They don't HAVE to promote their dumb TCG, they do it because they've become money hungry.

Interestingly, I got a neomail from one of the monitors, stating that she were close to freezing me, but didn't because she kind of thought I had a point. She said they have to promote their merchandise to make enough money to keep the server running. I replied and politely asked how they managed to maintain the server before they released their merchandise. I don't see how they can manage one week and then not be able to manage the next. I'll be looking forward to see what she has to say to that. :P

Check out the online petition made by Robert to get the Neopets staff to snap out of the dumb trance they've been in just lately, and work on actually improving the site rather than filling their pockets.

Basically, this came after TNT shelved the Dr. Sloth plot in favour of promoting the trading card game. Once again, they have shunned the faithful Neopets players who play just for fun and don't want to buy any of their merchandise. The words 'sold out' spring to mind. The staff are more interested in material gain rather than the enjoyment of their players. For shame..

Anyways, sign the petition if you feel the same way. Maybe, just maybe, if we get enough people to sign it, we can make the Neopets team see sense and get back to what really matters: the site. You should be spending your time catching scammers and cheaters and making the site more fun. Not promoting merchandise that, at the end of the day, has little use whatsoever.

w w w. p e t i t i o n o n l i n e. c o m/d r s l o t h
remove the spaces. Because of the dumb scammers we aren't allowed to post links anymore..

A lot of people have warned "you'll be frozen if you put that in your lookup". Maybe they're right. If I'm frozen, I'll join a looooong line of people who have spoken their minds against the Neopets team and been frozen. If I'm wrong for telling people how I feel and encouraging others to speak their minds then you better slap some handcuffs on me now and drag me off to jail.

That is what Maverick wrote in his lookup. I think it is very true and he has given us permision to use it in our own lookups. CAUTION Due to the fact that TNT doesn't permit free speech be careful if you post this.

It's because the number of accounts has grown. Extremely. If you think that Neopets is paid for in happy thoughts, well you're very naive. It costs a lot more money to keep the servers than it did.

Back when they began, they were fine. They had a few cruddy t-shirts I still remember. Then there was no merchandise until the plushies. And then better t-shirts. Then pepet plushies. And now the TCG. And they do HAVE to advertise their merchandise. And this is a great way to do it, because it gives us a plot. I didn't see you complaining when they advertised with the BFM plot. Or when they were going to advertise with the ROS plot. You're only complaining now that it's gone. Well, that's too bad. They missed their chance for it and now they have to move onto the next one. You need to move on as well.

I guess people will just always complain. If they didn't have their merchandise, we'd be stuck on age-old servers, and people would complain then. Or we'd have to pay to play (for the whole site) and people would quit. Just be happy that they are advertising by updating the site with something cool to keep us occupied.

SIGNED.

I think this is a great idea. Regardless of how it works, it's another way to get their attention.

I don't like that they have been unable to organize their work force so that site content gets done like it should. Instead, they've got paid options coming up via Neopets Premium packages!

Why must the Sloth Plot suffer?

Ehm, do you think it's wrong that people complain? Can anyone remember a weekend where there HAVEN'T been problems? They have more advertisement than ever and yet the site works worse than ever. Maybe people would be more forgiving of the advertisement and sponsors if the site was actually working properly, if you could actually get replies from staff when you're frozen etc. "Something cool to keep us occupied". Funny, I had to come up with something myself last Sunday cause the site was down :-P
If neopets got their priorities straight then you wouldn't see nearly as many people complaining.

If you're going to censor my sig again please just ban me and get it over with.

I don't see what the big deal is about the Hannah plot. If that's the next plot, why not WAIT till they've FINISHED the Sloth plot and THEN do the Hannah one? That would have made much more sense, and not upset quite so many people.

It is because they have become money hungry and want to promote their new TCG instead of giving the users what they want.

Honestly, I don't think it has anything to do with them being money hungry. They are a business, after all, and they do have expenses. They also have staff that need to be paid. And I'd much prefer that they go with the merchandising and the advertising, then making the site Pay 4 Play.

That being said, I can fully understand you being annoyed with them. Although I still think that the merchandising is a good idea, I believe that they have taken it a little too far. In my opinion, one... two at the most... TCG expansion a year is enough. That means, collectors (like myself) can keep up with the new additions, and it leaves more than enough time for the artists and the rest of the staff to devote to the site.

I admit, I'm not a huge Sloth fan and I'm actually looking forward to the Hannah plot, on the proviso that it deals with Maraqua, the pirates and the Darkest Faerie. I don't, however, believe they should've shelved one in place of the other.

So, on those grounds alone, I have signed the petition. Like others, I'm not sure how much chance we have of it working, but who knows? Miracles do happen... sometimes.

Thank you! It's not as if they are living in mansions with waterfall pools. Heck, they probably live in appartments. They need to raise a LOT of money to even keep the site there. Add in pay for artists and programmers and the office. And yes, they are a business and human... they do want to make some profit.

Personally I like that they make plots around the TCG it's a nice way to advertise while updating the site at the same time. I'd rather them do that and give us a plot to keep us occupied then spend their time advertising off site.

Is one TCG expansion every 2 months a little much? Yeah. But I'm sure that is more of a contract deal with Wizard and not completely TNT's choice. It's not like they want all the stress involved in such a time consuming thing.

Umm
While I am firmly in agreement that TNT needs to concentrate more on the site and less on the Merchendice/TCG I am going to have to quibble with one point here.

The Dr. Sloth Plot was set up to promote the "Return of Dr. Sloth" TCG expansion. It's not like they shelved a pure as the driven snow plot in order to bring us a commercial one. They decided they didnt' have enough time to finish promting that TCG plot so they're skipping right to the next one.

That said, as someone who could not possibly care less about the stupid card game I find the inconsistancies rather annoying. I'd rather have neoschools than any TCG plot
