Day 16 - Faerie Cloud Racers
AAA - 1250
Prize: Tooth Faerie Racer

Abi - 75
Prize: Faerie Cloud Racers Colouring Book

Lulu - 100
Prize: Fire Faerie Racer

Code: Type faerie to clear all obstacles (one use).

I don't mind this game, but very rarely play it. I should be able to beat AAA with a little more effort.

Beat it.

All you gotta do is make it past the first ridiculously fast stage and you're golden.

It's a lot easier to just circle around where the fairies are winding themselves into a coil/zigzag and shut them off from escape. Keep calm and take the easier path. For the most part, avoid confronting them directly and mess up their trajectories from afar. The AI may be able to read your movements, but they can't do a thing about it if they're not next to you.

I can't even get to that stage half the time...

Oh No!! :o I don't think I'll be able to do it.. I suck at this game! I'll be at it all day. 16/16 so far... but I think this one will do me in... :( I'll be checking in regularly for any more tips.

Re: Daily Dare 2009

Actually, you won't be 16/16 until you clear today's challenge. Good luck with that.

Also, I wrote a bit more in the Neoboards about the game, so I'll just take that and put it back here:

I'll copy/paste what I said somewhere else.

It's a lot easier to just circle around (go wide) where the fairies are winding themselves into a coil/zigzag and trap em. Keep calm and take the easier path. For the most part, avoid confronting them directly. The AI may be able to read your movements, but they can't do a thing about it if they're not next to you as you're cutting them off.

That part I wrote here. Then I went on to say:

Most of the time, if faced with a large amount of obstacles and a tight space, the computer will go nuts and trap itself, so it's really just a waiting game. Try to hog all the nice empty spaces for yourself. Trap them at your leisure if they're far away, but don't hurt yourself trying!
As a plus, since your ride is slower, they'll run out of room faster than you do, so just watch where you're going and it'll all fall into place. Or slam into a wall. Whatever works.

That part about a slower ride? Pick the space or water faerie flyer. Whatever advantage you may have had with more speed will be compensated by the fact that you won't crash as much because you're not breaking the sound barrier. Also, the opponent will run out of track earlier than you do.

Final tips:

After you completely win the first "INCREDIBLY SUPER DUPER FAST SPEED" level, you'll have enough points guaranteed, unless you took reaaaaally long to finish one of the rounds.
To compensate for the added speed, the tooth faerie level (which won't be the tooth faerie level if you picked her, but what do I know) has less obstacles in it.
As before, try to go wide and coil around where she is, and more often than not she'll accidently trap herself at high speed and get crushed before you do, if you are able to keep things calm and focused on your end.

Of course, the name "Faerie Flying Chicken Death Derby" wasn't as well received.

Okay, I just wanted to save that gem cause it's handy to have a response when somebody asks why it's called "Faerie Cloud Racers" when there's no racing involved.

If my tips prove to be unsatisfactory (I'm not a professional, after all), this guy here that I mentioned earlier writes up some really nice ones once he's actually awake. Cause right now, it's a bit too early.

Okay, thanks! I just got a measley 442... :x my personal best.. I've only gotten has high as 271 before..

Oops! You're right.. I've only gotten 15/15.. sorry. You're explanation helped me get those extra 200 points, so I'll keep practicing! :)

When I was a wee knickerbocker in an age of long ago.. I played TRON - sucked at that too! LOL.

You're scaring me with the SUPER DUPER EXTREMELY FAST level... I've never gotten that far...

Here I go...... hope to return victorious!

ooohh.. I'm getting a teensy bit better.. 633! I'm inching up the ladder!

1171... up from 906 a few weeks ago when I was practicing pre-DD. If I could just beat the toothfaerie 3 times, I think I'd have it.

(Oh, and Katbody, you shouldn't double-post. If someone hasn't posted after you, use the edit button to add to your message.)

Sorry. Thanks for the tip!

I finally hit that crazy speed! Died right away because I wasn't prepared for that! But I got up 915. There's hope.. there's hope for me yet!

UPDATE:

I DID IT!! Yay!  Score: 1324 NOW I'm 16/16. Thanks for the tips! Good Luck to everyone!

Grrr... This game doesn't register my button presses half the time. I know I'm pressing the right ones, and I'm playing on lowest quality so it isn't lag... :x

Edit:
Finally I'm done with this game...

Score: 2597

16/16!

Also, be sure to get that coloring book. It's really expensive for an Abigail prize at almost 3500 NP. If only that had been the AAA prize...

Re: Daily Dare 2009

Oh my god. I can't even beat Abigail at this game... and I think I'm wasting my ticket even trying with Lulu. I'm so annoyed and frustrated... I've tried your tips and STILL bang right into those other cars. I hate this game with a new and burning passion.

Took over 30 tries but I finally got 100 points. Ugh. No wonder I only play it during the daily dare... its HORRIBLE.

His guide is up now. Complete with a tiny gif video example.

At least this game was less annoying than Meerca Chase.
Here are my scores for today, before I got the final one. I didn't think to count the number of times I played the game!

1188 1181 1064 908 778
247 400 674 1030 817
805 1055 899
--------------------------
1323

Is the Lulu item worth buying?

Edit: Strategies I used.
1. Choose the water faerie as your character - she's slower but that'll help you in higher levels.
2. I always try and go up the side, then box the faerie in when they're going in the opposite direction to me (sorry, can't make that very clear in words)
3. Level 1: Fire Faerie. This level is pretty simple as the Fire Faerie will generally follow a predictable path of going up.
4. Level 2: Snow Faerie. Watch out for this one, she doesn't care where she goes and will smash into you if she can.
5. Level 3: Earth Faerie. Even worse than the snow faerie - this one's very crash-happy
6. Level 4: Tooth Faerie. Watch out for the obstacles on this one. The faerie will try and trap you more intelligently but DON'T use the cheat here.
7. Level 5: Darkness Faerie. Use the cheat on the screen where it shows the two faeries in their racers, this will clear the screen. Try going on a loop around the outside to trap the faerie in the box.
8. I have had troubles with keys too. It's a matter of timing (and also the stupid advert at the bottom of the page screwing things up.
9. Don't give up! Look at how many tries and scores I got before hitting the jackpot.

Good luck!

Beat AAA today, but had an unfortunate accident yesterday which saw me click Abi. :(

FCR isn't too hard, I just kept dying on stage 5 (the first fast level).

I use the simple method of flying straight towards the opponent then flying under and around in a box shape, then when the chance arrives, making the box smaller to trap the other racer, and using the opening at the other side to come down into your open "box" area.

This method is good for later levels when you need a lot of room in your "box" to fly around until the other racer traps themselves.

I use the first racer (fire).

It seems to be a well-used strategy by many here at PPT. :)
