I don't think NC's really gonna be hit. Poor FL though...

Yeah, NC is gonna be it. Both are headed right for it. Obviously, they both will weaken, but there will still be flooding. And Hurricane David just hit NC too.

Us South Carolinians are getting some of Bonnie tonight. Oh, joyeth. Lake-front property, ho!

Incase some of you don't know, there's a rather large hurricane that is about to start pounding the west coast of florida. The hurricane is supposed to hit land within 24 hours and travel right through central florida. For all of your who live in the tampa bay area, you can go to http://www.wtvt.com and find out where there will be sandbags. Most of the local firestations are handing them out. The one in my area has a very very long line, but please don't let that discourage you guys, if you need them, go, don't kick yourself for not waiting afterwards. All of you can go to that site to track the storm if you'd like, they also have the hurricane guide if you've lost the one that was given out earlier this year. If you need batteries and water, you should definantly hurry because I can't find any anywhere, so you're cutting it close if you need em. Good luck everyone, hopefully it'll go by fast and just speed through the state with minimal damage, but it doesn't look like it'll do that. Godspeed to you and yours, hope to see you all in a few days.
~Maria

Thank you for your help Maria. I hope the hurricane does not harm you in anyway. I'm praying for you, I hope your family and you are safe.

Not again.......I may live in New York, but there's still a chance that we'll get rained on pretty well if it makes it up here.
Maybe it'll be something like yesterday. Pooring rain, flooding, and I lost power for 8 hours. And that wasn't a hurricane........Hope that everything in Florida and such goes better than it did here.

As of right now Charley is a catagory 2 hurricane with winds of 105 mph.

I hope all of you Floridians make it through this. I'd board up my house and head to higher ground if I lived in Florida.

Whatever's left of Charley is supposed to head up the eastern seaboard to New England >_< I don't think it'll be a hurricane once it reaches us. Just a tropical storm. They're mainly concerned about wind though.

My uncle lives down there. They're supposed to get 12 foot high waves, and the poles the boats are tied to at the marina down there are only 8 foot high....

So my uncle is worried he is going to lose his boat. And unfortunately, his boat is also his house.

As per there being a lot of hurricanes, they get named in order of their appearance, starting with the letter A. And as you can tell, being as we're only to letter D the hurricane season just started, which makes this extra poopie because most people haven't gotten all their supplies together yet.

To the houseboat uncle, I'd tell him to try and go further south if he lives in the bay area, it's expected to come to us through pinellas county, so going as far south as you can will mean you'll get the least reverberation from the storm, most likely. Of course, I wouldn't blame him if he's not willing to travel in this weather, heh, you'd have to be pretty crazy to be on the water right now. All that matters is he's safe, everything else can be worked out.

As per the most recent news reports, Charlie is supposed to turn into a catagory four, or "major" hurricane before it touches ground in florida some time tomorrow. The last statement at 105 mph puts it at almost a catagoy 3 already, so we're in for a real interesting ride.

On a side note, filling sand bags really sucks.

Thanks for the kind wishes, I'm sure everyone will be fine, even though this is the scaredest I've ever been (even scarier than my spelling and making up words!)

I hope you're talking about last year. Actually, you are. The next name (if you follow the pattern) should be a female one.

Even though I'm pretty safe in Pennsylvania here, we were hit pretty hard by Isabelle last year (you should've seen some of the trees here). Good luck, and do your best to protect your house!

EDIT: I just looked at the maps at weather.gov , and it looks like both are heading right for me! Fun, fun...*gets out the pylwood*

Yep, both are heading straight for us, which doesnt help our floodings that have been a regular thing this summer.

That's just perfect! You know why? Because I'm on vacation. At where? South Florida! And the hurricane is going where? South Florida!

Yippe! Death Awaits Me! :peace:

PS. It's Friday the 13th. That's even more perfect!

Oh great. I'm gonna be on an island.

Good luck to everyone in Florida and I hope the house/boat survives.
