Petpets category. --Jacob 03:11, 17 Oct 2007 (UTC)
Sorry if I was unclear, I didn't mean to separate them into their individual games. The category would just be "Game Characters" and would include those games (they were listed as examples). Other than that clarification, I don't have any objections. Do what you will, leader man! :D -Cath 03:23, 17 Oct 2007 (UTC)
