Not always every day, but they update quite often. I've looked at many computers that have had Ad-aware reference files dating back to August 2003 and April 20, 2004. Those are the fresh-install defaults.

However, this is the longest time period that Lavasoft hasn't updated their reference files. The most recent one is July 24, 2004. The latest Spybot Definition Rules was released on the 28th.

Just hold the key down -- that ought to work.

You might try defragmenting your computer. Defragmenting is when your computer 'reorganizes' the memory. It's really helpful at my house! Sometimes it takes a while, so try it at night.

Go to:
Start -> Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools -> Disk Defragmenter


It'll say something like, 'Choose a Drive' and you want to say 'C'. Click ok, and it'll do it. Let me know if it doesn't seem to get past 10% Completed.

The reason it doesn't get past 10 % is because you would have background processes running other than the Defragger. You could usually take care of it by exiting out of all the programs in the task bar, and going into the Program Manager to make sure that they're all gone.

It actually reallocates file fragments and puts them together while relocating it to certain parts of the hard drive. Whatever is on the hard disk drive has nothing to do with memory.

Starting up your computer in safe mode would be another way to stop it from restarting at 10%. There are many ways to start different computers in safe mode, depending on you BIOS. Hopefully you know how to do it yourself. When the computer starts up in safe mode, just run defragmenter normally.

Another reason your computer is at 10% is because you could have to many program running (I'm not even talking actual windows.) HVae you tried something called MSConfig?

Entering Safe Mode does not depend on the BIOS, but rather the operating system's MBR (Master Boot Record). The reason is not clearly seen when only one operating system is installed, but you'll see what I mean if you have two or more operating systems installed on the same system. Window's pre-boot menu selection is F8 by default.

Thank you for all the different solutions for getting it past 10%, but I already knew how to do that. We read a newspaper article by a computer guy, and he said to use MsConfig (like DM was on Fire! said). I'm sorry for not making it clear!

I feel stupid asking this, but I downloaded some anime in .avi file form, but windows media and quicktime wont play it. Is there a special program I have to download to play them?

You need either a DivX or Xvid video codec, plus an AC-3 sound codec for audio.

K-lite codec pack has all of those codecs plus some more.

However, if you feel like ditching those media players, you can go to http://www.videolan.org/ and download the VLC player, which uses plug-ins rather than codecs.

It gave me a menu for like 3 seconds then the menu disapeared.

In order to load pictures from it to my computer, I have to hook it up with the USB cable to my computer, and turn it on. Ideally a temprorary drive would load in My Computer containing my pictures. However, it's stopped working. I hook it up, and 'PC' still comes up on the status LCD screen on the camera, but the temporary drive never loaded. That kind of thing had happened before, and a restart always fixed it, however that was not the case this time.
I automatically blamed the driver (I have 98, and I had to install the digital camera driver when I bought the camera). I tried reinstalling the driver, both from the disc that came with the camera, and from the website. But it made no difference.
I made sure the USB ports were working, they were. I began thinking that I might have to reformat my computer, and was preparing myself to do so.
I decided to try it with my brother's computer (I've loaded pictures from the camera to his computer before, he has XP and so the driver didn't have to be installed). It did the exact same thing on his computer.
That was a bit of a relief. It won't work on his either, so I know it's not just my computer that's the problem. So.... it's either the camera or the USB cable, right? And I would assume it must be the cable, because the camera itself still works like normal.
