I agree. In fact I'm almost certain that since the revamp, the odds of such changes have decreased (regardless of what TNT say in their editorials!). I say this because despite having zapped (but not posted in this thread  ) my labrat every single day in the last few months and I have had a total of one species change (shoyru to yurble), 2 gender changes (female to male and back again) and just one colour change (pink). Every other time I've had a change in stats. Prior to the revamp I distinctly remember getting colour/species zaps at least once a week, but I haven't had one for almost a month! Just wondering, has anyone else noticed this, or do you think it was just a coincidence?

I find gender changes to be fairly frequent, however color and species changes have always been fairly rare. Jellyneo has an article with percentages. I thought IDB or PPT had one as well but I can't find it immediately.

A plug for Cranberry and IDB :) I think this is why IDB is currently running a research study to determine if there are 'new' chances of having colour/species/gender/stat changes. There seems to be anecdotal evidence that since the grey pet avvie, TNT has tweaked the frequency and type of changes. Go to this thread http://www.pinkpt.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=33607 - the first post by Cranberry links to the IDB thread with the excel spreadsheet to record changes. The thread also has the recent results of the research analysis.

Mods: if this is inappropriate please delete, thanks.

I looked at the post - keeping track via excel seems a bit... challenging... I'm ashamed to admit it, but excel and I are not friends. We don't work well together. :P

Oh, and Matrinka, it's not as hard as it looks! :) I can show you my spreadsheet if you'd like to see an example. Also, Cranberry doesn't do excel either and she's using another non-excel tool which I think is quite user friendly too. The name of that tool is somewhere in the posts... *scratch head*
