I just wondered what people's opinion about customization is this day. It's been 4 months since TNT implemented this new feature and I remember lots of angry comments on this forum and the neoboards. I was one of those angry people. But after a few months it's really starting to grow on me, especially since TNT released more wearable clothes, but also trinklets and backgrounds. I'm also getting used to all the pet make-overs.

I just wonder if people still hate it or if they've changed their mind and like it now. (like I did)

I am still a bit resentful that old clothing will not be implemented because it would give older players more of a profit advantage. I still think it's a bit silly, awkward, and large to load.

I still highly dislike the new system, and I'd much rather have all my old pictures and poses back, but I'm resigned to the fact that it's not ever changing back to the old style. However, considering that I'm stuck with what we've got, I'll probably buy whatever little trinkets catch my eye, just for the fun of it. (NOT the NC Mall junk, though. Unless I get free money from the new scarab game. ;) )

At first I was leaning towards against. But now I am all for. For the pets I have, the make-overs really don't bother me and I love being able to get new clothing and such. I was also against the NC Mall. Although I don't think I will ever buy something from there unless I get a gift certificate or something, its like Premium.

It's not required but you can get it, like I do. For me, cutomization was something that had to grow on me. And now that it has, I think it is a great neopets feature.

The princess Zafara has gown on me, but I'm still waiting on painting mine so I don't look like too much of a hypocrite.

I like the Pandaphant-related stuffage, which I suppose is reason enough for me to give customization a second chance.

well i've come to like it. i spend tons of time RS at the clothing shop now which has helped my income. :)

TNT still needs to resolve some of the customization though. for instance an usukicon y9 attendee badge can't be placed outside of the potato sack? seriously that's a lapse in the coding somewhere... that and it's pretty rough for the people who don't have species specific clothes yet. they're definitely getting the short end of the stick. plus all the pets that are still incompatible with the clothes because of they're unique shape is sad to see. i think in reality it's going to take a year minimum or more to win over a lot of players because it's such an immense task.

I think customization was very rushed and is only now starting to get to the point where the artists and coders are able to do much of anything with the whole concept of pets wearing clothing. However, I think the Halloween Poogle is a great example of the good side of customization--an original-looking Halloween pet that's not a vampire or a devil.
But since there is still not an 800x600 version of the site, I still spend much less time on the site; any improvements in customization would not change that.

I wish more of the old clothing was wearable too. It's also very confusing to have clothes that are wearable and clother that aren't. Especially for new players that would be confusing.

I think TNT might have implemented customization a bit too soon. There were hardly any clothes, background or other stuff that you could customize your pet with (beside the paint brush items). Now more items are released and more people are warming up to it.

Personally, I don't care. Three of my pets look ugly in the new poses, so I decided not to convert them to the new versions. The only customizable pet I have is my labrat, currently a brown buzz, who's wearing all odds and ends that I can find without spending NPs or money. If anything, I'm annoyed that the only t-shirt they made wearable is the "I Club Sloth" shirt, which I don't own, and which I'll never have in my t-shirt gallery, since its price went up (obviously). TNT better give us lots of wearables from the AC this year.

Given the choice, I'd revert back to the old style pets whose only method of customization was paintbrushes in a heartbeat.

I hate the new poses with their fists and crap, I hate that they changed my mutant Draik without asking me (when it can't even wear clothes to begin with), and I hate that you only have the option to revert from old->new and not vice-versa. My lab rat started being zapped over 3 years ago in hopes of turning robot, and now I have zero chance of it ever becoming one that I actually like. I even hate that bright yellow box below two of my pets in QuickRef that urge me to change them to the customizable style.

I don't even like the principle of what they're trying to do, I don't think pets should wear clothes or talk or anything like that and since I think I recall TNT saying flat out that they will never make pet-clothes (collars etc) wearable, I'm even less inclined to ever get behind them on their stupid little idea.

I used to be in the majority, I guess I'm now in the minority. I'll still play for as long as it's free, though, so I guess I might as well get used to it.

I made a big stink about it. I simply hated it at first. I even nearly got myself frozen over it. I would have deserved to get frozen, as I encouraged people to abuse a glitch. The glitch was that at the time it was possible to steal clothing from pets and then repound them. Even before the customization went live, I had thought to myself that this would be possible. I even wrote a few of the staff and sent in a glitch report ahead of time warning that this would be possible. But nothing was done and customization went live. I was really upset over the whole look of the site and the look of my pets. Change is bad, and I had played for so long, I hated the change. So out of anger I posted about the glitch on the boards and some people tried to steal clothing and were successful at doing it. Neopets gave me my first warning in forever, and I was very lucky not to get frozen. I don't forsee that they will have any problems out of me in the future as I've learned my lesson. It was an inmature thing that I did, and it accomplished nothing.

The pound is STILL DOWN!

Now a few people have posted that their pounded pets are missing clothing. That is, if you look up the pet, the clothing is gone. I don't know if this is true for every pet, but it seems to be true for usuls at least. They are missing bows.

So I think in the future if you pound a pet, it goes AU Natural into the pound. Poor thing, but the owner keeps the clothing.

This should stop pound sitters from getting a pet just for the look at least. If they get a pirate pet or something, I guess it will just have grey fur and a mean look on it's face. It won't have the clothing.

But maybe people will still be willing to adopt the pet. They just won't have the clothing for it.

And the worst part is, I actually grew found of the customization. It took a while to get used to the new look of the site and all the changes, but I hardly notice them now. I still don't all the ads, but I just ignore them. I just hope they don't put more ads up, because if I don't click the ones they have up now, I never will, so adding more isn't going to help.

So basically I did a lot of complaining and earned myself a warning and after all this, It wasn't worth complaining about.

AND the POUND IS STILL DOWN!

I paid for premium and bought merchandize. Past tense now. I think it is wholly idiotic now. I still pay real cash on occasion from another website. None of that 'renting it for 3 months' nonsense for me, thank you.

Now if the Glass and Stone PBs became wearable, then I might put clothing on my pets. Maybe.

I dunno--I think a lot of people now would still take the old-style pets and such back in a heartbeat. Like me. My two non-lab pets were grandfathered in(Halloween Lupe, de-werewolfed in the customized version, and Grey Kougra, HAPPY in the customized version), and my lab pets change species too often to get interesting outfits. So basically, I get no benefit from customization.

I agree 100% with all of the above (well, except that I don't have a Draik :P, but otherwise everything)
