So today at school(as some of you might know) one of my friends was in an accident at recess where she could've easily broke her neck (we thought she was paralized until we figured out it was just the shock. The ambulance was at the school minutes after the accident, sirens, lights, the whole shabang. So they took her and her twin sister to the hospital. This was about 2 hours after one of my closest friends was in a car accident that could've been serious. (The airbags didn't deploy) Not to mention 2 years ago one of the people in my grade hit his head on the playstructure and had a siezure. Has anything that big ever happened at your school? Me and my friends have been through so many injuries, including a siezure and majour concussion, and 2 minor concussions, and we're only 13.

Every year, there is one heat-related death on a high school campus somewhere in the county. The stupid football or basketball coaches just HAVE to get their kids out in the August sun and humidity to practice for six hours. It's usually a week or two before school even starts, and it really angers me that they never learn.
Back when I was in high school, we had a few sports-related injuries, cheerleaders landing wrong or what-have-you. I seem to recall a few serious incidents like seizures as well, because we were constantly getting the fire trucks at our school(because the fire station was the nearest emergency-response group). And one day the principal backed into a student's car, but no one was hurt.

One year in elementary school, an old beam on the monkey bars fell and crushed a kid's shoulder. They had to close down the playground for two years until they could build a safer one (of course, I was already out by the time they finished it).

I'm actually surprised that we haven't had any heat-related deaths here. I go to a really competitive sports school, and at the end of every August, the football, field hockey, cross country, and soccer teams all start practice before school starts.

We used to do roller skating every spring, but each time, someone breaks or sprains their ankle, or gets their fingers rolled over, or something. We finally quit doing it, thank you teachers, so now we get to do flag football twice a year. Uck.

In Primary School, three convicts escaped prison and ran through our school yard (at break, no less) to escape from the police. We had a full police team, including dogs, charge through our playground and there were panda cars and helicopters surrounding the school too.

I just remember running round in circles and the teachers hurrying us into the school and locking all the doors. I also recall the male members of staff helping the police chase them.

That's just crazy

And I thought our school was crazy!

It was slightly mental yeah. I didn't think much of it at the time but now... wow, that was scary!

I get panic attacks.

They look like heart attacks.

Cue fun, and ridicule as the Ambulance (I refused, knowing it was just a panic attack) tells them I wasn't having a heart attack, and the students consensus that I faked it for attention.

Yay.

I live on campus at my uni. One of the blocks has a terrible fire alarm system, and it goes off at LEAST once a fortnight with false alarms.

It's at the point where I was outside with a few friends, and we heard the alarm go off. Cue us looking at the building, looking over at OUR building, hearing no alarm from ours, shrugging, and going on with our conversation. The fire department must've really hated us.

Of course, in April, the school actually DID catch on fire - the industrial dryer set alight, still not sure how. And, of course, it would just happen to be the one time when the fire alarm didn't go off. So 3 or 4 of the guys were running around knocking on every door of the school, yelling out "FIRE!!!", to evacuate us all. They eventually got it into their heads to break the fire glass panel to set off the alarm.... 10 minutes later.

A man was shot, twice, outside one of the side doors to my high school right after classes started. He crawled into a parking lot so that someone would find him. And someone did, two hours later.

A pregnant girl fainted while walking down the hallway and fell onto her stomach. She was taken away in an ambulance. It was really scary, actually.

One guy tried to take his own life in one of the school bathrooms. The details aren't necessary.

I wasn't there that day, but a teacher and a student accidentally set the chem lab on fire. I don't really remember what happened, but there was a miscommunication between them about a bunsen burner. Too much gas was let out and the burner was lit, and things went kablooey. Hah!

A few years ago, when I was in the seventh grade, there was a meningitis outbreak in my city. Someone in my junior high at the time had it, but he didn't find out until he went to school. He fainted in class and when the teacher went to see if he was okay, she found those blue/purple splotches on his chest. He, too, was rushed to the hospital. He lived. After that, anyone who came in contact with him had to be tested for bacterial meningitis. It was crazy.

That's all I can think of, really. Crazy times!

At the auditorium, one of the big ceiling spot-lights fell down and almost crushed someone. Thankfully no one was hurt.

I must be evil because this made me giggle.

Yeah, 16 people died my senior year of highschool. In college, one kid was beaten to death on mainstreet by a bunch of thugs who were just driving around looking for someone to beat up. Oh, and since I'm a design major, x-acto knife related accidents are really common. My friend Bill cut off four of his fingertips, yowled, wrapped it up in paper towels, and kept on working on his ad campaign.
