Leaky batteries made your fuzz remover stop working.

Clumsy girl defeats vinegar.

You should really click on the video link, though... (until we can embed video here...)
I hope her eyes are okay. Terrible lab safety protocol. Minutes since last accident: 0.

ROFL :roflol:  :roflol:  :roflol:

Her eyes? My eyes! I have tears of laughter streaming from my eyes! Not what I was expecting, for sure. Hoo boy. I highly recommend watching this when you are over-tired.

Safety Goggles/PPE beats chemical splashes into the eyes:

I am still laughing about that video. It truly is not what I expected. The first day, I watched it without the sound on... Today, I heard it. LOL. So funny. I do hope her eyes are ok, though. Fortunately, that type of vinegar should not cause any damage, just discomfort until rinsed out.

A rough surface will make it impossible to see through your safety goggles.

Story time: When my little brother was in first grade or so, he'd just gotten a pair of new glasses. The optician had upsold my mom on a scratch-resistant coating. Once it was on the glasses, the optician demonstrated the coating to my mom and my brother by trying to scratch the glasses with a key. That weekend, my siblings and I were at the park when my little brother decided to send his glasses down the metal "tornado" slide. We warned him they would scratch, but he bragged about how they couldn't.

They did.

When he put them on, there were heavy, dense scratches exactly where his eyeballs were, so that his eyes actually looked all white. It still cracks me up remembering what they looked like (for the half-second before his realization that he couldn't see through them and was about to be in big trouble).

When my mom brought the glasses to the optician for new lenses, the optician tried to charge her. My mom told her she was the idiot for demonstrating scratch-resistance in front of a young child, and the new lenses were free (with an admonition that this was a one-time deal). He'd of course learned his lesson by then!

Plastic Granulator will take care of those glasses in a few seconds...
Image

Sometimes, people just do not think before acting. I think we are all guilty of that from time to time, though.

For what its worth, his lenses were scuffed, not scratched.

A rock will jam the gears of the plastic granulator quite nicely...

Image

Well, a scuff would usually be less deep; these were pretty deep marks, I think caused by small rocks on the slide (the playground had very coarse sand). (A scratch is caused by a sharp surface meeting a smooth surface, and I think the rocks qualify as sharp, just based on the evidence...)

Fine... A rock crusher will crush that rock!

Image

Yeah, sand is extremely abrasive. That nice rubbery silicone stuff is really abrasive in liquid form, too. It quickly wears the steel in injection mold tooling.

Even a rock crusher is no match for a tornado!
Image

(And those western Australia storms are no joke - my dad spent several months supervising the repair of a tower after a major hurricane. Given the damage to the tower (including a concrete block weighing more than a fully loaded tractor-trailer being blown off the tower and landing several hundred meters away), they estimated a tornado with the strongest winds to ever strike Australia. Thankfully, the tower was in an isolated area, so no homes or other buildings were damaged by the tornado, though of course the hurricane did do other damage.

I can't remember whether that was the tower that my dad said he was climbing to inspect but reached a point where the visible damage had compromised the integrity of the tower to such a degree that he radioed he was coming back down immediately because a strong enough gust of wind could have brought the whole thing down. Of course, "immediately" meant the hour it had taken him to climb to that point. Thankfully there were no more storms in the area before they were able to repair the tower. Being an engineer isn't just pencil-pushing!

These were huge towers - so big that they had several smaller towers connected by guy wires supporting them - even the smaller towers were larger than cell towers.)

Tornado bunkers "beat" a tornado. At least you will not get picked up and killed...

Image

I would imagine that only some sort of Austin Powers' Dr. Evil Weather Machine can actually stop a tornado, but this is probably the best bet.

I also wonder if that little spinning vent would survive a tornado direct hit...

Or this weather machine from Robot Chicken...

Image

But the bunker seemed like a more realistic option ;)

There's botulism in your home-canned tornado bunker food cache.
