Has anyone been to sunnyneo yet? I was there and they had some way around the filters. I don't know much about coding but they posted a way to get around it.

Coding trouble update
It seems there is a workaround for the current lookup coding troubles. Basicly all you have to do is change (all) your <style> (or <style type="text/css">) to <style /> and </style> to </style />.

The coding will now be accepted. It also seems even though the style tags are 'broken' they will be correctly interpreted by FF, IE, Flock etc.

Use this fix at your own discretion.

This is both good and bad. Good because we can use our lookups, bad because TNT will find out this work-around and then ban that :x

TNT won't freeze users who use this to get pass their filters will they? They don't like it when you do, but it's not like we'd be using it to do anything bad. (Well, no one HERE would anyway.)

I won't be editing any of my petpages until TNT fixes this. I don't want to risk bypassing the filters and getting iced.

I cannot update my guild's Member of the Month page because of these new filters :x I also cannot touch my userlookup :x

I had a really cool user lookup that I made myself...the 1st 1 ever...infact I taught myself HTML jus to make it up...with the new filters it came out all messed up and junky looking...I jus deleted it all today :'( it jus looked too sad to leave...now I need to figure out what CAN be used to make a cool new lookup for me...I tried earlier and it kept saying "bgcolor" wasn;t apporiate...?! so I need to rethink my plans...I dunno if I wanna try learning CSS for it or not...maybe 1 day I will...

I'm kind of glad NP did this...well for the shops that is...I mean if they could've done it jus to the shops great...but I *hate* it when I go to a shop and it seems to take forever to load...even on my cable connection...and then I think back to the dial-up days and be glad I don;t have that anymore...I mean sure back int he day I had a really cool shop layout...but it didn;t take forever to load!!! and I was on dial-up @ that time...

...as for the petpages...I wasn;t aware they filtered those out too...that sucks big time...I guess there must be someway to make things still look cool w/o having to override the filters to do so...

But you see, this will not effect annoying shop layouts clogged with images and stupid little quizzes and blinkies and distracting backgrounds that take forever to load AT ALL. This only keeps people from making things not visible and positioning.

Even though this stops (at least temporarily) the scam, I see absolutely no up side to it. They COULD have just disabled the codes on shops, but they didn't. It's just not right.

I'm in the process of making new lookups and re-doing my pet pages. It's going to take a long time. I'm not going to use the work around, even though it's very tempting (especially for my pet lookups which I love). Because there's no telling what TNT will do about that. But I bet they do something. Either blocking the work around, or warning/freezing/clearing pages.

...actually...from what I;ve noticed it will fix the backgrounds...as I could couldn;t put a background into my page at all due to it coming up as inapporiate words...

Recently, I (and many, many other Neopian coders) have noticed some absurd coding filters. On User Lookups, Petpages, etc., the filters are now blocking words that are vital to most coding ("position" and "display," for example). Word on the boards is that this filter has been put in place to stop "scam shops," where it looks like you're buying an expensive item when you're really not. There's a fix for the filter for now, but it's technically incorrect coding and many people don't know about it; besides, scammers could just get around the filter the same way as well. Please remove these unjust filters - the beauty of Neopia's pages depends on it! ~seegensays_
We are working on fixing this. We are sorry that your coding is currently messed up. :(

Oh I am SO GLAD they are actually going to fix this, I thought we'd have to live with it forever.

BUT... since there's no telling when this will get fixed (and TNT does not have a reputation for promptness ;) ) What about the work-around for the time being? Since it seems to be widely used now, and the editorial didn't come out and say don't use it, is it safe to assume that the work-around is okay to use for now? I'm thinking probably.

I gave up on my user lookup when Neopets changed their whole site layout into the advertising monolith it is. The fact that my already broken lookup will probably now be even more borked doesn't mean much. The real problem is that throughout the history of neopets talented people have been creating excellent lookup pages, and the flipside is that people have 'paid' for them as well. If an intended change and not just an error, neopets is flamboyantly waving in your face that you have ZERO rights to what you do on their site. If it is accidental, well, it only serves to highlight the scammer problem even more.
