I don't consider myself a "grammar nazi", but I have been called a grammar snob a few times. I do tend to be grammar obsessive. It is simply one of my "pet peeves", though. I think the way you speak and/or type is just another way that you present yourself to others. It's important to use proper grammar, in my opinion, but I do understand that not everyone has had grammar pushed on them for as long as I have. There are also age/educational differences and/or language barriers can be the cause of some of the common grammar mistakes. I don't hold poor grammar or spelling against anyone. I just choose to try my best to use it properly. {I think my biggest "grammar pet peeve" is the misuse of the forms of there/they're/their and your/you're. I'm sure all of this makes me a geek.}

I think a lot of the members who left decided not to come back because of the original disappearance of the forums. I don't think it has much to do with post counts or the forums being recreated in general. I know that I had a hard time when the forums went away, because I didn't know what was going on, when or if the forums would come back, and after a while I just lost interest in constantly checking to see if they had returned.

The Outkasts group needs to come back ;)

Anyways Hpfan36, the only advice I can give is if you really want to "fit-in" again then you have to get over this initial, "I don't feel like I belong" and really the only way I can see to get over it is to think "I don't care what all the members who don't know me think, I'm here, I'm going to post and this is my opinion/idea/etc".

I think its more insecurity about the new forums than anything else but remember, even though some people may be gone (as are most of the old RPGs), there are still some of the old people here and I know a number of the old RPGs have been started up again and they're all really happy when they see another of the older members join again (that means and includes you!!!) :D

Oh, and welcome back, its a pleasure to see you again!

CSK wrote:Firstly, PPT here is for enjoyment, not post counts, and thus you shouldnt be hung up over them. Anyhow people have already said that.

Exactly. It should be content over quanity. You shouldnt post because you want the most posts. You should instead post because you have something intelligent to offer the thread.

it shouldnt be about post numbers. it should be about making new friends and expressing your thoughts on threads.

PPT is not a post war. its just a forum full of regular people. I think its great to get to know people. The new will become old, and the old will become classics (like cars lol) but PPT will remain this: a forum.

And if you dont like the quality of threads, change it. Post something you feel is more worth while. Theres little things you can do to help change things.

*cuddles PPT. pats it on the head & walks off*

I feel the same way as you. I read PPT a lot, but just don't really feel like posting. And it's been ever since the reset. If you're looking for a forum site, http://www.gaiaonline.com is a really good one. Off to increase my absurdly low post count! *skips off*

You know, I felt like this too, up until the point I got my first non-new member rank. I missed my 1000+ posts, I missed my usergroups, and I missed being able to change my name. Now I'm seeing that there's no Gods group, so that doesn't really matter, and the usergroups will be back soon-ish (I'm a very patient person, so lucky for you admins, you have plenty of time before I'm mad), and I understand that the admins don't want the namechange thing isn't coming back because of the abuse of it before, and If you ever need to change your name in an emergency, you can always PM and admin. I've been in GC a total of three times (on these and the old forums) 8) , so I've never really noticed any lamers, but with the new mods, hopefully that will be remedied.

I've got a personal mantra-thingy that I think would apply well in this case:

Give.
Give till it hurts.
Give some more.
If the above steps don't work, then give.
etc. there's a bunch of stuff about bleeding and other things that add humor to my mantra, but those aren't necessarry. But the point is, become the change that you want to see in the world. Be the most awesome member you can be. Others will follow suit.

Thank you. You are very sweet. And, about my username: That is my real last name--honest to goodness. I love it because it is so unusual. And I refused to change it to Thomas when I married.

Really? Wow,thats cool. :)

Thanks you guys, you've made me feel better about posting in the Forum, and well, being here and being myself. Going along and doing what I used to do. :D I may even go back Roleplaying now, I miss it so much.

That's great to hear!!!!! It's like jumping off a diving board into a pool, you know? The more you think about how cold the water will be or how deep it is or how silly you will look, the more you hesitate and the more scared you are about doing it. If you just take a running jump and leap into the pool, you might just realize that the water isn't that cold or deep after all and it was actually kind of fun.

And, sorry all, but I have to say one more thing (you are all thinking, my God, doesn't this woman's fingers ever get tired?). Angus, anyone and everyone "belongs" here.

Happened to me a little after the forums came back... take a little break, and then come back again. (Doing so endangered my role in 1673, but I came back in time)... Dunno why it happens...

Yay! Roleplaying!

that's how I felt. that's why I quit, then a month and a half later I came back, and I seemed to like it suddenly.

I don't suggest the forums on there.. they're very.. lets just say bad.. at times.

I don't want to be rude, but get over it. A slightly different PPT is better than no PPT at all.
