Abandoning, Adopting, and Transferring

Why has it even been down as long as it has? It shouldn't take this long to redo some coding, unless they're redoing the entire Pound system. :\

The thing is, I think that is exactly what they are doing...

Yeah. Figuring out what happens to the clothing on a pet is the hard part (remember, the pound went down right after the redesign with customization and such). What should happen if you try to abandon a pet without all its clothing? You don't want the clothing to magically regenerate (colors like robot, where the clothes cover the entire pet, will devalue like a rock), but you might not want to allow the painted pets to be abandoned "naked", or to force someone to have to rebuy all the original clothing if they gave it away / sold it off.

I'm worried that there are so many pets still being abandoned into the system, while it's still in a broken state...

I'm not sure it would be so bad to magically regenerate clothing since it's non-tradable. Although I can see why neopets wouldn't want to do that since it's potentially exploitable. Similarly you can't force someone to rebuy all the original clothing since paintbrush clothing cant be bought or sold. However I think the person abandoning the pet should be able to keep the clothing if they choose. If not it would be like penalizing a person for putting a painted pet up for adoption.

I do think that this is probably one of the aspects keeping the pound down though. I wish they'ed give us more information about the process.
