Night 13
As execution ended, everyone started to head towards bed, when suddenly, one person stood up on top of a rock and called their attention. The person was quite short and relatively old. "Please, everyone, wait. I have something to say," the speaker announced. Everyone stopped and turned around to listen. "I don't know half of you half as well as I should like, and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve," he began, looking around the small group. "However, I feel like I should share this time with you, evil or innocent. The world is changing quite drastically, and so few of you left understand the culture of my people. Hobbits are simple, happy people. We seek peace and, for the most part, a carefree, happy people. Our homes are cozy and snug, and usually filled with relatives, although if I ever see the Sackville-Bagginses in my home...anyways. There isn't much more that we spend time with than food. Days are spent growing food and eating food - after all, there is not much better, excepting of course a good party. I held one not so long ago for myself, as is the tradition of my peoples. Gave out a fair number of pretty gifts, too! There was nothing like it! My dear friend Gandalf even brought along some fireworks for show! Now that was something! Gandalf's fireworks are by far more magnificent than anything else we have seen! Of course, he is known as a disturber of the peace because of the adventure he took me on, but the young ones still look forward to his comings. Now, where was I? Oh, yes. Most hobbits think of little more than food. After all, with 6 meals a day, where can you go wrong? First there's breakfast, then elevenses, luncheon, tea, dinner then supper. And what of supper without some ale? What a jolly time meals are! I personally would prefer to spend my days writing about my adventures and composing songs than sitting here in the midst of danger. Although, does anyone have some Longbottom Leaf? I could use a good smoke right now. Longbottom Leaf is a Shire specialty, you know. It was first grown in the Shire, and as far as I've ever heard tell, ONLY grows in the Shire. You don't find anything better to smoke, either! It's shipped out of the Shire, even, for others to enjoy! Now...where did my pipe go? Aha. Here it is! Alas, there is so much to tell and so little time. We hobbits generally have few conflicts - we are an easy-going bunch, like I said before, much more interested in food than fighting. There's nothing like some good taters or some bread, joined with some ale and then a good smoke afterward... I have met Elves, Dwarfs, Men, Trolls, and even a dragon. Nasty things, trolls. The only time they're worth being around is when they are rock solid. Hah! Did I ever tell you the story about the three trolls I came across during my adventure! Surely I have...no? Well. It all started..." One by one, the listeners sat down as their feet grew tired. Eventually, they propped themselves against rocks, or laid down on the ground. Slowly but surely, they dozed off, lured into a sleeping state by the sound of the speaker's voice. By the time the first bits of dawn crept over the horizon, everyone seemed almost frozen in place, as if they too had turned to stone. "...and by that point, I was just glad to be home. Dear me, is it morning already? I'm afraid I quite lost track of the time..." The speaker quickly stepped down from the rock, grabbed a blanket, and curled up for a quick nap.
There were no attacks, as all the attackers were lulled to sleep by a rather long babbling speech.
