Perhaps some staffers slept in today and came in later so they could stay later tonight?

I figure it will go up the least busy time of the site- which would be when- between 2 and 4 a.m. Neo time?

they could atleast update the news!! I get that the pound is going to give issue but the news would be okay to update im sure!

NEW NEWS:
29th April
SORRY! *hides* We want to appologize for not being able to launch the pound today. We really did think we would be able to, but we will be launching it tomorrow after we make sure it won't blow up the site. (You may have noticed some site trouble earlier, which was due to the pound.) :-( Trust us, we want the pound back as much as you do.
Tue Apr 29, 2008 1:23 am
They tried to open it today, but I think 50000 people all clicking the same link crashed the site. I don't know what they think will be different about trying it again tomorrow though.

I'm finding it quite amusing actually. Then again, I don't happen to have a pet stuck mid transfer.
I'm really glad they're trying to keep us updated. Though it may not be the
smartest thing in this case, because it'll just be the same mayhem tomorrow. But it's still a good thing in my opinion.

{nods} I hafta agree here.
Slightly disappointing that it's not quite up, but really, it's obvious they're trying, and doing the best they can to make it happen smoothly, and are communicating. More thumbs up for TNT.

I'm not even mad. I'm actually happy that they came out, admitted their mistake, and are trying to reassure the community as a whole. It's almost like TNT actually cares about the users again.
Now, if they'd just address the trading post bug....
Tue Apr 29, 2008 2:13 am
I am glad TNT deleted, or at least temporarily removed, the strong pets

This will make it more "fair" to those of us who may not be online and spend tens or even hundreds of millions training our pets

And it will stop some of the mad rush to the Pound when it opens.
Although, after seeing how much people skipped out of their real lives to catch the Pound opening, I feel disappointed that all their "efforts" are going to waste

TNT are still removing pets.
Maybe this is how they will combat the strain on the servers - take all the customisable/LE pets out.
Tue Apr 29, 2008 5:42 am
I only found out about this via this thread- as I haven't been on neopets for months, and wow :O

This is the best news I've heard for a long time

Even though I've basically quit neopets- I'm really glad as at last I'll finally be able to move my dream pets into their appropriate accounts, so that I can properly close a huge (>7-year old!) chapter of my life having fulfilled my goals.
I'm also really happy for all the people who have pets trapped in the pound- hopefully there will still be the chance to reclaim them! As for the transfer feature- despite it being once a month, I think this is a totally unexpected, but still great move by TNT! As others have already said- playing a restriction on the age of accounts/making it once a month should help ensure that any move won't be taken lightly- ie for planned trades, or transfering pets between accounts, rather than "pet lending" or "selling" which TNT have always been (justifiably) vigilant against.

Pretty sure all neopets that were in the pound are frozen now.
At least all that I have looked up are.

Not all of them. I still have an eye on a couple still in the pound.

Noooooooooooo.
They froze ALL of the pets I've abandoned in the past year, including a very plain, low-stat, but well named green gnorbu (he did have an aged avatar petpet on him, though).
