At first I felt the same way as you did, Hpfan. In fact, it still feels a little weird and not exactly right-- there are a ton of changes and a lot of different faces around here. At times, it's a bit awkward with all the differences with the new forum, I'll admit.
It's just that this one is still in the stages of getting set up again. It'll definitely be a long time before most of the previous features come back, and it'll probably still feel a little off even when they do come back.
The fact is that this isn't exactly the same as the old forum. I still am having a hard time accepting that this is now the permanent forum, but we just have to readjust, as everyone else is attempting to do.
It's only a matter of time until this forum feels more comfortable to you. In the mean time, I suggest that you be active in the usergroups and stick mostly to boards you like and are more familiar with. That way you can sort of move in gradually and still feel a bit more comfortable.
It takes everyone a different amount of time to readjust themselves when something like this happens so suddenly. It will just take you a bit more time than some others, and there's nothing wrong with that.

Yes, it doesn't feel right. With the new rank images, the such low posts....I miss the old forum. *sighs* and the usergroups, I miss reporting scammers to the PPT mafia.

And it's hard to remember people. It's just not right. I'm just not in the mood for posting ANYTIME at all now.

PPT has become a warzone. The innocent are just resting in no mans land. Thats the reason why many of us soldiers are leaving.

Many people miss the feeling of knowing they can make a topic without being bullied about it. So they dont make a topic.

They miss the usergroups which brought us all together. Which made us realize that we are all the same kinda person. That helped us share the same emotions and views on things like football and music.

Most thread usually turn into a mini battle.

PPT has lost it's zing, because members have lost their zing too.

Maybe when the wars over, we can try and rebuild what we have left.

Why does it feel so different? Why can't I post like I used to? Why do I no longer feel the same....

Everything doesn't feel right here anymore. It's hard to explain. I just feel as if I no longer know any of you. It feels as if I'm so far away and that I can never go back to this forum with the same excitement I used to have. Why am I fading away?

Sometimes when I enter a board, I want to post, but something holds me back...

I feel reluctant to post...

Have I lost my interest in the forum? I need help...

Back in March of 2003, Hpfan36 entered the PPT Forum... discovered new friends, the fun of roleplaying, the great community, and later on the Beyond Godly insanity.... Hpfan36 enjoyed the forums, came here everyday...

What happened to that same Hpfan36.

Maybe you need to change the board skin?

Ducky brings up a good point, it's still PPT. Just different, and if you don't explore the different, you'll never know if its good or bad. Im in no rush to see old groups return or to see old fueds be remade. We have a second chance. Although we didn't fail the last one, lets just make this one as worth it.

It's different now, and I don't think it'll ever go back(Even if the old forums return). So, yeah, I don't know what others feel, But.. I like this different and to me, this is PPT. =)

the difference is that some older members left and i had been getting the same feeling as well. when i first signed up with the new forum, i got a PM from another old-timer, Shollia and i had a short chat about this issue as well. there are many visible absences; Magenta quitted neopets, lina_blade hasn't been back or if she had, i don't know her new username. there's also an influx of new members which had been a two-sided coin...

overall, i can't pinpoint exactly what's wrong. recently, i also decided that i would no longer post long essays anymore after an incident. i start to feel lazier and is beginning to feel it's best to just post short, neutral messages.

look guys. we cant bring old members back. we cant bring the old usergroups back...or well if we did...it wouldnt be the same. the important thing is to stay close to what we have left: memories. and make the best of what we have now.

ban together. us older members know eachother pretty well.

i kno it sounds a bit cult like...but you kno what I mean. we always have our chats too!

as for ppt not being life. thats true. but u also have to remember some of us have grown close as friends. its more like a family to some of us because we trust eachother and have alot of inside jokes and fun memories.

the best thing we can do to fight this is keep making new memories.

Yes, PPT has changed, for some better (like me) and some worse. Some members have gone, and we ganed about two for every active old member left. So all we can do now is enjoy who is here, and make new friends.
As others have said, maybe another break, start a roleplay, do something.

And I kinda agree with Jill... only I wouldn't use suck as a word...

I've felt the same way. You're not alone.

I'm sick of spam and spammers, chatspeakers, and other 'hi I act like I was born in the Neoboards' people.

Because of them, PPT's lost it's zing, the thing that made it special.

I don't really mind it when people call others idiots, or are rude, actually. In some cases, I agree, even if I have to warn or strike the name-caller...

The forum isn't as great as it used to be. There are groups, or, I suppose, cliques, of people around the forum. The old members, the members who claim to be evil or insane (and who aren't even slightly eccentric), the spammers who say they're not spammers... Etc. And, of course, there are the new generation of popular people. I suppose some of PPT's glamour, for me, has left as the new popular members became well-known. Not because of who they are, for the most part (Dawn, Jasujo, Medli- those people. They're perfectly nice, and still very, very, very popular), but because I don't know any of them. Hey, I used to know all the popular people. In fact, I used to know most of the members! But now, so many of them are gone. Some can't come online anymore, and some just disappeared (Pudding, where are you?). Even more have simply changed, for the worse, or the better.

However. A lot of the old members are still here, same as they've always been. And it's those people I turn to when I feel the need to remember the old PPT. ^_^

The forum has changed a great deal. But change is part of life. You can accept it and move on, or whine. :P (Just kidding- I've whined, and am still whining, but I'm gradually getting used to the changes. :P )

can't find the sig from this set, so instead, you get a <3 .

Well, you're the same person, right? Just take a break. If you forget about the forum and your account becomes inactive, then thats a different story.

PPT is still PPT.

Members always leave, members always come and go.
For those who say all the old members left during the break; it was probably just the final straw. Many of the members were already dissapearing before that, the "oldies" as you put it had been leaving long before the break. Most had barely been posting. Those that have been mentioned were posting maybe once a month and a few had left more then a few months before PPT went down.

I honestly think that people are dwelling too much on the past. "Oh PPT was so much better before" "Everyones gone" blah blah blah... whine whine whine. Get to know NEW people, try doing NEW things.
Things change with time, people change with time.
If life were to stay the same forever, then life would not go on at all.

I feel the same. The thing that bugs me the most (while it is VERY, VERY DUM) is the post count. I felt so good about having 1400 posts. Then it happened. Now I feel like a New Member and to be honest, a lot of people here a bugging me. I feel like this is starting to become the Neoboards. Luckily, Jim just opened up the Mod applications so I think that we should be cleaning up soon. If we can get the name changing, the star ranks, and the personal quotes back, it will feel more like home. *sigh*

If there was any consern with this even beforehand, why haven't you brought it up with one of us? We are always trying to impove the state of forums, even if it is a little bit.

That's the truth, and probably the most well-said message on this whole thread. Change is part of life- and a big part of it, too. The best thing you can do is learn to deal with it, as most of the time change is irreversible.

And yes, many things are gone. Like some of the old and well-loved members. And certain hacks and privledges like name changing and subforums. And yes, certain groups are gone, too. But what matters is what we do have- yes, some old members are gone, but new ones have come to try to make up for our losses. Old friends cannot be replaced, but new ones can be made.

The way I see it, PPT is like a house. Say you move from an old house to a new one. Yes, you're going to miss the old house and the old memories you have of that house. But that doesn't mean that there's nothing to enjoy in the new house. New memories can be made, as can changes- just as it is in PPT.

The point of all of this is: change happens all the time. All you can do is try to make the best of it- if you feel like you know nobody, get into a crowd and meet people. If you feel like you have a resistance to post, just get in there and say what you think. There's no point holding back on yourself- change is going to happen, whether you like it or not. What matters is how you handle the change.
